Pre-orders: X-M1, XC 16-50 and XF 27mm

Smaller (X20 alike), cheaper, WiFi, better and tiltable LCD screen and a faster processor (EXR Processor II of the X100S). If all this is enough for you to justify the missing viewfinder, then here is where you can buy the brand new X-M1!

  1. I bet this camera will sell like hot cakes. Some here complain about the price but I don’t think they are not thinking that much. This is a very small camera, with a really good sensor and a very nice lens system with what seems to be excellent photographer ergonomics.

That’s not that easy. Real street price will be $50-$100 cheaper soon. I guess some people just want something good for nothing.

  2. if processor is supposedly faster, how come imaging-resource.com site says the AF on XM1 will be slower than on XE1?

  3. I think Fuji is being a bit cheeky on the pricing, especially the 27mm.

The brown M1 with a silver 27 is a very nice looking camera, however at over 1000 that’s plain crazy. When the price falls below 500 for that kit I will be a customer. That combo looks really nice.

    1. Tim, the combo is priced at $799, which I find quite reasonable compared to, let’s say, the Leica Vario.

      1. This camera is competing against Canon EOS M1 (or whatever) so 800 is too much. Does not matter, 6 months from now the price will have fallen quite a bit.

Still, brown with the 27, looks great, costs around the same as x100s. x100s has faster lens, EVF, OVF, faster processor, phase detect, aperture dial … and so on. Therefore I conclude crazy price 🙂

That brown with the 27 looks really nice. Just have to wait a little on that one.

        1. Yeah, the Canon EOS-M with 22mm pancake is selling for €630 in DE. Same from Fuji is I guess 1100.

Yes, the Fuji at least looks better … but you can see the problem.

  4. The price is abit disappointing. But i cant help but to think fuji knows how well x pro and xe were received, so they dont mind pushing the xm1 price higher and use it as stepping stone to bump up xpro 2 and xe2 prices when they release it in the near future

  5. The LUMIX 20mm 1.7 was such a god lens that I was seriously considering the XF 27MM as a pockatable (just) opertunity to use a second xpro or xe as an alternative to x100s. With the option of using the second body (with an other alterntive brace of XF lens when required.) No Aperture ring was the first indication that this is a cheaper lens, the second is a lack of Made in Japan visable in any of the picturers, its usually a angle the show. Some may not think it makes a difference, but all the manufacturers make a song and dance about it in their premium ranges. (Hope I’m wrong and it is MIJ).

  6. BFD, really. The X-M1 seems like nothing more than a Sony NEX6 minus EVF. Pricing is off, way off. Plasticky XC(“C” for “cheap?”)zoom seems another Sony copycat. Looks like Fujifilm’s camera division has two brains: one manages the X-Pro1 and X-E1 lines; the other handles the schlock p&s and X-M1. Fuji’s about to find out how tough the mid-range MILC market is. They’re also going up against Canon/Nikon low-end DSLR packages whose typical buyers shop by price, not features.

  7. I think this is a positive release. The XM1 absolutely crushes the EOS M. EOS M is the red headed step child of Canon. Poorly thought out, late to the game, limited lenses (unless you use EF lenses).

The XM1 has a place in the Fuji line up: compatible with a solid lineup of lenses, nice and compact, excellent image quality. I do wonder if this will cannibalize the X20 market among serious photographers.

Unfortunately, Fuji has created an insatiable beast with the firmware updates. I am ecstatic about focus peaking. Yes there are other updates we would all like to see, but have you ever bought a camera that has improved over time? I haven’t and I am thrilled that they continue to offer support for their products.

Now we need Fuji to get their focus back on the 23mm and 56mm lenses!

    1. At the current pricing, yes. But of-course the next XP/E will not be at the current pricing, and the next x100s may be FF.

I feel sorry for everyone involved; Fuji trying to set prices that make sense over some many overlapping products, retailers trying to sell at prices that don’t always make sense, and customers who can’t make sense of any of it … with a road map that ends next year!
