Big Fuji Show: X200 and X-PRO2 to be announced at photokina? (source – mirrorlessrumors)

 photo freudianslip_zps12260207.jpg

At BHphoto you can get the X-PRO2 screen protector now and the camera in about 6 months (according to mirrorlessrumors) πŸ˜‰

_ _ _

Big Fuji show at the photokina, at least according to mirrorlessrumors here: They say that Fuji will announce both, the X-PRO2 and X200 (both, according to mirrorlessrumors, with non organic new ASP-C X-Trans sensor) at the photokina (September).

They also say, that the X30 will feature a 1” sensor (while xjrumo said here the sensor will be bigger than 1”) and come earlier (dpr rumored here July 3rd).

  1. Mirrorless Rumors said, Organic sensor is about to come in 2 years from now? You must be kiddin… 5 years is more realistic. The Xpro4 will feature an organic sensor, that sounds more like a trustworthy statement.
Nevertheless, the XPro2 will be awesome.

    1. 5 years?? I was thinking two years is a long time. I thought the organic sensor would be announced with the xpro2. Darn! I’m not upgrading until there is a sensor revolution.

        1. Biodegradable is indeed where it gets interesting, i.e. for how long will the sensor performance remain until it gets oxidized? I guess it needs to perform for at least five years before degrading noticeably, or the buyers will think twice before buying a camera with an organic sensor again.

          1. What if they made it replaceable, like the CPU in a computer? Then you could upgrade your sensor, while keeping the same outdated body!

          2. I was JOKING guys! Didn’t the ‘keep the same outdated body’ tip you off?

          3. But even if that was an option we would not like to have to change sensor say every other year? That would be waste of time and energy (money). The longevity of the organic sensors needs to be good enough before launch. Btw I am sure that Trenton was joking, just could not help bringing a serious aspect to the discussion. πŸ™‚

          4. Might take some time to rear the proper tree that will grow the sensors that last more than 5 years. ^^

      1. Your reading comprehension is lacking. Re-read what I wrote, think, and then correct your reply.

        1. I think “the cat” understood your comment about intertextuality but was simply pointing out that ultimately rumour sites report rumours and mostly they report what other people are saying whether it be via email or on other websites. Hence Patrick’s post it is not ridiculous. By the way Patrick does a great job and should be supported and encouraged to keep up the fantastic effort he makes for all of us.

    1. I remember you on photorumors hating on Fuji. How come you don’t say the same thing about photorumors.com for reposting from other rumor sites like FR.

      You rat.

        1. Which part of my post is ignorant? You complain Fuji Rumors repost rumors from other site, but you don’t complain when photorumors do the same thing.

Where is the ignorance? If anything you’re the one being ignorant.

Or where you referring to me calling you a rat? That’s not really ignorant, that’s really you though.

Also just had a look through your profile, from the looks of it you just like to troll. And posting dodgy articles about climate change not being real, when most credible scientists think otherwise just shows how ignorant you are.

You know how you can tell if someone is trolling? When they have more posts on their profile than up votes. You got no credibility.

          1. i love that Ratty claims to hate fuji so much and at the same time claims to own at least 9 fuji cameras. “no credibility” is an understatement

        2. from reading many of your other comments on this site, you obviously are not a fan of the fuji brand of camera……so why do you have so many of them?

  2. If the XPro2 has a 24mpix APS-C or a 36 mpix FF, I will reconsider my D800 system as main. Why? Fuji has/will have an excellent line of lenses that suits me very well. Improved resolution will match the lenses. Fuji X is a little expensive (for my budget) and big to have as second system.

  3. If the organic sensor is not even close to ready yet, I don’t know why they released that promotional ad about it over a year or year and a half ago. By the time it is ready for production, the hype will be gone. Poor marketing, in my opinion.

