I have three big L-mount news to share today:

First: New Sigma 50-120mm f/2.8 APS-C lens coming on October 8

I got not confirmation if that includes an L-mount version, all I know for sure is that this is the next lens coming from Sigma. What’s unclear is if Sigma will also announce another fast Full Frame prime lens on October 24th

Second: Exciting L-mount Cine camera is coming!

I have now reliable sources confirming that soon we will get a new Cine L-mount cameras. I am working on the specs now and should be able to share some details next week!

Sigma has officially confirmed that it will hold a product announcement event on October 24. The company’s German division has begun inviting photographers to follow the event through a dedicated newsletter.

Sigma does not often promote its announcements with such a broad public invitation, so this could be more than a routine product launch.

Previous rumors suggested that Sigma was developing the world’s fastest autofocus lens for full-frame cameras—potentially a 65mm f/1.1 or even an f/1.0 model. Whether that lens will make its debut on October 24 remains to be seen, but I hope to share more details soon.

Would you be interested in a 65mm f/1.1 L-mount lens?

Trusted sources have confirmed that Sigma will release more L-mount lenses in October/November. I should have more details soon…
…Any wishes?”

The Sigma 20-60mm f/2.8-4.0 will be announced tomorrow along with the Sigma 85mm f/1.2.

On September 8 Sigma will announce those two lenses:

A source now told me this:

The Sigma 85/1.2 will start shipping out on Sep 30 on and will cost 1600€

I have not yet the price of the zoom lens nor the price in USD. The most exciting news I would love to get is some tidbits about that super fast 65mm f/1.1 (or 1.0) lens that Sigma is working on 🙂

Trusted sources (thanks!) have now confirmed that Sigma will announce these two new lenses on September 8:

The third lens might be EPIC:

Back in April, reliable leaker How2Fly said this:

So far, however, none of my sources have been able to confirm it. At best, we might get some sort of development announcement, like Sigma did with the 85mm f/1.2. But I truly hope this lens will be show on September 8. It would become the world’s fastest Full Frame autofocus lens ever made! And yes…likely to be big and heavy too 🙂

What is your bet…will this be a 65mm f/1.1 or a 65mm f/1.0?

See ya soon!

Rumors has it that Sigma will soon have a major product announcement event. Of course we will likely get the already pre-announced new 85mm f/1.2. But according to my sources we should get one more zoom and also maybe the world’s fastest 65mm lens!

Stay tuned!

I think we will at leats get ONE new L-mount camera in autumn. The candidates are:

Lumix S1H II– The holy grail for cinema-hybrid shooters. Heavily rumored to feature a high-res or partially stacked sensor, 8K/5.1K open gate recording, advanced cooling, and an ecosystem built to rival cinema-centric setups like the Sony FX5.
Lumix S5 III – The next-gen mainstream hybrid. Anticipated to inherit refined ergonomics, a new processing engine, and next-generation AI-driven Phase Detection AF algorithms built on the success of the S5 II.
Lumix S5R – The wildcard resolution machine. A rumored high-megapixel variant (speculated around 60MP) designed to bring studio and landscape-grade resolution down into the more compact S5 form factor.
Lumix S9 II – The compact creator evolution. Rumored as a direct response to user feedback on the first-gen S9—with community wishlists heavily pointing toward the addition of an electronic viewfinder (EVF) or hot shoe while retaining the pocketable size.

Which one do you hope to get in late 2026?

  • Lumix S9 II (Fix the quirks—add a hot shoe/EVF to a mini body) (42%, 276 Votes)
  • Lumix S1H II (Bring on the ultimate cinema-hybrid beast) (35%, 230 Votes)
  • Lumix S5 III (The next-gen hybrid workhorse I need) (11%, 74 Votes)
  • Lumix S5R (Give me high-res pixels in a lighter body) (6%, 41 Votes)
  • Something else / Totally unexpected (Give us an S1X or modular camera) (5%, 31 Votes)

Total Voters: 575

The rumor mill has been unusually quiet over the past few months. Don’t blame me for that—Panasonic has announced only one new L-mount product in 2026: the Lumix 40mm pancake lens in 2026!

However, 2026 marks the 25th anniversary of the LUMIX brand. Panasonic has already started celebrating this important milestone, but it would be surprising if the company had nothing else planned for the remainder of the year.
The autumn announcement season would be the perfect opportunity to unveil something special. This is only speculation for now, but let’s hope the recent silence is simply the calm before the storm!
