Ordered on day 1 and haven’t gotten my shipping notice from B&H yet 😉 😀

That’s what I suspected. They’re at the mercy of the manufacturer to supply the cameras.
Someone suggested that perhaps B&H paid a premium to get the earliest deliveries. I wonder if there’s any truth to that.
might be though I’m surprised that BestBuy got them as early as they did… wouldn’t expect them to pay a premium
ms: a store as big as Best Buy may not have to for Sony. They sell so much Sony stuff it may be standard. Or it just may be standard practice for Best Buy to just automatically make sure they get first stock. Who knows. Waiting for Best Buy to ship mine. :p
To be fair, doesn’t Adorama still have a week to fulfill their promise? I don’t know what their listed release date is, but I think most places at “First week of December” or “December 1st”.
Ordered an A7R from Amazon at 5am on day one, still getting the “We need a little more time to provide you with a good shipping estimate” on my pre-order. C’mon Amazon…
I just spoke with B&H customer service and it seems the the A7r is expected any day now. The rep also advised me that they ordered enough to cover the pre-orders but until they arrive they don’t know if they will be short from Sony.
My 35mm lens will ship from B&H today, which of course is like a huge tease without the camera (A7r)…just a few more days I hope!
I got my 35mm and la-ea4 from BH already. One thing is still missing though, my a7r.
Bestbuy shipped my a7r today too. My metabones is waiting for it.

Amazon still says that my a7r will arrive after December 25, I really regret going with Amazon, I’ll never preorder from them again. Should have went with BH.

My A7 Kit & 35mm is expected to be delivered Dec 3rd. Pre-ordered on Amazon Nov 25th with next day shipping
If this is true then congratulations to you, but I can’t believe that my delivery estimation is still AFTER the December 25th for the a7r when I made my preorder the same day they were announced!!! I would cancel if I knew of another place where I could get one sooner but there are none, in the US at least.
Before you go blaming the retailers note that they’re at the mercy of Sony USA (which itself is at the mercy of Sony Japan) for release of products for distribution. B&H and Best Buy may have paid for a quicker turnaround on distribution once stock became available from Sony USA. Also remember that the bulk of preorders were placed either when the camera was announced or when it was first available for preorder at a retailer’s site, many people preordered from multiple retailers, and the larger the retailer the longer the line.
Anyway, be happy that Sony built a really cool product and then be pissed at them for releasing it in every other region and even our neighbor Canada before the one country that talks about their photography products on the web the most.
My a7 kit arrived today from B&H. I pre-ordered about a month ago. The weather sucks where I live, so no outdoor shooting just yet.
I must say that the shutter sound is nice. All the talk about it being very loud got me a bit worried. It might be loud compared to most current mirrorless cams, but it isn’t bothersome at all.
Anyone who got a USA A7 or A7R, did they it come with a rebate for a lens adapter like those in Australia got?
I just called Sony to ask if they are offering the same deal here in Canada as they are in Australia (free adapter). Nope. Only in Australia. But they did tell me to come back to the site to see if the A7 drops in price for Black Friday weekend. Still, not fair that Australia is the only one with this promotion. You’d think Sony would give Canadians a break since we have to endure high cost of living and cold weather. Uhg.
Wait a minute!! So… Australia has beautiful weather, beautiful landscapes, beautiful women… AND they get the adapter free??
How is that fair??!

Well, the downside is everything is Australia tries to kill you from land, air and sea. So just keep an eye out for random A7’s on the ground next to a pile of bones.
Don’t they cost more there? I thought that while US/Canada didn’t get any freebies, we did get one of the lowest prices (perhaps outside of Asia) ?

I pre-ordered A7R on Amazon in the morning of October 15th and they still don’t have a delivery estimate. I can’t believe best buy beat them to the punch.

