Capture Your Signature Moment with Samsung NX500

New Samsung NX500 succeeds the core performance of the NX1’s DNA in a portable, compact device designed for everyday use MONACO – February 5, 2015 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd today announced the launch of its new camera, NX500, combining industry-leading design and technology for everyday use, with the capabilities that professional photographers can rely on. Featuring advanced technology such as high resolution 28MP BSI APS-C sensors, 4K and UHD video recording, a best in class DRIMeV image processor, NX AF system III, and Samsung Auto Shot, the NX500 has the core functionality of the NX1 engineered into a portable and convenient size. Updated connectivity via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi provide users with an advanced wireless experience, as well as the ability to seamlessly shoot and share their captured experiences. “We recognize the sentimental value of a photograph in people’s lives and being able to capture and share the perfect moment from wherever they are. That is why Samsung has built a camera suitable for everyday photographers,” said Sangmoo Kim, Senior Vice President of IT & Mobile Communication at Samsung Electronics. “The compact size of the NX500 and its revolutionary shooting and focus speed allow consumers to enjoy superb image quality. We are redefining what is possible for people who are not professional photographers, and offering everyone the ability to capture their signature moments in every shot.”     Superior Image Quality – 28MP Still and 4K Video The NX500 guarantees superb image quality and vivid photographs, regardless of the shooting scenario or subject. With its ultra-high resolution 28MP Back Side Illumination APS-C sensor, NX500 has the ability to take the perfect shot, even in low light situations. It also supports both 4K and UHD video recording, utilizing BSI APS-C sensors, the largest BSI sensor currently available, which provides more flexibility when it comes to recording movies. The built-in HEVC Codec, the most advanced compression technology available, brings efficiency to the storage of video clips by compressing high quality video to half the size and the bit rate of H.264 footage, without any compromise on quality. Additionally, still images captured from Interval Capture mode can easily be converted into a UHD Time-lapse video directly on the camera, without the need to transfer images to a PC. Unparalleled responsiveness The NX500 is equipped with a DRIMeV processor, which is much faster than its predecessor. This feature boasts superior color reproduction, improved noise reduction and enhanced image quality, providing users with results that serious photographers crave. Combined with an innovative 28MP sensor and Hybrid AF system, users can capture even the briefest of moments by simply focusing and shooting immediately, allowing for extreme speed and flexibility. Additionally, 9FPS continuous shooting means NX500 users can easily monitor and capture ongoing action shots. Further enhancing the NX500’s action capture capability, the Samsung Auto Shot (SAS) feature uses motion detection to accurately predict when to capture the perfect shot in difficult scenarios, such as when a child fields a baseball.           Ergonomic design and functional connectivity The ergonomic design of the palm-sized NX500 allows users to carry the camera with a comfortable grasp at all times. With a Tilt and Flip up function, as well as bright vision through the display, users can easily take the perfect selfie. Also, the NX500 provides seamless wireless set-up with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC. With its outstanding data transfer speed and Bluetooth functionality, users can send both large images and video files swiftly to other smartphones and tablets. The Samsung NX500 will come in three colors: Black, White, and Brown, and will be available globally starting in March 2015. 1. If it had an evf, it would have been a dream camera. Like it is, makes me want a nx1 despite its size.

What about buffer and burst rate?

    1. I don’t mind the size of NX1, but i mind the price. NX1 is the first ILC that fits my hands nicely. A viewfinder of some kind is a must so NX500 is not at all interesting.

      1. But to a lot of people it is interesting. Very interesting.

The most popular Sony NEX camera? The A6000.
The most popular Olympus m43 camera? The E-M5.
The most popular Fuji camera(s)? The X-T1 and X-E1/E2.
The most popular Panasonic cameras? Lumix G5/6 and GH3/4.

What all the cameras have in common? Built-in EVF.

        1. They also have something else in common, barring Fuji (who offer more mirrorless levels then samsung) they are all in the top 2 in each manufacturers pyramid, this is Samsungs third tier, just above its new entry level NX3300

even if it did have a in built EVF youd all be on here complaining that it was low res haha. Id like to see a external EVF option personally but doubt Samsung will do it as the market this camera is aimed at dont look for one

  2. Old rumours say that they planed a second version with evf. Since they did not present one so i think it was only wishes of their clients. I think that samsung should make a additional evf like you could buy for nx100.

    1. > it was only wishes of their clients.

Instead they should have asked those who haven’t became their clients – why they haven’t.

      > I think that samsung should make a additional evf like you could buy for nx100.

Add-on EVFs as a mass market feature have failed. They have their own advantages, but to majority of users the advantages fail to outweigh the much higher price and the added bulk and hustle. (It doesn’t help that some of the advantages of add-on EVFs (e.g. tilt, larger screen size) are offered literally for free by the vendor’s own smartphone remote control apps.)

      1. Mayby but almost all mirrorless camera systems that don’t have evf’s build in have aditional evf’s that you can buy. Samsung had one for nx100 why they stoped making them for the newer model’s i don’t understend. The nx x00 is a nice compact system but as for my i won’t stay with it becouse the lack of a viewfiinder.

  3. They have no idea of the market. This price bracket people expect evf. Not a bloody flip screen for selfies. I dispare.

    1. I own the high-end dslrs and also own the sony a5100 for flip screen just like the nx500.
When I’m out with my child I grab the a5100 for one handed selfies with my kid.
I think it’s a brilliant idea. This camera fit the bill perfectly for people who want high quality images with
casual shooter feature such as this.

    2. yeh you tell them!! Samsung don’t know how to sell things and make money thats why they are such a small electronics company 😛

Youd better tell Sony, Panasonic , Olympus and Fuji the same as none have EVFs in their entry level CSCs, DUMB ASS COMPANIES!!

  4. Golden price see only cannot buy.
In Thailand, Samsung achieve TV market share because of more feature and cheaper price . but for camera they do reverse.
    – No one trust in Camera Service,
    – Lens is rare items and golden price
    – Camera price is golden price and until now NX300 still 750 $
    – Sony camera is very attractive price , more discount in camera and put option buy 50f1.8 50% price
If auto focus , continuous focus performance are same as NX1 , I will buy one from Ebay when the price is $500.

Note: Samsung don’t have build in evf and camera look like A6000, so no one promote camera.
