X100 super-firmware available tomorrow! + one new X-E2 pic!

 photo XPCleer_zpse87823f9.jpg

I already told it yesterday to you, but now I’ve received confirmation from 2 new sources: the X100 firmware will come tomorrow. The long expected improvements could be available for download the same day of the X-E2 / XQ1 launch. I said that this time I don’t believe it until I see it the download link on Fuji’s global page, but now I’m pretty confident that it will happen! Tomorrow it’s Kaizen day ;).

Spread the word via google+, facebook and twitter. Here is one more new X-E2 image via Digicameinfo:

cheers
Patrick

    1. Good question! I’m still waiting for the AF on x100s to be actually significantly faster than the x100, as advertised by Fuji when I bought this camera…

    1. I really hope fuji will do so and won’t forget us. I own x-e1 for 3 months and hope fuji is not considering my body as old..
min shutters speed cause serious discomfort to me..

      1. I used to want this feature more than I want it now. While I still think it’s important and will help auto shutter-speed pictures come out better in all kinds of situations, I’ve grown accustomed to being conscious about what I want or need. If I’m at my kids soccer game I use 500 or 1000, if I’m in a room with people moving and I don’t want blur I use 50 or 60. If I take a picture of a waterfall I’ll use 15 or 8 (or 10″ if I have time to set up my tripod and 10-stop ND…).
What I’m saying is that I’d like to have that feature and at the same time not having it has made me a more conscious (better?) photographer.

    2. +1

I have been waiting impatiently for minimum shutter speed in auto ISO as well. It is actually shocking that they have ignored this necessary improvement. I am starting to think they are holding back to consider that an improvement for future cameras, including the X-E2.

  1. Seemingly, the X-Pro and X-E cameras are order with the 18-55mm kit lens. Most must reason, “…it’s only $400, or $300, or even $200 more to get the lens. I’ll use it…sometime.” But then you look out on E-Bay and find 85 of them being offered for sale. Hmm….

Do most discover that the lens just sits in their bag or is left at home unused? And if that’s the case, it really doesn’t make sense to pay for something that’s just going to sit. No? Just by the back and the lens(ses) you know you’re sure to use.

I’ll likely purchase the X-E2 and 23mm to learn the Fuji X system…a X100s on steroids. I plan to add an RRS L-plate for tripod landscape. I have the RRS system on my Canon equipment and love it. The L-plate should add some vertical depth to the X-E2 to better accommodate the bulk of the 23mm.

Does anyone share my thinking regarding the 18-55mm? How often do you really use it?

    1. I guess that you have to think about what you want/like/need. If you want very low DOF for example, then you will need primes. If you only want good optics and the 18-55 includes focal lenghts you like, why not buy the kit. The OIS is a nice feature when you want high DOF and shoot in low light, and for me the X-E1 + 18-55 is a light and versatile combo. Currently I do not miss XF primes and use the 18-55 as the only lens for the X-E1. You never know what I might want later though. 😉

      1. I sold my 18-55mm just for the reason you listed: never really used it.
Currently the XF14, XF35 and an adapted 50mm Super Takumar f1.4 are good enough for me and do not make me miss the XF zoom at all.

  2. This firmware upgrade is great news for my X100. Just another reason not to upgrade to the X100s. I can instead wait for the X200 FF next year. With an updated X100, X-E1, and eventually an X200, my Fui stable is complete.

  3. Finally downloaded – that took ages! Focus peaking works well, being able to focus closer without going into macro mode is great. Auto ISO and minimum shutter speed is there!
