The A7rII is in Stock at FocusCamera (Click here). The store told me they have 30 camera on inventory!
Moreover the Sony A7rII will be in Stock on August 27 at BHphoto (Click here). I guess also the other US stores like Amazon, Adorama, FocusCamera, Uniquephoto and son on will have it in Stock about the same time.
New A7rII test:
Long time Canon user Oliver sent me this:
“I’ve migrated from the Canon 5DII to the Sony Alpha 7RII. I’m mostly realise landscapes (at ISO 100) studio portraits (at 100 ISO) and sport (around ISO 6400). I only uses Zeiss ZE, all manual, for which I’ve bought the ring Metabones IV adaptor. I shoot exclusively in Raw and develop on Lightroom CC. My conclusions :
+ 7RII’s focus peaking is effective. I still prefer my microprism focusing screen that I added to my 5DII
+ The 7RII is significantly lighter
+ 7RII’s Dynamic Range really looks better on the field
+ 7RII’s sharpness is better
+ The crop capacity on 7RII’s files is excellent
+ The 7RII’s files at ISO 6400 are quite better
/ The slightest noise 7RII has strengths and weaknesses
– Taking 7RII’s hand is worse: I ordered a grip (not yet received) for long sessions (studio and sport)
– It takes twice the time to open the files in Lightroom
– 7RII’s batteries autonomy is really low
– The 7RII looks much less solid than the 5DII : 5DII looks like a kind weapon of war while the 7RII looks more like a toy

Gordon from CameraLabs compared the A7rII and 5dsr noise performance:
The Canon EOS 5DSr is exhibiting slightly higher chroma noise than the Sony, along with what looks like a coarser grain. This becomes apparent around 3200 ISO and above and while both bodies are still recording similar degrees of real-life detail, you’d need to apply higher NR to the Canon files to achieve a similarly clean result. Since higher NR comes at the cost of lost detail, this gives the Sony A7r II a small edge over the Canon, although it may not be as significant as many hoped and the extended range up to 102400 ISO inevitably becomes very noisy when viewed up-close.
Full review at Photographic Wanderings:
On the one hand, the A7R II is just an awesome combo of resolution, IBIS and 4K video and worth every penny. On the other hand, it’s too much, esp. for photographers who don’t care for the video capabilities.
So, there’s the rational me calling it overkill. Then there’s the other side of my brain hurting as I wrap up the camera and put it back in the box. Because, despite my reservations, the Sony A7R II is one hell of a camera and if my wallet didn’t say ‘no’ for now, I’d rush into ordering one, overkill or not.

But where is the 14 bit RAAAAAAAAAWWWWW!!!!!!?????
It says 14-bit on the box! :p
There is 14 bit RAW. Compare it to 12 bit camera and the difference is pretty obvious. There is compression of the 14 bit which is a bit different isssue…..stop posting stupid stuff.
It’s “raw”, not “RAW”.
ISO 6400 for sports??
Well, that kind of replicate of a feedback I got from another Canon user friend of mine. They like big bodies but the features of the A7RII. They will get used to that.
Who are “they”?
They is Canon users
Nope
Get rid of the first number and we can talk.
There is problems with this camera. Wait till it is fixed. Mine overheats like crazy.
Under what circumstances
You probably need to take it out of the oven…. Really? I shot a bit wiht one today and it did not overheat at all. Probably 4K video does overheat but who cares I would prefer no 4K at all.
Andrea,
It seems that annoucement time is upon us Olympus have already spilled the beans and Fuji seem to be on the verge of announcing their stuff.
Any rumours about Sony before we read the news on imaging-resurce?
” I only uses Zeiss ZE,”
Lol that’s when I stopped reading. He says he does landscapes and Canon has the best specialised tools for the job but he goes for ZE instead. And who shoots sports at ISO6400, let alone with a 5D2?
And why has he been shooting with a 5D2 for such a long time? I got rid of mine a few months before the 5D3 came out because I knew it would be worthless afterwards.
Duh did you really mean this? 5d 2 is not that bad and for a person that actually knows what they use their camera for may be the AF upgrade of 5d 3 is simply not that important while the sensors of Canon have not been much improved for some 10 years now….Anyway it is fair to read a review that compares two cameras and draw own conclusions.
ZE lenses are not widely renowned for being shabby in landscape shoots as far as I know.
…and how do you shoot sports in less then ideal light? May be he is just not shooting sports at noon in July…happens to take pictures in November as well and may be indoors in less than perfect lighting…..
Ohh and how did you reach the sports section if you stopped reading a bit before that?
I had a 5D2 since the day it was released. And I’ve done plenty with it that people said they couldn’t do. But today, there are far better cameras. I’d pick a 6D any day now over a 5D2.
And ISO6400 for shooting sports is a bit shabby on a 5D2. Must have been using f/4 or slower lenses. And even at night there are these things called lights that they turn on at these events. What I find the most difficult to believe is the 5D2 focusing well enough to shoot sports in that bad light.
And no… anyone who calls themselves a landscape photographer without using lens movements is either ignorant of the subject or is not a serious photographer.
Maybe he was shooting the ZE and 5D2 for a reason, in order to use Canon’s “interchangeable” high acutance focussing screen, it’s one that’ll actually focus accuracy wide open on those MF lenses. And why would he want a 5D3 for that. A lesson for you here maybe….. LOL
Just got one one @ 9.40Am EST.. 15 left
Is SonyAlphaRumors run by Sony? Is this article even worth reading? I just saw the price of the a7RII, and shook my head. Can we please save our money and wait for one with low noise at super high ISO’s? Please? At least til the a7sII? I ain’t got that much money. I ain’t rich. Or am I?
Better learn to click on a link and look up a person and see what they have done with 5D2s and manual lenses before you reach deep in to your bag to pick up bits info that you probably learned from someone who learned from me 😉
