Kipon-Baveyes today announced the development the first medium format to Sony E-mount lens reducer adapter!
It’s the BAVEYES HB-S / E 0.7x adapter. You can now mount Hasselblad C Series – F Series – CF series lenses on Sony Full Frame E-mount cameras. You keep the original focal length and gain 1 stop aperture by using the adapter.
There is no word on pricing and shipment at Kipons site.

You DONT keep the original focal length. Devices like this are also called focal length reducers. In this case the focal length is reduced by the factor 0,7x and the aperture number are multiplied by the same factor. I.E a 100mm f/4 will be reduced to a 70mm f/2,8. Shorter focal length also means the focal flange distance must be reduced in order to be able to focus at infinity. The image circle diameter is reduced by the same factor, making it suitable for sensors 0,7x the original size (length, height or diagonal). The aperture diameter stays the same as original.
What it should say is that you keep the field of view, which, although wrong, has almost become synonymous with “focal length” since so many cameras with a sensor smaller than 24×36 convert the lens focal length to a “full frame equivalent”, sometimes even putting that number prominently on the lens barrel.
I wonder the practicality of this adapter though. An 80mm f2 becomes essentially a 50mm f1.4 on the Sony. There are some nice 80mm f2 MF lenses out there, but will it really give a result notably different than the many 50mm f1.4 lenses that can already be adapted to the Sony? Side-by-sides would be interesting.
how does this work with the leaf shutter in those lenses? it doesn’t look like it has the mechanics to trigger the lens from the camera
