I keep imagining the Nikon management meetings where clueless executives kept pushing to reduce the sensor size of the Nikon 1 for it not to cannibalize DSLR sales.

If Nikon started mirrorless with APS-C sensors Samsung would not have the NX line as it does today.
1″ is always 1″ regardless of a camera’s capabilities.
Images from 1″ sensors seen very flat to me.
Nikon 1 sales are pretty good in Asia I believe. Different market than DSLR. This looks like it could have the same sensor as the Samsung NXF1 with similar fps.
Maybe clueless to you, but your argument is probably correct. Nikon as of now does not intend to offer an alternative to DSLR, but rather an additional camera. Once mirror less market will get stronger they will surely come with one. Now whether that will be too late for them to penetrate the market – who know. Strong name is what pretty much only Nikon and Canon have.
