(Low credibility rumor) Canon to announce a new entry level EOS-M camera next month?

(Low credibility rumor):

CanonEOSM

Canon officially said they will have some “mirrorless news” in October. But if that rumor from Canonrumors turns out to be true than our expectations should be really…looooooow! CR says the camera will be a new entry level EOS-M camera. I really do hope it’s not! Please Canon…get serious! We need a High End EOS-M

  1. Admin, whilst I share your scepticism, why would our expectation be so low? – Maeda in his interview with Imaging Resource was careful to say something was coming that HE – Imaging Resource – would really like: clearly, an entry-spec M3 does not rise to that level. We are used to Canon kidology, but really an awful lot of Canon users (I’m not one!) would be disenchanted yet again! Surely a meagre M3Mk.2 would be a Canon own-goal, they must see that. You are right, Canon needs to field a high-end mirrorless. With lenses!

    1. 18MP sensor, no exposure compensation dial, no mode dial, no wifi, no “grip”… and maybe no hotshoe.

      It’s not that hard.

(Edit: removing the “no swivel screen” — Canon would be crazy to miss the selfie market.)
