  1. Leica goes mainstream. The lenses don’t have an aperture ring, so it’s automatically controlled. Accordingly the “T” will have autofocus and I guess also a touchscreen, Filter thread is 46mm like my m43 glasses. Nice, no need to spend money for new filters! If now the price should be less than 1.000,- bucks (of cause without lens) I’ll certainly get one. 🙂 At least another compact APS-C system camera.

  2. It looks awfully like a sumsung… Leica isn’t going win a lot of praise from their fan base with that. I hope they at least make the lenses for other mounts. I think That 23mm f2 has potential in sony and fuji mounts.

  3. Indeed, this is Leica’s little own EOS-M project. Far too expensive and for sure it won’t harm the Leica M sales. Not even the rebranded Lumix range. And also very much focussing the local market I suppose, it won’t take very long before the mainstream German fotomagazines will rate this camera to be so much better than any other X-T1 or A7-r on the market. Regarding that business as usual, but I just can’t understand why Leica doesn’t seem to be able to develop a camera that is acceptable by much larger crowds, offering the right specs and feature-set at a justified price, or because it’s Leica: only a little bit more expensive. Something in my right toe tells me this overly luxury story completed with fine leather bags and special series branding won’t last forever… Who in an already much too overcrowded MLIC-market is getting bewildered by an X1, X2, X vario or now T all at price levels that are completely over the top and – be honest – offering nothing really special versus competition?

    1. They could design a camera for the mainstream but could not build it at a scale that could compete. Their market is hand crafted pieces of art for the very rich and with tight constraints

  4. The only interesting feature seems to be the optional evf, that’s something that any camera shaped like this should have.

  5. I think there are good things to learn from it. I.e. I wish that Olympus used that native clarity in its Menus. OTH not having buttons you can’t really operate the camera from the EVF, can you?

Camera can be operated from iPhone with GPS, surprising for Leica – so it’s a new paradigm. It has something everybody else should: 16 Mpx internal memory.

Sensor shows that you cannot improve over the other small sensors, we’ve reached the limit, so the lenses will make some difference.

You can also see it as a camera for Leica wives.

Price with lens: 2400? Lower than expected.
