 X-T1 IR: AmazonUS / BHphoto / Adorama

It’s time to give a final answer to those asking me news via email about the Fujifilm X-T1 IR… and the final answer is: I have actually no clue what’s happening with the X-T1 IR.

The camera was announced on August 3 and supposed to be available for the American market (and only for the American market) in October. That’s at least what FujifilmUS told us at its launch. But since then, we have seen several delays, and now AmazonUS says it will be available on December 30.

So, the camera is still not available, but Adobe just announced, that Lightroom CC 2015.3 / 6.3 + Camera RAW 9.3 now support the X-T1IR.

And since we are talking of how Fuji can marvellously mess up the shipping of its products, if there is anyone out there, who can tell me, why the HS-V5 software is available in Europe since months, but still (!!!) impossible to find in North America, please let me know.

At least, the shipping of the XF35mmF2 ad 1.4x TC seem to proceed smoothly.

Let’s see how Fujifilm will manage the shipping of the X-Pro2.

  1. Just wish Adobe would focus on the current x-trans raw. I am glad to see Adobe is working a future camera release. However over 6 months ago Adobe made a statement in regards to working closer with Fuji to create a better overall raw conversion for the Fuji X-trans raw. The current ACR, LR conversion still is not there, as the finer details tend to be masked. It’s also still possible to get a painterly look to the raw conversion. Now with 24MP coming, I am very exited about the future of the X-Trans chip, but Adobe needs to step up on the raw conversions. The only software I find that really pulls out the details is iridient, but it doesn’t fit my workflow.

    1. I pair Adobe LR with the ACDSee Ultimate 9 version. The flow is similiar to LR for me when working with portraiture. And they are committed to support the X-Trans RAW. It also has a de-haze tool with local application. Check out the trial version.

        1. hahahah de nada. Nah Noah, I’m an FAA employee actually, a techie :). I was actually researching another site for a LR alternative/backup, when I discovered it and this other plugin called “Imagenomic portraiture” also. cool stuff

  2. Perhaps they realized that they maybe should make an appropriate lens to go with the camera before they released it? Tough to find a used Coastal Optics 60mm or UV-Nikkor… Of course you can compromise by stripping the coatings off a junk lens, but why bother?