As much as I am interested in the X-Pro 2, without improvements in image quality, there may be no reason for me to upgrade. With just an X-Trans sensor, they will need to introduce it with some significant improvements for it to be worth the upgrade:

    – 1/8000th of a second shutter speed
    – ISO 100 as base ISO
    – a brighter, larger EVF and OVF
    – a higher flash sync speed

The organic sensor would have been the icing on the cake. There may be an increase in resolution with a 24 mp X-Trans sensor, but I doubt it will increase the dynamic range, which I was hoping for.

If it is just an X-Trans sensor, they better give us the ability to convert the files to TIFF in-camera or a bare-bones converter produced by Fuji (same as the in-camera converter), as the in-camera converter still produces the best results. I tried the new presets in Iridient, and the results are no where near as good as those from the in-camera converter.

Unfortunately, Fuji seems to be neglecting the remaining issue, which is poor raw conversion support, as none of the external raw converters are as good as the in-camera converter. When I e-mailed them about providing in-camera TIFFs, they replied to me saying they have already provided many other improvements via firmware updates (which they have) and they can’t address all issues. So, based on that, i don’t believe Fuji cares about getting the most out of the X-trans sensor, as the only really good converter (the in-camera converter) is limited to saving as lossy jpegs.

    1. There’s never gonna be a third party RAW converter that’s as good as the in-camera JPEG. Why? Because what camera does is not just a conversion, it’s much more. The camera is content aware, it knows faces (even X100 does), it recognizes skin tones in context. And it does [censored by Fuji Ninjas] to them. There’s no third party content aware RAW converter on the market, so… we can tweak color response curves all day long, but we can only get so much close to the in-camera results.

      1. That is why I hope they give us the ability to convert the files to TIFF in-camera. It wouldn’t be difficult for Fuji to do, and it would resolve the raw conversion issues entirely.

    2. “There may be an increase in resolution with a 24 mp X-Trans sensor, but I doubt it will increase the dynamic range, which I was hoping for.”

Frankly, if Fuji is able to up the megapixels to 24, while still retaining the same dynamic range and low light performance of the current sensor — or even slightly improving them (say by a half stop) — that alone will denote a significant improvement.

      1. They also need to clarify their strategy on body design, to give clear specificity to each of their models. But yes, that would already justify a Pro2 (with faster shutter and flash sync)

      2. I don’t need an improvement in high-ISO performance, but I would like to see an improvement in dynamic range and resolution. Unfortunately, most sensors (bayer and X-Trans) rely on interpolation, so resolution and acuity will never be great; and, the Fovean sensors, which have exceptional resolution, are subject to very poor high-ISO performance.

Until some company designs a sensor like the Fovean sensors, in which each pixel is RGB, but with excellent high-ISO performance, digital cameras will be limited in image quality: subject to false details, artifacts, and below stated resolving power.

That said, my X-Pro 1 still takes beautiful pictures; and, we are all spoiled by the cameras we have today…

  4. Rumoured Medium Format camera apparently has a non organic sensor, now XPRO 2 may also be non organic. Bet ya they still have something special for Photokina!

    1. Well they said (can’t remember who, though) a few months ago the organic sensor won’t be available before 2015 (doesn’t always mean January), so I guess we might see a few cameras released without it… which is OK if the camera brings in itself enough innovation to justify the release: developing a whole new sensor must be a crazy task, especially if you have to release a perfect product

    1. Most rumors are unreliable. What I think would be great is if the admin here would put a scale of confidence on their rumors. I suspect a lot of the rumors here have 0-20% confidence.

      1. Thing is, you can hardly apply a probability to a rumor. If anything you can apply it to the sources. But to give them a reliable probability you need a couple of rumors from the same source.

        1. You can do it to both. If someone said the XPro2 was large format you wouldn’t need to worry about who sent it. You’d know it was wrong almost certainly.

NikonRumors used to be wild west in rumors, getting people’s hopes up, etc. Then he went to a % system for how reliable he felt the rumor was. The site’s credibility went up.

          1. “I’ve got this information from a new source. Take it with a grain of salt…”
That is enough for me. No need to post false probabilities. And you can post really anything with 0-20% confidence. πŸ˜‰
“New source” is way more accurate for me.

