The last 24 hours were incredibly exciting. And I take the chance to thank all my trusted sources for helping me out with rumors. I deeply appreciate what you do, and I hope one day (maybe in a couple of years) to be able to meet you to offer you a good red wine and Italian Dinner. Whenever you are on the Dolomites feel free to contact me 🙂
To readers: Tomorrow, right after the QX camera announcement that will happen in a couple of hours I will share you more details about the upcoming Sony cameras. There will be many new things, including a brand new RX camera!!! And now I am almost certain, no A-mount camera this year. Only E-mount. Plenty of new A-mount cameras will come very early 2014.

So massive he misspelled :<
Well, I'll be waiting for that NEX 6-axis IS/AF news.
sorry. I am damn tired right now. it’s days now that I don’t sleep a lot. Between all this rumor work, crying baby and my real job I am devastated. Literally.
Keep it up Andrea! Great work as always!!!
I personaly hope for a Sony A1 (the flagship).
I hope I can give you some hints within the next 30 minutes. Will share them here on comment system. Next post is about QX because I got an unexpected feedback from store managers 🙂
Awesome 🙂 Can’t wait for a new stuff. Thanks for all the hard work put into the rumors Andrea!
ah, you got me on the flagship hints too!
to increase your advertising revenue, I promise to click on your site, let’s say, 10 times a day from 2-3 different devices (so it counts as unique visits) 😉
but indeed, don’t forget to rest!
(maybe a tip for organising your posts a bit easier: only one topic per post – this will ease the commenting and categorisation; means more posts but that should be the lesser issue)
Hope SAR readers are not that selfish but do allow the admin to take some rest. At this rate the admin will burn out soon.
My girlfriend tells me the same all day. “Don’t burn out Andrea”…”take some rest”…”sure you cannot leave it for a couple of hours?”…I answer no I can’t.
You must take some rest.
It doesn’t matter if we see a rumor a day or two later.
You should go work for CaNikon……very slow in the rumor mill these days.
Lots of time for you to get some rest..;-)
Yeah, my paradise, having 10 times more visits and 10 times less rumor work to do 🙂
You need to rest.
The thing is, in essence, you are at the giving end of something that it not so incredibly necessary to life as much as food and water to SAR readers (even if they try to make it sound like it)
In other words. We, at the receiving end, understand that you do this on your spare time because there is a job you do to keep the bills in check.
I understand this and I fail to see how anyone here would miss that.
To that end, I would suggest listening to the most sound advice: take care of yourself or you’ll end up posting rumors and taking pills to compensate for unnecessary damage. At the end of the day, you are giving so make sure that you give without letting yourself burn.
You may be young (I assume) but that won’t last for long. So a more routine base delivery may be better for you and I don’t think SAR readers would mind that.
Nevermind the incessant questions about NEX successors, lens this, zoom that, touch screen wifi blah. Do what you do, at your own pace. We are all thankful for any work and any rumor coming your way anyway.
It is the BIG question right now. How to continue if site keeps growing? My answer is the site redesign. All the reviews and news stuff should be written by a selected range of SAR readers. And I will focus on rumor work only. How this works in detail I will explain after the rumor buzz.
I agree, take some rest Andrea! Your health is much more important than anything else! Even Sony rumours.
Wow, I found it hard with just a job and a crying baby. I don’t know how you fit in managing this website too and do a great job at it as well. You should come relax in Australia I could shout you a dinner and some nice australian red wine.
Well, I’m not being ungrateful; I’m just feeling a bit sad, knowing you have a ton of rumours breathing down your neck along with the other ton of responsibilities.
I am really looking forward to October. Than I will finally have time to take off from this site (and play with my NEX-FF…lol)
are you sure it will be in stores by october, seem rather quick given a late sep. announcement
No not sure. It’s a hope 🙂
I hope I’ll be on the Dolomites (I think we live quite close) taking pictures with my NEX-F as well!
Andrea
Please let us have a hint.
Is it RX100, RX1 or in between type ??
Or anything else ? Does it have an integrated EVF ?
Come on !!
Between if I understood right. I am waiting for a triple check. But I will get a feedback within the next 1-2 hours for sure!
Looking here every 15 minutes looks like an addiction. isn’t it??.. 🙂
Thnx Andrea. All info is welcome!!
So APS-C RX10 here we come 🙂 My bet is that it will be a very small, fixed-lens APS-C camera, with a fixed 28mm F1.8-F2.2 lens. To compete with Ricoh GR and Nikon Coolpix A and Fuji X100s, etc. A zoom lens does not make sense give the NEX line.
I can bet it can be the size of the RX100, with the compromise of the fixed lens, but given the good sales of RX1, Sony decided to build the RX10.
Ok, so you got me at Alpha Flagship rumor? 🙂
No A-mount camera yet. It comes in Q1 2014.