I cancelled my pre-order with BH photo (that I made on day one) a couple hours ago and ordered from Best Buy. Best Buy already charged my card and said I should get it in a few days. No shipping notice yet though.
Amp, I’m considering cancelling my Amazon preorder and trying Best Buy. Please let us know when yours ships! Also what part of the country are you in, in case availability is regional?
In the Southwest. I doubt it’s regional. Currently says Order Processing, and ‘Pre-Order Item. Ships 11/30/2013’ But as some are already getting theirs shipped, and sometimes they ship them to deliver on the launch date, who knows. Overnight shipping only cost me $8, so I’ll get it soon enough. :p

Well, to keep you posted, they just shipped the free Sony camera bag you get with ordering the A7R, but not the camera. I’m guessing they won’t ship until the 30th. (Maybe the 29th since that’s a Saturday)
Thats great news Amp hoop you get it soon. I can’t decide if I should cancel my order or not with Amazon and switch to BB, I guess I’ll wait till I get an update about my order with Amazon.
And in our continuing coverage of my last-minute switch to Best Buy, it now reads: ‘Status Not Available’. I’m assuming that means they’re getting ready to ship. Of course, it could also mean they suddenly realized they don’t have any more.
And finally, my camera from Best Buy is preparing to ship. Just to recap: Cancelled my day one pre-order and ordered from Best Buy on the 27th, now preparing to ship. Something tells me even overnight shipping won’t get it here until Monday, however.
Ordered from Best Buy on the 27th, started a race between them and Amazon. Best Buy had mine “Preparing” today, same as Amp, and it just shipped!!! Woo! Just cancelled Amazon, which still said they “need a little more time” to determine when it will ship.

Well, Best Buy shipped mine UPS Ground despite having paid for their fastest shipping available. I guess they didn’t want it to arrive before the 1st 😛
Expected delivery is Tuesday, but it’s close enough that it might arrive sooner via Ground anyway. Ah well, at least it’s on its way! 🙂
Mine just says shipped ‘express’, and UPS says the tracking number isn’t in their system yet. Though, I’ve had it arrive before the tracking number was in the system on real fast shipping before.
On a side note – I have Nikon and Canon gear. Are there any adapters for Nikon with AF? I know the mark III metabones for Canon does AF.

A7 with kit lenses are shipping from B&H, they do not ahve any A7R’s. Incorrect rumor 🙁

People have no patience anymore and everybody wants instant gratification. This is a hot item so did you really expect there to be no wait?
I don’t think it’s as much that as having other geographies getting a highly anticipated new product several weeks before one of the largest markets on Earth. (well maybe a little impatience 😉 )
that and the internet which lets you see other people taking great shots with their new toys… just builds up the anticipation, where as if it wasn’t in your face online, then you wouldn’t think of it as much
@admin: amazon fr has adjusted pricing for a7. Perhaps it was just a glitch? Anyone know more about it?
Placed an order for A7r from Best Buy about an hour ago and just got shipping confirmation.
Somewhat off-topic: My 35mm f/2.8 FE lens arrived (still no a7R sadly), but when I turn the focus ring it makes a sort of scraping sound. I think the focus ring is touching the side of the little recess it sits in. If I gently push the focus ring forward (away from the camera) while turning it, it doesn’t make any sound.
It’s not terribly annoying, but it’s bugging me. Might have to exchange it 🙁 Has anyone else experienced this?
Got mine yesterday and it was making that noise too. Couldn’t figure out what it was but now I know. Wonder how common this problem is…
I hope to try some of my FF Nikor glass on the A7 soon, using the FotoDiox Nikon G to NEX adapter.
Does anyone know if this adapter provides full frame coverage?
Other than the Sony made adapters the rest are basically spacers to cover flange differances. So if the lens covers FF, it will work.
Not necessarily. Some of the NEX adaptors (Any of the previous metabones, for example) actually have a shade to only let light onto the APC-S sensor area. Doesn’t hurt to check.
Hi, I know you are very busy. Sorry to ask these once again.
I really want to buy the A7(R). But there’s a few rumors I want to know about before I buy it.
Will the FF E mount camera(s) release(s) in 2014 have:
1) IBIS (5 axis from Olympus?)
2) On Sensor PDAF as good as E-M1 from Olympus?
Of course there could be many other features, but these two are definitely be something I want if they offer it. IBIS as good as Olympus’ benefits all lens mounted especially those manual glasses, and also get IS in video with those big aperture lenses.
And PDAF as good as E-M1 could means it can “replace” a possible SLT I need.

I picked up my A7 with 28-70 yesterday from G & G Electronics in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
I ordered via Amazon USA about an hour before official url was up. The powers that be, tell me I’m in the first 10 of the list. This is for the a7r. I’m told they ship on Sunday night Monday morning. Can’t wait. A7 kits have apparently begun allocation and shipping.
