X30

We first heard about the X30 thanks to xjrumo back in JulyΒ  here.

On December 30th digicame-info confirmed that Fuji is ready to launch the X30. According to digicame-info it will be announced in February/March here.

Just now an anonymous source told me via rumor box that:

  • it’s correct, Fuji will launch the X30
  • it won’t come in February/March, but later (the source just said β€œsummer”).

You know it: anonymous source = take it with a tiny grain of salt.

Both, the X20 and XQ1 are currently discounted until the 1st of March:

X20: get it for $499 (save $100) at AmazonUS, BHphoto and Adorama (+4% reward)
XQ1: get tit for $399 (save $100) at AmazonUS, BHphoto and Adorama.

Feel free to contact Fujirumors, also completely anonymously via rumor box, and to share your knowledge with the whole FR-community. You can give yourself an imaginary name, so that I can recognize you in future… or create a fake email account. Any help is really appreciated.

  1. That’s great. Definitely curious if it can compete with the RX100(II) on sensor size.
As a camera, the X20 already is genius so they’ve got that covered. πŸ˜€

Don’t think the 27mm will fit though. πŸ˜‰

    1. Thanks for sharing. A more honest review of the EVF and autofocus; might be a disappointment to some. Won’t cancel my pre-order over this though.

    2. Thanks for this one. Seems like a very legit review with no bias involved. The reviewer obviously handled Fuji cameras for awhile now. Pocketlint never struck me as a great camera review site due to my ignorance against them, but this changed my mind.

    3. I can’t find a single image or series in this review that would demonstrate the speed, slowness or accuracy of the tracking AF. Where are the test samples? Plus, I can’t confirm a blurry EVF in low light. You will only get blur when you set the shutter speed to 1/15s or slower, which is perfectly normal and is true for all light conditions.

  2. It really hurts to see all this discounts on the US market.
In Germany we pay for the FUJIFILM 27/2,8 XF 449 Euro
in the US it is 200$ to Euro + VAT = 173 Euro.
    We loose 276 Euro or (- VAT ) = 316 $ !

This is really painful and it makes it difficult to like Fuji,
because Fuji gives me the feeling that they are milking us.
This differences are not reasonable !
To Fuji: Please lower the prices here in Germany (and everywhere else) or raise the prices in the US !

      1. Dirk, i don’t think it’s possible to buy on amazon.com from Europe (i live in France), but if you know how to do, please tell us because i think many people in Europe will be interested !

        1. Yes it sometimes is, as it is now. Sometimes electronic items are restricted to US only, but not for this it seems. From Amazon itself to Germany its 270€ including taxes (I assume this is MwSt and some import duty).

SO the funny thing here is that Fuji try to get market share in the US and sells a bunch of stuff to the ROTW instead.

Fuji is a confused company …

  3. Please, a bigger sensor without a big aperture sacrifice – read RX100. The new Canon G1XII seems to have the specs for bigger sensor, length and aperture, c’mon Fuji, do it!

    1. I rather have a wider aperture at 24~50mm even if it means a bit of sacrifice on the tele end, if I really wanted bokeh for potraits, I would buy a bigger sensor and bigger aperture, but as you won’t really get that even with a f/2.8 – on that 1″ sensor – a fast aperture on side/standard focal length is more desirable for low light situations.

  4. I think that Fuji should cut their losses on that compact camera and focus on milking money out of greater fools.
Fuji should market to the world a new sensor (let’s call it “organic sensor”) which is 10 times better than previous sensors, and just like the X-Trans, as long as they make sure it is not supported by any raw processor and that it cannot be benchmarked they should be fine, carried by power of autosuggestion and cognitive dissonance of people who payed double for the camera and triple for the lenses.

  5. I like my X20, but would appreciate a bigger sensor and better high ISO. Not so keen, however, on replacing my X20 after a year-and-a-half only, but such is the cycle of digital innovation. Still, if it could cover my needs, better than having to buy several expensive lenses. (Canon is also expected to release a GX1 II with its large sensor).

    1. Sakana-kun: My guess is that they will either make an announcement at that time, or extend the discount until they are ready for the announcement. But that’s just speculation.

  6. Have to balance: a great charm of X10 and X20 is it’s small size. I too want bigger sensor and could deal with some increase in camera size. But too much and it’s no longer the same camera we love. Definitely don’t want big and clunky like Canon G1X.

  7. beside a bigger sensor & a better view finder, I hope they also add build-in wifi. So it’s easier for us to upload the pictures that we took to our favorite social media platform via our smart phone.
