  1. Nice sensor and good specs – and the decent 16-50mm – but NO Mode Dial – you have to pay a lot more 馃檪
It took awhile for the NEX to finally get a Mode Dial in the NEX6 – so the A5100 is mean for beginners only or users that never change from the Green Auto mode
I think Sony should focus now more on Lenses for the E-mount – rather then endless bodies – now Sony NEX5 – 5n – 5R – 5T – and A51000 and A5100 – lot of bodies in a short time but hardly any lenses

    1. You mean like that beginner’s-only, green Auto mode only, Canon 1D X? *rolleyes*

There are certain advantages to NOT having that mode dial that beginners who fixate on aspiring to the look of a “serious” camera wouldn’t understand… like being able to change shooting modes by tethered controls. You can’t do that when you have a dedicated, context-insensitive dial. You have to touch the camera.

Beginners probably can’t understand the desire to set up a camera in a single spot to shoot a single scene for a few hours at a time, and only manipulating controls remotely. That’s just lazy photography, right? Snap, snap, snap away is the only way to go for Pro! 馃槈

And the “no lenses” troll is a little old.
