A new sources sent me info this morning about a possible new Panasonic LX8 camera. He writes:
Panasonic lx8 comming soon.On July 16!Build in EVF and bigger Sensor.looks similar to the lx7
I have no track of the source and therefore take it with a grain of salt! 🙂
P.S.: After the Sony Rx100M3 and the soon to be announced Fuji X30 this would become the third large sensor compact camera with built-in EVF.

Most manufacturers seem to have got the message. Ppl spending in a discrete camera (serious enough to step up from a camera phone) want an integrated evf. I think that in 2014/15 no mirrorless or compact camera in the 500+$ (launch price) range will have to be w/o an evf.
The Olympus Pen team refuse to hear that message, apparently.
> want an integrated evf.
Lack or presence of the EVF isn’t the problem per se. The problem is that current display tech (even AMOLED) performs really poor in bright daylight. The same daylight the sensor of the cameras requires to make good images.
As soon as display tech gets there, OVF/EVF on small/tiny cameras would be totally superficial. Question is, whether the display tech ever gets there. 🙁
I have tried a fjhi x-t1 (both in bright and low ligh condions) and I’ve been amazed by its evf. It looks like a 50” tv set 🙂 colors are very, very rich and dr is great.
Ok, ovf have probably still a small edge, but I don’t think this can compromise an exposition.
The problem is that only fuji (and to a lesser extent sony and olympus) seem to have such a good tech, right now. The others are way behind, with sequential display with washed out colors and low frame rates in lowlight.
The EVFs in the FujiFilm X-T1 and the Olympus E-M1 work quite well in bright daylight.

Let’s see if admin of mirroless rumors can finally understand the errors in his thinking.
How is this off topic? Any corporate strategy might have clue and hint on their plans for mirrorless.
I hope they would keep the size. And lens. And price. It would be a sweet little cam.