          2. in fact I have more than 5 different versions about how the X-PRO2 (or X-PRO1S) could be. All from new or anonymous sources. I could post them all with a low rating, or make a selection.

There are some things I did not share… and looking back, I’m happy I never did :-). The last one was the rumor that Canon is working together with Fuji. I’ve received the rumor and decided not to share it. The day after canonrumors posted it, and deleted it a few hours later (btw, it would be more honest to write a post to correct the rumor, at least I do it that way).

I’m a rumor site, and it’s clear that it’s in the nature of my site to be wrong sometimes. But I also have a pretty reliable reputation (check the rumor section), and want to keep the decent hit rate.

And let me say this: the number of persons trying to fool me is growing. I do not know why this happens. There must be some people out there who do not like FR or simply wanna have fun (or maybe want to confuse me). More then ever, I need support from guys who really know and decide to share rumors.

          3. As it was a new situation for me, I asked Andrea of SAR what is his experience with false rumors. He told me that yes, some just want to have fun, but there where cases where other (Sony) sites tried to fool him in order to discredit his blog. The last case might be this one: http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/sr5-rumor-roundup-and-warning-of-fakes-i-know-who-makes-them/

I’m not accusing anyone. I think that most of the false rumors come from people who just wanna have “fun”. I don’t know if all false rumors, but yes, most.

          4. I can respect that. And I didn’t mean to imply you’re not selective at all. More that I’d like to see it a bit more clearly how realistic you think some of the rumors are. As we say in this country, they don’t all pass the smell test.

And we all know that as a product gets closer to release that more leaks happen. Most of them I’d bet are purposely planned by the company’s marketing department. It wouldn’t be unusual and it has happened in many industries.

I’m not surprised that there are people trying to send false rumors in. Some are just trolls having a laugh and others may be competitors or disgruntled people.

      2. Really, you can’t even depend on what Fuji says, much less rumors. When you see something actually released, that is true. Though it may be months before you can actually get one in hand.

    2. the new source was wrong.

Keep in mind that sometimes sources tell me a correct launch date which is later on posticipated by Fujifilm. For example a trusted source confirmed that, at the time of sharing, the announcement date of the 10-24 rumored here on FR was correct. But Fuji decided to postpone the launch… and so it happens that a rumor that was correct at the time of sharing, became a wrong rumor.

So maybe the new source was in good faith by sharing the rumor it got from… well, I can’t tell. But it simply wasn’t the most updated one. Or maybe he was not well informed, or tried to fool me or whatever. I have no idea in this case.

That said, I stayed awake the whole night, refreshing Fujis website, but nothing happend. But I made wise use of the sleepless night and finished to cut the film I made with my students (all filmed with the X-E2). It was a challange… I mean, to film with the X-E2 ;-)… and also to go at work in the morning.)

If I get a new announcement date, well, I hope it will be correct.

      1. For all your hard work, you should start your own Patreon page or something. I would contribute, that’s for sure.

        1. thanks. but it’s ok if you donate or, once the X-PRO2 is out, you purchase it through my site πŸ˜‰

  5. I thought Fuji said they would not do an XPro2 until they have a major image quality leap. Will this be that? It sounds more evolutionary than an “organic sensor” revolutionary , but I’d be happy with:

    * a major focus speed leap — legitimately become the fastest AF on any platform, including the best DSLR tracking focus for action

    * weather sealing

    * This might seem like blasphemy but I’d love a tilting touch screen

    * innovative UI. The Leica T interface has gotten raves and looks amazing. Personally, I’d still want actual buttons too, so I can adjust focus point and other parameters without leaving the VF, but for setting up the camera and tap focus/shutter in live view, it would be pretty sweet.

    * partner with Adobe to make ACR and Lightroom the best Raw converter for XTrans.

    * a bit more Rez

    * IQ improvements — it already is pretty great. I just hope more Rez doesn’t hurt low light, high ISO.

