Today Samyang announced the new 135mm f/2.0 lens. There is also a Cine version with T/2.2 aperture. The lens comes in X-mount version too and price is yet not official. Specs and images can be seen here:

880g…
We need more lenses built FOR mirrorless, like Samyang 12mm which is great on my X-E2
‘Built FOR mirrorless’ only helps with size and weight on the wide end, that’s why the Samyang 12mm or 8mm fisheye are so tiny. As soon as you get into tele FL, meaning 60mm+ you loose that advantage. Here the maximum aperture and FL dictate the size, not the sensor or the sensor-to-mount distance.
Just look at Fuji’s 55-200 or 50-140 which are not much smaller than their FF-DSLR-counterparts. That’s also the reason why APS-C telezooms are few and far between in general. The only way you gain smallness and lightness from tele lenses is the crop factor, which gives smaller FLs tighter FOVs.
A 200mm field-of-view in FF terms and F2.0 sounds good – it can actually replace my old Pentacon 135mm F2.8, which is good, but terribly soft at F2.8. We all know Samyang delivers excellent optics (especially for their typical good prices). What can I add? We expect more lenses from Samyang. Maybe this move will encourage others, like Sigma and Tamron, to build AF lenses for Fujifilm. In a certain way, mirrorless is the future (at least a great part of it), so everybody should take notice of that.
While it’s really easy to manual focus with a wide angle, it’ll be more difficult with this kind of lens. I hope a IBIS-like in the near future (I vomit each time I use my manual 105mm macro handheld with X-E1 EVF).
I’m thinking about getting this lens in Nikon mount to use it with my Lens Turbo II adapter, since its kind of heavy and because of the small DOF in manual focus, the use of tripod would be preferred anyway…
i’d like to see what adapter they’re going to weld onto this. the 85mm looked great until you actually saw one with the nikon adapter welded to it. it went from a fairly compact lens to a beast and that extra weight didn’t help it win any friends. even the box the lens came in didn’t show it as it is, it only showed the lens as if you had bough the canon version. i shall stick with my konica ar 135 f3.2 for the time being.
Do we really need that? It’s kind of offensive.
