There is an interesting interview at Samsungimaging about the NX future. But the most exciting news here is the picture I do post below:

Those are all camera prototypes from Samsung. There is Hasselblad styled camera, a camera with nice old style manual controls that looks like the Leica X1 leathered camera. Only the white model looks really ugly 🙂

The white one may be ugly, but it looks as if Samsung are looking at an NX100 type with swinging screen and this is a rough mock up.
If that ‘blad looking one is a square format digital with a waist-level viewfinder, I’ll buy two.
If that was square format full-frame, then I would get it for sure. 😀 (36x36mm)
HEY…HEY…..Now…I have a white GF1….I bought is on ebay…White was not sold in the USA…think it was one of the test models…it has a RED shutter release. The marketed ones shutter release was chrome. I have to tell you…everywhere I go with that camera it is a show stopper. Everyone says…DUDE…what a cool camera…so…I think beauty may be in the eye of the beholder. PLUS..it doesn’t get hot in the sun! I love it.
You have Japanese version, though shutter really shouldnt be red.
interesting video…
Almost voted for the white ugly, just because it made me laugh :),
Go samsung! i have high hopes for them, it really looks like they pay alot attention to costumers wants and needs
That retro camera looks beautiful. It would be great if one of these manufacturers was willing to put out a digital rangefinder. I would definitely buy one.
please release the Leica X1 style prototype Samsung, i will buy it!
Well.. if the Hasselblad prototype will contain a 6×6 sensor, then it would be an instant hit. The 6×6 sensor is what a hole photographic world is waiting for..
Imagine price of that.. and we can start dreaming again. Big sensor = expensive one. Unless Samsung developed some groundbreaking technology..
Though, I dont say I wouldnt buy it if I could. 😀 But I dont think Samsung wants to win medium format market.
> What prototype camera do you like?
What prototype has a VF?
At least to me the answer to both questions would be the same.
Somehow I feel Samsung is getting a hang on the camera thing.
I can not make out any obvious viewfinder on any of these models so none get a vote from me.
The blad style is interesting –
If it is just 3:2 APS-C then the form factor is not ideal unless the sensor is out and out tailored to be shooting with good light in studio/location environments – minimal AA filter, large dynamic range in low iso (25-400 range) etc.
A square APS-C square format sensor might be interesting (23.4mm x 23.4mm) again – if tailored to low iso high dynamic range.
I think Samsung would be better off to go for Mamiya functionality in design rather than an attempt at a knock-off Blad that’s plastic and not leather and chrome.
Which one do you mean by Leica X1 style camera? I can see two prototypes on the left: the one with manual controls leaning on the “Hasselblad” and the slim one next to it liing on its back with the big lens attached.
I’d like to see both coming. With an improves attachable viewfinder. Or even with a EVF somehow built in. I would accept a (much) smaller LCD in favour of a EVF.
BTW: I’m also looking forward to a new NX10 style camera…
They have a target market called “Wannabees” (see video @ 1min 11secs).
That’s funny! But real.
Olympus needs better market research!
What is the lens mounted on the Sammy-Hassy? It doesn’t look like any of the current/announce NX lenses.
I like the Leica X1 type body, but I would rather it had an incorporated EVF. By the way, it reminded me of Samsung’s old TL320:
…or the TL350:
I guess inline pics don’t work. Here are the links.

Where’s poll option for people that don’t like any of the prototypes?
I don’t like all those wheels on Leica X1 styled compact, but I’d like Samsung to make something similar to Fuji X100, just to see the reaction of all those who ask for interchangeable lens version of X100. Would they buy such camera from a company that has no tradition in photo equipment?
I like the approach from Samsung though – they are throwing cash on R&D of NX system big time and are willing to show their intentions to consumers unlike Olympus for example, that isn’t even adhering to its lens roadmap shown last September. So far, we’ve seen both future lenses and body prototypes from Samsung. Unlike m4/3 users, NX users at least have some hint what to expect. Sony is somewhere in the middle, having shown new lenses mockups only.
If that X1 lookalike has an EVF then I would be most interested. Bonus points if you can change the ISO with one of those rotary buttons (I think it does!)
I want to see what they come up with. I am looking to change systems from nikon because of the small size and HD video in one. I love the idea of having iso, apeturer, white balence. I just hope they can improve there sensor.
I just realised there is a 4th camera in that picture. The body lying down on the left with a lens attached is different to the X1 look-alike. It’s easier to see in the photo without text:

Unfortunately, acc. to Popular Photography, these are early prototypes (prior to the NX that we have today), and are sadly not the next generation. They are designs that were rejected in favor of what we actually got. Sad.
Interesting that all their prototypes look like other folks design – why is Samsung like Kia, all the features are there but they are not really that exciting to look at.
The market is waiting for a mirrorless camera with a big sensor.
At least 48x36mm (twice fullframe 35mm) or beter a CMOS sensor 40×50 mm
A small range of lenses is required: 28mm f2.8 , 35mm f 2.8 , 65mm 2.0 standard, 135mm 2.8 portrait and a 200 4.0 tele
Maybe a zoom 35-90mm f 3.5
Viewfinder Fuji pro-x style , magnesium body, 40MP resolution 16 bits.