    * APS size compatibility with existing lenses.

This XPro2 would be a big improvement. Since they skipped a second generation XPro, this would be Fuji’s first third generation model (unless the X30 beats it to release, but not really comparable). I’m glad to see the “rangefiner form factor” continue. The XT-1 is the best looking DSLR style camera on the planet (Olympus, take note) but I much prefer a left side hybrid VF, which Olympus seems determined not to do.

Where does this all leave the rumored medium format camera? It seems like that would steal thunder from a new XPro and X100, and therefore, not come at Photokina. I’m glad the XPro2 will be APS and hope Fuji skips full frame and goes straight to medium format and magical organic. πŸ™‚ Hurry up Fuji! πŸ™‚

    1. Seems like the medium format camera and/or organic sensor won’t appear before 2015. Bummer

  6. As an X100S owner (celebrating her first anniversary next month), I’m unsure on how I feel about an X200 follow-up. I thought the X100S would be the “X200” that was rumored to come over a year ago. If the X200 brings true updates, I might sell off my X100S. Fujifilm hasn’t treated me well, there are many things in the firmware I’ve been waiting to have fixed, but it seems owners of the original X100 are getting more love and the V2.0 firmware almost makes that camera behave as well as an X100S. It does make me feel that I bought a “stop gap” product that was made to satisfy demands, when the true successor is only coming now. πŸ™

    1. Have you also heard the rumor that once the X200 is released all the X100s cameras will shut down and refuse to take photos?

    2. I think they are keeping a few upgrades for the X100s in the sleeves, like the updated refresh rate for the EVF, or the color choice for focus peak.
They probably wait a bit to test it fully and make sure they keep some activity going on.
As for the X200, if there is a clear IQ increase and a tilting screen, I will surely succumb… unless the X-E3 or X-Pro2 comes first with the above…

    3. X100s had a whole new sensor and X-trans CFA array, plus phase-detect autofocus, if not that, what would be a “true” update for you?
I’m afraid your consumer felings are perfectly nurtured by “model iterating updates” corporations like sony and for them. This is not the case with fujifilm, and if you don’t like that people with x100 still get updates for their cameras, shortening the gap between their camera and yours, you would be better off with a sony-type corporation.

    1. Fuji’s own home grown myth. I’ve been reading about this “organic” sensor being under development for EIGHT years. What a joke Fujifilm has become.

  7. I think the rumoured X-Pro 2 with 24MP “X-Trans 3” (based on SOny a6000 sensor) is quite a reasonable upgrade: Much faster AF performance, higher resolution and maybe the same high ISO performance as the old cameras. Upgraded hybrid viewfinder with high resolution and bright, and all the bells and whistles of X-E2 and X-T1.
Yes Fuji said only when a big step in IQ would be possible, maybe this is quite a visible one. My feeling is that the organic sensor (if we ever will see it) is still 1-2 years away. I feel an itch to buy the X-T1, but it is a bit expensive for what it is, and the prospect of the X-Pro1 lets me wait at least until rumours get more reliable, maybe 2 months or so, then I decide.

      1. Srsly? the hybrid viewfinder, minimalist interface/grip, leaf shutter (X100/s), non-proprietary connection hardware, etc., and so on, don’t count, do they?

I for one would be very happy without X Trans.

        1. The X Trans sensor is a joke, a gimmick for those who are easily led; the Sheeple. Fujifilm will always be relegated to 8th place in market share as long as they stick with this solution in search of a problem.

          1. While I don’t like X trans much at all, I would hesitate to equate market dominance with ‘good’, or desirable. Market dominance in the camera industry leads companies to produce crap just to remain on the top. Even Fujifilm, in its 8th place, produces crap with the X label just to sell more stuff.

Focus, the ability to say ‘no’, and a WHO, not WHAT, as your target sale, is important. I don’t think any Japanese camera manufacturer cares about WHO they sell to, just so long as their stuff sells.

