Except for the macro part, I’ve found results of this lens extremely crap !
I think you get bored with this lens pretty quickly.
Better buy a Jupiter-9 and a close-up filter to enjoy true nostalgia and dreamy bokeh. Use the rest of the money you save to take the GF out for dinner.
Where is the “Meh” button?
Another DSLR lens.
A friend of mine had this lens so I had the chance to try it out. The focus is slow and hard to get. Everything is soft until about 5.6. Oh and it’s really really heavy.
Looks quite a bit like the old Nikkor 55mm Micro which I own.
Yes, it’s a “meh” lens. It means that Fuji lens ecosystem is mature enough, so it’s a good news after all.
Now, where’s my 300/2.8 and 600/4?…
Probably after they’ve proven the X-Pro2 (and who knows by then X-T2) can focus blazing fast with the 100-400mm. ^.^
* compared to other hybrid viewfinder cameras )
Compared to anything really, doesn’t have to be the best, just good enough to deserve to be labeled as blazing and fast, rather than questionable, lacking, unreliable etc. Something that anyone looking for a 300 or 600mm prime in the first place can trust enough in for Fuji to trust them buying any of them big investments, otherwise, why would they bother .. i mean. ^.^
