Venus Optics announced the new ACRIS 35mm f/2.8 1X Macro APO L-mount lens. You can get it for $449 at Venus Store, Amazon, BHphoto. Pity it’s only manual focus when the E/Z/EF version do support autofocus.
What makes the Laowa ACRIS 35mm f/2.8 special is its combination of a wide 35mm perspective and true 1:1 macro magnification—a pairing Laowa claims is a world first for a full-frame autofocus lens. It can capture life-size detail while retaining more of the subject’s surroundings than a traditional telephoto macro lens. It also features APO optics for minimal color fringing, an f/2.8 aperture, weather-resistant metal construction.

Sigma has officially confirmed that it will hold a product announcement event on October 24. The company’s German division has begun inviting photographers to follow the event through a dedicated newsletter.
Sigma does not often promote its announcements with such a broad public invitation, so this could be more than a routine product launch.
Previous rumors suggested that Sigma was developing the world’s fastest autofocus lens for full-frame cameras—potentially a 65mm f/1.1 or even an f/1.0 model. Whether that lens will make its debut on October 24 remains to be seen, but I hope to share more details soon.
