Given the frequency and duration of these sales, I think it is more accurate to say that the sale price reflects the actual street price, and the non-sale price is a temporary price spike.
The non-sale price is the early adopter ripp off price 😀
These are vendors that warehouse & stock items in huge quantities. They have the liberty and must move inventory from its warehouse. Internet marketing. We are buying from the warehouse directly, Walk into brick and mortar (BH Nyc store) and not even see the item you see on the internet or at a different price sometimes. Many vendors will sometimes say “thats the internet only price”.
True, it’s best to wait. The newest tech (bodies, lenses) it’s best to buy after a while, when discounts arrive with the real normal prices.
I would not say ripp-off; when you are an early adopter you know the risks and pay the price for what you feel is the privilege; Besides the “more money than brains” syndrome, there may be some good and sound reasons (competitive advantage, real need – project waiting on new gear … ). That’s true for any kind of high tech gear
That’s probably an accurate assessment. Here in UK there have been a number of good cashback deals (e.g. £300 CB on 2 selected lenses, etc.) that have effectively pushed the Fuji system, and encouraged new owners to start building a system. Effective marketing.
Man, I’d love to get one or two lenses. Just don’t need them yet. So I’ll hold fast on the 35mm.
I always wait for these deals before buying a new lens. Now I will wait until the 50-140mm is $250 cheaper to get mine!
I need those prices for 56mm in France 🙁
Why don’t you order in Germany: http://www.top-foto.de/item.php?id=FUJAF5612XF
Good idea 🙂
Problem : “For this item a 150,00 € cashback-actie* is valid from 16.09.2014 until 31.12.2014. The price shown is after deduction of the 150,00 € cashback.”
I’m afraid this cashback won’t work anymore ?
According to Foto Sauter, cashback has been extended until end of December: http://www.foto-video-sauter.de/SimplePages/view/Fujifim-Cashback
amazon.de still offers 150€ CB for the XF 56.
It was extended until the end of January. It will show the correct dates if you click on the Fuji-green button.