If they could properly target, interact, and rear their customer, they will have no problem with market. But being number one, or number three: necessarily means lack of focus.

          2. Looks like Cannon is now hiring people to surf social media and attack other brands. Ratty is spending a lot of time on a site that he obviously does not identify with. Wonder why.

          3. I don’t believe in conspiracies. I know that camera fanboism is nasty business. HiFi fanboiism is bad, but this is bad stuff. I’m one of the X fans that gets a new one teared pretty often. I take it in stride.

Why? Because the weaknesses of the X need to be addressed. Too many people just take issues with grace when they should be less partisan and more vocal.

I can’t speak for Ratty. But I can say that I’m glad when there are vocal dissidents within the community that supports a certain system. Their voices need to be heard.

          4. Well…. you can call it a gimmick if you like, but if the Sheeple are following the crowd, why are they following Fujifilm?

          5. Fujifilm has 2% market share. Some following.

Canon sells 6 million SLR’s per year. Fujifilm not even 1 million X cameras in FOUR years. Come on.

          6. That was my point…. how can you call anyone who has bought an X camera “Sheeple”? There isn’t a crowd to follow.

          7. No, I am talking about the pathetic Fujfilm cretinous fan boys. They are, by far, the very worst.

          8. Wait… the same ones that make up those sheeple following the bulk of the market share? I thought you said that Fujifilm wasn’t popular. Or do you mean the same ones that go looking to troll other manufacturers forum sites by slagging off anyone who may have purchased their equipment by calling them sheeple?

          9. When you have a ratty brain of of only the size of a mouse business arguments are pretty hard to make. People that troll just to annoy other people and can just be happy with their stuff and their decisions certainly have serious mental issues. We can all just hope he gets treatment.

          10. People who are as agressive as you are, generally have problems. Whereas it is so easy: buy the camera that you like and forget about Fuji, Rattymouse. This is not helpful for anyone.
Fuji has started their x- line 3 years ago, they started from zero and already have a better and more respected lens line for APS sensors as most, if not all other manufacturers. Wait another 2-3 years, and Canon/ Nikon who still have nothing convincing in the mirrorless department will be in deep trouble. The classic DSLR paradigma is on it’s way out, and they already can feel it, economically.

          11. And just bythe way – I have never been impressed by sheer size (of a company), they generally tend to arrogant corporal behaviour.. The market (and us, the photographers) is better off with small, but creative manufacturers, like Fuji and a few more. I haven’ seen anything exciting from CaNikon for more than 5 years now.

        2. Fair enough on the hybrid viewfinder (everyone else keeps talking about it but not doing anything), but if you can get the leaf shutter to work on your X-Pro, I’ll be impressed. When you’ve got market share like Canon though, non-proprietary isn’t a problem because you define standards. I tried to buy an emergency charger for the Fuji XE-1 battery while travelling. The store had around 60 generic brand chargers for all shapes and sizes, none of which would help out my XE-1.

    1. Fuji is doing XTrans and customers a disservice by not making it easier for Lightroom and Aperture to better process the raw files. It sounds like a lot of quality is left on the table. Users of the most popular applications should not have to change tools and workflow to get the most out of XTrans.

      1. Lightroom and Aperture do a pretty average job at RAW conversion. I always used Canon’s DPP to process the RAW, Lightroom/Aperture is for convenience, they do an AVG job at RAW processing compared to Canon/Nikon’s own RAW programs. What Fuji needs is their OWN RAW software.

PS: I use Lightroom for file organization, then select “sample” shots to show to bride/groom, once they make the final selections I use DPP always which makes the image quality so much better.

    1. Yeah, without an LCD screen, no AF, no flash shoe, and no USB card slot, internal 60GB only, for the real purists. We could also discuss all external markings on the body. Maybe that’s sarcasm, I am not sure either.

      1. There is a huge diference in detail between sensors with CFA and without. So no, this is not for purists only, don’t worry). Just some people still consider BW photography.