Andrea, 🙂
A RX10 with APS-C and fixed prime makes a lot of sense, now all of us are gonna whine and cry for our preferred FL !! Make it a 35mm (50 FF equivalent) for me please 😉

Oh that good wine and Italian dinner make me want to be an insider.
Great work, Andrea!
One thought though- few readers can keep up with your pace. Relax and enjoy life too…it’s only cameras after all.
Hmm….pre-order the 16-70 or wait for full-frame NEX?
FF NEX costs way more!!! You sure you want to spend that?
For the price of a D600, 6D or even a A99 I would. I’m only concerned about the NEX-lenses I have now and if I should invest further in APS-C when I really want full frame.
Anders,
IF you even have a “small itch” for Full Frame. you seriously need to stop buying crop glass. period.
As an RX1 Full Frame shooter , there is really Nothing Better IQ wise. RX1r
That does not mean there is not a Great “space” for a RX10 crop APS-C sensor Interchangeable … and a Zeiss f4 zoom would be Great on it. But you will need to be at f1.8 at least to be at FF f2.8 24-70 to have a close match. and then how does crop match a f1.4 ZA SSM Full Frame lens on FF? just saying … things to think about.
I had the A850 before and really miss the thing (except for the size!) I’ve been thinking about the RX1 too but I just can’t justify the cost without being able to swap lenses.
I think the “wait-and-see”-game is best right now.
As long as the camera will be worth it. It needs to focus as fast if not faster than the 99, have a better focus coverage and perform better in low light situations than the 99 and then it will be worthy of the price tag. Sony too many times expects premium price from a less than premium product. My decision will probably be the FF nex or one of the new A-mounts. I will depend on your insight if it is time to leap or wait on the cliff. Thanks for all your work. It really helps me to decide what and when I buy a new camera.
If Sony make a 50mm RX like the RX1 or an RX10 apsc it would be my perfect camera – (or Fuji / Ricoh for that matter but preffer RX1 type).
Don’t think it’ll happen but stranger things have this week – QX(!?)
I think they’ll go with either 28 or 35 equivalent, and us “normal” 50 lovers will be screwed, lol.
Otoh my 3n with SEL35 does a flawless job, at a much lower cost I bet…
What an interesting rumor, today !!! Discovering you are from Italy :p…. I m not a rumors sources but i m not against a good italian meal :D.
Ciao
I actually live in three differnt places in Europe. 4-5 months in Italy, 4-5 months in Belgium and rest in France. For work and family reasons.
My dream life :p… I rest and work 11 1/2 months in France and rest only two weeks in Italy :p
It has many positive sides but also some negatives. The family is spread between the three mentioned countries. And it’s pity believe me. I would love to have them all in one spot. I travelled a lot in my last 12 years. And I know that the one thing that matters most in my life is the people I love. And I would liek to see them more than I do know. Particluarly yet that I have a son.
now i really wonder what your “real” job is 🙂 you should make sr3 rumor on that.
RX10 would be cool – all I need, compact APS with great video specs!
Andrea, I congratulate you for having 4 families and 5 jobs. How many Andreas are in there?
1 job. Documantary and Photography. It’s not a 8hours job in one location.
I am the only one who wants a RX1 with integrated EVF? 🙁
yes
Navier, RX1 type interchangable e-mount Full Frame w/ EVF on the body … I would say NO you are not the only one that wants to see that. and SONY has reasons to do it. imho
No
watch ebay flood with nex early sellers next week 🙂
Hi
Any update of the moving sensor?
asked about it and should get an answer soon. But it’s sure the camera is coming…
Nice, thanks
Andrea, Will all the new Sony cameras still have Bayer sensors or will any of them have a Foveon or Organic type sensor, or will the new technology sensors not appear until late 2014?
Bayer!
If they are going to stick with Bayer, they need a lot more dots to equal the resolution of the Foveon Merrill sensors.
(What are usually called pixels by the camera makers are really dots. Four dots make a pixel in a Bayer sensor. A NEX 7 is 24 Megadots, or 6 Megapixels. A DP2M is 15 Megapixels about 45% higher resolution. And it shows, even on screen.)
Foveon hardly a mature tech given the imitations in low light performance, not to mention inadequate video processing, until such issues are resolved Sony will not bring one to market
Any idea if there will be an ILC camera with a global shutter? Syncing flash to any shutterspeed would be great! You can do that with RX1 or RX100 II but it would be nice with an ILC
Mechanical shutters cost money. Sony have to reduce manufacturing costs. So they must be working on this.
All current ILC cameras have mechanical shutters.
I wish they could implement an electronic shutter instead (like RX100), but as I gather there are some issues.
Andrea,
With all your families, locations, jobs…, and SAR, there is only one solution.
Clone thyself…, maybe twice:
–one for the jobs and family(ies)
–one for relaxation and health activities, to keep you in good shape for:
–the most important: one for a full-time focus on SAR. We all love you so much and have such a good time here–we deserve it.
Your choice as to which the “real” Andrea pursues
