Some sign of life from Ricoh: 24mm f/2.0 lens patent for mirrorless APS-C.

Well, there is not a lot going on with Ricoh’s mirrorless cameras (namely GXR system). The only news we can report is that Egami spotted a patent describing a 24mm f/2.0 lens for a mirrorless APS-C camera.

This raises a big question: Is Ricoh going to launch a new APS-C mirrorless system?

  1. Ricoh already got two APS-C mirrorless systems. Ricoh GXR (A12 28, A12-50, A16-24-85) and Pentax K (K-01). I doubt they want a third. Both systems may use this design. Ricoh GXR modules can be made to accompany this short flange back distance. Pentax K-01 have plenty of empty space between the lens mount and the sensor. That means lens mount flange some place on the middle of the optic construction.

  2. Am I the only one hoping that this is the lens for the long awaited GR camera with 35mm (equiv) lens? C’mon Ricoh, make it happen! 🙂