        1. Yes, that is true. That is because it requires no interpolation. Bayer and X-trans (Bayer-like) sensors do not capture as much detail because each pixel is only red, green, or blue, which means it is creating the image based in part on estimates. That is the same reason why the DP Merrills have better pixel-level image quality than the D800E (at base ISO): the Fovean sensor requires no interpolation, as each pixel is RGB. The image quality from those cameras is comparable because the D800E has over double the number of pixels as the DP Merrills.

If the X-Pro 2 turns out to be great (more resolution, greater dynamic range, 1/8000th of a second shutter speed, a much brighter/larger EVF/OVF, ISO 100 as base ISO, higher flash sync speed, along with all the improvements in the X-T1) and I get one, which I am planning on doing, I may have some expert convert my X-Pro 1 to monochrome.

However, I was wondering if converting the raw files after converting the X-Pro 1 to monochrome would be an issue, as the raw converters would perhaps convert the files using an algorithm based on the X-Pro 1’s CFA, which it would no longer have?

          1. Regular Raw converters for sure will try to interpolate converted monochrome sensor data. There are some sources in astrophotography forums, where you can get info on how to process RAWs from converted monochrome sensors. I’m thinking of converting x-e1. I haven’t tried it myself yet, still gathering info. I think DCraw run under linux has the ability to export image data from RAW without interpolation.

      2. Yes, great ideas actually! Take away the LCD and associated buttons, make the Autofocus “just work” (like Apple), keep the SD Slot and flash shoe, add WIFI so that you can review shots on your phone.

With 50mm lens, or perhaps 40mm, they need to be higher quality to take advantage of the increased resolution.

  8. Told myself earlier this year that if I don’t see a price drop on any fuji x100s, I’m holding off all camera purchases till photokina comes around.

  9. Dear Fuji,

Concerning the coming X-Pro2, I would suggest to add the same controls of the X-T1. This external controls are excellent.
Could you also put phase detection all over the sensor like the sony a6000 and increase the AF speed.
Just leave out the optical viewfinder but please, put at least the same EVF as the X-T1.
Add also definitely a tilting touchscreen.
Concerning the face detection, you could improve this feature not only by being able to focus precisely on the eye, but also keep the track of the head even if the subject is turning its head. One it is lock, it should stay lock whatever position, in front, side or BACK.
Last but not least, could you also add an electronic shutter mode Γ  la Panasonic GX7 to be able to have completely silent shutter if we want.
    Thank you!!

      1. Disable it, 20$ on a 1500$ cam is fine and the cam would also attract other users. That is good in the long term. Actually, Fuji’s Q menu would be awesome with touch controls.

      2. What is the problem with a touch screen? I am assuming that you have a smartish phone. Would you prefer that without a touch screen? The problem with touch screens on cameras is that they just haven’t been implemented right.

I would personally get rid of all the buttons on the back and have one large screen. as you bring your eye to the viewfinder the sensor could disengage any menus and just have 2 or 4 touch pads to make whatever adjustments you set to those pads.

    1. wait… you don’t want the OVF? isn’t that what the XE-2 line is for? The ONLY reason I want the XPro line is BECAUSE of the OVF, which means I don’t want anything else. No touchscreen focus, no tilting screen, nothing! Just pure joy of looking through the HYBRID VF

you want Tilting LCD? get an XT-1
you don’t want OVF? get an XT-1/XE-2

      don’t mess with the XPRO!!

      1. Well, at the time of the x-pro1, the EVF was laggy, justifying an OVF. Now, with the Technology of the X-T1, an OVF is on longer needed, espacially that the image fro the OVF does not correspond a 100% to the actual pictural taken.
We need just the quality of the X-T1 EVF on the left corner as it is the best ergonomical position.

        1. Coming from a rangefinder shooter, I don’t mind the not 100% actual, you can always crop later, and even with DSLR wedding shots, majority of time I’m shooting wider to crop later. Better to crop something I have than regret something I miss.

