fpSup published a home made firmware for the Sigma FP. Before we kick off….be aware of the RISKS! Installing a modified firmware can brick your camera and developer Vitali LI stresses that it remains a work in progress and should be used at your own risk.
The modified firmware adds a 3K mode to the camera’s Quick Set menu, enabling 12-bit CinemaDNG recording at 3000 × 2000 and 24 fps to an external SSD. Unlike the standard 16:9 recording mode of the Sigma Fp it uses the sensor’s entire 3:2 area. It works through native 2×2 and even reduces the Rolling Shutter down to 12.44ms.
It’s possible more new features will be made available in the future. But would you risk ruining a $2500 camera for that?
