Yesterday a trusted source told us, we should get ready for a new lens coming on May 18th (along with the X-T10). Well, it seems that it could be the XF90mmF2 lens.
In fact, the Austrian store foto-koeberl-graz has the XF90mmF2 lens listed on their website. No Price, no specs… just an expected availabilty: July 31!
Seems like we will have a nice Double Announcement on May 18th!

Any news about the new flash?
No update. Should come in Spring. But part of the rumor was that it is made by Metz… and that makes me worry a bit.
Well, yeah. The EU Fuji site has had the 90mm listed for quite a while now. I wasn’t aware there was actually any doubt about when it is being released.
do they mention also announcement or release date?
From Fuji’s European website
From Fuji’s European website.
Fuji Should now update the image: not just a generic “expected 2015” but “expected Announcement May 18, 2015 and in stock in July”
It was changed from the general roadmap image to ‘coming soon’ about two weeks ago, and for every other lens they’ve done that ~2 months before the lens actually gets released, which places the 90mm at early/mid July. So that all lines up as expected.
Guess I am heading for Austria 😛
But July 31 seems really late! (how long did it take for the 16mm to get from announcement to shipping?)
It would have been better to have a release in January/feb time, then you could justify the trip with a ski tour.
Dissapointed, hoped for some 400 mm stuff.
Why disappointed? The roadmap made it clear that won’t come until next year.
because you can’t get any rumor w/o at least someone being disappointed. Today it’s Kengu G who is on the “disappointed” duty tour.
so definitely no stabilization in this lens?
would we need one?
There is the 50-140 for that.
completely different beast.
And why would you need OIS desperately for that lens? The 50-140 has OIS and more focal lengths. The 90 f/2 is a portrait prime. Never needed OIS on an 85 or 135mm…
you never shot a 135mm equivalent lens and wished for IS? Seriously???? It is not desperately needed but some new 85s, like the new Zeiss 85 1.8 for Sony features image stabilization
Read more carefully. I’ve never needed OIS in portrait primes.
Wonder how this will compare to the Olympus 75mm? A very sharp lens, and quite small and light considering the IQ.
If you want your bokeh for less money than the 56 f/1.2, this may be the lens for you.