The benefit of a rangefinder “frameline” is for the candid street/casual people mingling shooting. You can see MORE than the actual frame which is actually a benefit because you can see something BEYOND the shot so you can catch things that you wouldn’t in SLR and move your frame. (I actually shoot with both eyes open when shooting with SLR so I can see beyond the frame)

rangefinder and SLR are for different purposes. I think MANY of the XPRO shooters get the XPRO because of the rangefinder-like OVF. No matter how good the EVF is, I’m most likely not going to get one. The only camera that interests “me” is the XPRO because of the OVF, if they go EVF only then Fuji will lose a LOT of people who think like me.

Thus, the Hybrid will stay on XPRO, those who don’t need OVF will get the XE2 or XT1.

  10. Starting a new camera system and lens line up from scratch, offering superb build quality, innovating with sensor tech, evolving a photographer focused system as apposed to adding loads of features that few would use, and also acting on customer feed back. All of this during the worst recession since the 30’s.
I shot Nikon for years and nearly went full frame because they wouldn’t develop a range of quality APSC primes, but I didn’t want a bulkier system. Enter Fuji, all most all wishes granted and I feel that I am part of an evolving customer focused and innovative system. I enjoyed my Nikon days but was always left a little underwhelmed, so am I a Fuji Fan Boy; You better believe it!

  11. Please no ISO button on top of the X-Pro2 like the X-T1, because ISO changing via the Fn button is much faster.

  12. x200 must be full frame- that will lead fuji to amazing success.. Current lens line will continue, and people won’t cry anymore for ff, but most of fuji users will surely pay for x200

      1. That’s a cute website talking about the dangers of product drift. But it says nothing about when a company should offer new features or a new product. Every one of the reasons listed in that website are bad reasons in some circumstances, but good reasons in other circumstances. For example, recognizing the latent demand for an unsupplied product is what led to the creation of the original X100 itself. Perhaps the fact that lots of people want a FF X200 isn’t a good reason to offer one… but perhaps it is. I’m sure no one at Fuji takes the comments on this forum as business Gospel. The purpose of the comments section is for folks to share their thoughts. I, for one, already replaced my X100 with an X100S, and I would definitely consider replacing the X100S with an X200, particularly if FF.

        1. I think the key part of that issue (latent demand) is when the article said that hunches, guesses, anecdotes, etc. are not good substitutes for actual research and hard work. The problem with the whole FF “debate” here is that it’s all argument by anecdote and hunches. There’s no credible research behind any of it.

          1. Maybe so. But it’s asking a bit much of a rumors website comments section to provide credible market research on latent demand for a niche camera product. We’re just consumers expressing an opinion. Whether or not Fuji’s analysis yields a FF, time will tell. But this is the place for people to be enthusiasts. The place for clear-headed cold-blooded market research is in some Fuji office somewhere.

          2. Lol, I guess it’s fun for all the Monday-morning quarterbacks here who think they’re better project managers than the ones Fuji has.

    1. of course everybody WANTS a FF *insert whatever brand, camera model*. The problem has always been, that once it comes out at $2000+ not many are WILLING to pay for it.

Supply/Demand comes into major play here. Microeconomics, etc.

  13. Ok, I’ll bite- I’m hoping for much faster/reliable focus tracking like I get on my Canon 1D. I can’t replace my 1D with a Fuji until the continuous focus/focus tracking works a lot better and can’t overstate that for my kind of shooting style. I can live with 16Mpix (20 would be even better) but shoot in low light so give me another stop of two of high ISO performance at 16Mpix. No crazy 30Mpix sensor please. A FF X200 would be pretty sweet if it weren’t much larger and it had low pixel density so the ISO performance was class leading.

    1. love the XE1 if FF is a necessary path, FUJI need to be strategic not constantly be playing catch up in pixel race – personally i think they have been thinking out of the box and people have taken notice,
      good on the engineers
this sensor is ok for 95% of the market and if they can draw 25% increase performance in years to come from this size well everyone 5yrs from now will say wish i had my old XE1 again πŸ™‚
