Alpha 580 review at Photoclubalpha!

[shoplink 4617][/shoplink]

David Kilpatrick from Photoclubalpha posted a nine page long and very accurate Sony A580 review: “there is no better APS-C DSLR available from Sony.”

P.S: On page eight he writes about the flash delay issue: “Whatever the reason, the new generation suffers from flash exposure delays all round, and this one is set to cause Sony a problem. No matter what the explanation, if other makers can provide near real-time flash and all the other required features, Sony should be able to do so too.” Hope Sony is listening…

    1. Too late. I’ve given up waiting and have just gone out and bought the D7000 instead. Sorry Sony. You had your chance (for well over a year now).

    1. to alex: what is wrong with a mirror?

does a mirrorless camera allow you to make better pics? do you really believe that?

i wish you all the luck in the world with the slt´s, but it isn´t going to improve your photography.. sony wants to make you believe that it is..since the pro´s all use dslr´s with slapping mirrors, and sony can´t keep pace, with the pro-market, they re-invented the wheel, and started pushing this slt-technology to the hobbyists, because that is the market, sony is aiming at.. hobbyists have always believed, that the ´other, newer´ camera or lens would make their pics better, bit it has never been that way…

      keep on dreaming..

  1. I’m sorry but the entire line of Sony Alphas released over the past two years has been a total joke.

I love my A850 and I loved my A700 that I regrettably sold in anticipation of a replacement that never materialized (and never will)…but when you actually hold an A580 in your hands, it feels like the toy that it is and come on…pentamirror? Hell no!!!

I’m done with Sony. If I want a good APS body I’m going to get a Pentax K-5 (sans spotty sensor).

If you think the A580 is a “great camera” then you haven’t experienced some truely great cameras, period.

  2. Something ain’t right:) Even though I do use a550 professionally and tried a580, I can’t trust it completely. The new ergonomics took me a while to get used to, now are fast, but could use some better external control placement. I love the tilt screen and this implementation of live view , quick focus check. Memory recall settings are very welcome – I hope to see that on A7xx. For now A550 is used along side the wonderful A850
