Zhongyi Optics Announces Pricing & Availability of Two New Lenses for Mirrorless Cameras
New 42.5mm f/1.2 & 24mm f/1.7 with Sony E / M43 / Fuji X mounts available in Photokina
Shenyang China, Sept 14, 2014 – Shenyang Zhongyi Optics (ZY Optics), a leading Chinese manufacturer of camera lenses, has unveiled two fast prime lenses for mirrorless camera users. The new Zhongyi Mitakon 42.5mm f/1.2 Lens features an incredibly fast aperture of f/1.2, making it ideally suited for low-light conditions shooting, greater control over selective focus and shallow depth of field imagery. Designed for the use with an APS-C-sized camera sensor, the lens gives a 35mm-equivalent focal length of nearly 64mm. Above features provide an excellent portrait shooting solution for mirrorless cameras users. The lens also houses with 7 elements in 9 groups of optical lenses to provide great deal of image clarity and color renderness. The new Zhongyi Mitakon 24mm f/1.7 Lens is a fast prime wide-angle lens that provides a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 35mm, making it ideally suited for everyday shooting applications. The fast f/1.7 maximum aperture benefits working in low-light conditions and also avails greater control over the focus position for shallow depth of field and selective focus techniques. The 0.15m ultra close minimum focus distance benefit users in image composition. The lens incorporates 9 elements in 8 groups with ED lenses in order to minimize chromatic aberrations for greater clarity and color accuracy. The compact size (55mm x 61.5mm) and light-weight (246g) of the lens also make it perfect for mirrorless camera users. Both of above lenses comes with Sony E, Micro four thirds and Fuji X mounts. Pricing and Availability Zhongyi Mitakon 42.5mm f/1.2 & Zhongyi Mitakon 24mm f/1.7 will be available in this winter at ZY optics authorized resellers and at the new official website (http://www.zyoptics.net/). Pre-order will start in the end of Sept in our official website. The recommended retail price of 42.5mm f/1.2 will be at USD 359 and 24mm f/1.7 will be at USD 289. If sigma picks up the x mount, then that means lens manufacturers have faith in the x mount. Right now, sigma does not.
Their 30 mm would go good on the xmount.
They can’t. Well they would have to be manual focus as I believe due to the firmware only current lenses work
I’m sure they could do a deal with Fuji like Zeiss to make fully compatible lenses. Hopefully they would develop lenses for mirror less, rather then dslr lenses.
thank god Sigma don’t do lenses for the X mount, we want quality lenses not Sigma!
Are you saying that other manufacturers stop producing lenses as soon as Sigma enters the market?
And who is “we”?
There are about a half dozen sigma lenses I’d have over Fuji, Nikon, or Canon alternatives. Would welcome sigma wholeheartedly.

Russell. Not sure what you are talking about but Sigma’s art series lenses are superb. They rival Canon L glass.
The Sigma 35mm 1.4 art is the best 35mm I ever used
they better L glass. by a proverbial mile.
9 diaphragm blades! Fuji take notice!
The other one has 12 blades!
You can use (for example) 7 blades to obtain beautiful bokeh or smooth blurry background. What matters is the shape of blade. (Straight, round, etc)
Don’t read too much into Mitakon’s plunge into X-mount. These are utterly manual, electronics-free generic lenses. It can’t take much of an investment for Mitakon to program its production line to turn out the rear tubes and mounts needed to adapt them to Fuji bodies.
Does it transfer the info (f-stop etc.) to the camera by the electronic contacts ?
I used the Sigma 30mm on Canon 60d, and it was pretty solid actually. Focus was not up to Canon but everything else, including price, was cool. It would be a nice option for the Fuji X. The Art series is superb as far as I know so…

For the prize I imagine these are manual lenses (no electronics compatible with Fuji X mount)… strange that that is not specified on the article, considering these are a new brand that is supporting Fuji. We know how Samyang/Rokinon, Zeiss, etc work on Fuji X cameras… but Mitakon? I never heard it before and have no idea. Not too informative post in that regards (which is a pretty important one)

No worries 🙂 EXIF will definitely be very light on for information. Have to say as Trenton points out above, these prime lenses have “zoom method rotary” so it doesn’t quite all add up.

Consider getting vintage minolta lenses instead.They produce creamy bokeh and Sharp images for small Budget….
i have the minolta 55 1.7 on my x-t1.. it’s fun to play with 🙂
i want the minolta 50mm 1.4 but i dont know if its Worth it when i have this lens
I tried every Minolta lens on the X-system so far.
50mm 1.4 is much sharper , also the 58mm 1.2 (but more expensive).
And one of my favorite lens: 35mm 2.8. This lens is on par with fuji´s 35mm, really..i tested them side by side. Except 1.4, which is Fuji´s advantage in low light,
was it noticeable sharper than 55 1.7? the 50 1.4?
Well…i would say no. But this also depends on the version you get and we are talking about manual lenses, so sometimes it s not the lens, more the accuracy of ones own focusing.
But with the colored focus peaking you can make them work .
Excuse me guys, but could you tell me if it is difficult to find adapters for such lenses? I have a few Olympus Zuiko for Om mount, but when I found an adapter for the X system, it seemed really big and strange in the camera body. Thanks.

Looks like lens that are tuned for the photographers at very reasonable prices.
They also seem to sell (and have in stock) a 35 mm f0.95 for Fuji.
Has anyone tried this lens?
