For a very short time the entire press-release of the XF10-24 was online at photographymonthly. The bad news: I was at work so I wasn’t able to read it. All that remains are a few lines at the news-reader silobreaker.com. Anyway, a leaked press-release is a strong indicator of the fact that an official announcement is imminent!
I can’t tell you when exactly it will be announced… all I can say is that I’ll be there, ready to do some live blogging for you!
Follow Fujirumors on facebook and twitter and you won’t miss the announcement.
thanks to the FR-reader who send me the link to silobreaker.com!
stay tuned,

That’s cool. Hopefully, that means it’s coming sooner, rather than later.
We might see this by next Xmas. Still waiting for my xe2 and 18-55 here in oz pre ordered 3 days after release.
You are overly optimistic. I wouldn’t expect it before Easter 2019.
Rico, just wanted to say that your sarcasm is amongst the main reasons for visiting this site :). Keep it coming 🙂
Be careful what you wish for! 😉
Where did you preorder from? I got my xe2 first week out from a seller on ebay ‘E-Finity’, $1500 AUD with 55-200mm lens
From camerapro (oz stock) not their fault fuji has had trouble with the xe2 and 18-55 kit supply in Oz confirmed with other retailers. Very disappointed that I won’t have it for xmas, contemplating cancellation of order and buying a new canon lens instead.
Patrick, if you don’t know when it will be released, how do you know you will be there?
I told him the exact time when Fuji is going to officially post the press release, so he won’t have to stay up all night till X-mas.
Yes, I am that nice!
But I didn’t give him the press release.
Yes, I am that evil!
good question… the alarm clock will ring every hour this night(s)! So, I won’t really sleep until it’s out :).

This side is removed, too
Wow…if you guys know the release date, the real torture is going to be wondering what else you two know…
οἶδα οὐκ εἰδώς, oîda ouk eidōs.
Cool fonts Rico!
I think they know the official/formal press release date, not the actual lens release date.
And the press release date is not hard to guess: likely the first date of CES 2014 ? 🙂
Patrick,
Have you received any updates on the Fujica-style weather-sealed camera (and hopefully a lens)?
Thanks.
That’s exactly what I’m wondering too.
I don’t care if it’s the Fujica or the xpro 1s but it must be weather sealed and I need this 10-24 f4 to be sealed as well because I want to use it as my high IQ yet relatively light weight landscape and long exposure camera and for most other stuff my happy with my Olympus em1 for its speed, af and IQ.
I need fuji to give me a weather sealed body and a weather sealed UWA lens, a fast lag free evf, more improved af and I’d love to see in built body IS and I’m sold but I don’t see myself going further beyond my x-e1 and 18-55+35 if Fuji can’t cater for the needs of those who need a sealed and protected body a lenses.
Many years ago, when I was shooting Canon, my main “reception” lens when shooting events was a 16-35/2.8L. It was phenomenal, especially AF speed!
Then I switched to Nikon, and found that I don’t like Nikon’s 16-35 offerings at all. Especially the f/4 VR version.
Very curious to see what Fuji brings to the table.
It will be mine!
You and I I know that you know what you don’t know.
so exciting, if i go to tokyo for holiday, i will pick one up without waiting for review. which i normally do. i need a ultra wide.
Really looking forward to it. hope it worth the wait.
If it is as sharp as the 14mm, then I will get it. Otherwise, I will get the 14mm. Been waiting patiently, using my EF-S 10-22mm. However, it is time to replace it with either the 14mm or the 10-24mm. It will be hard to beat the 14mm, but I am still curious.
Sooo, really, what is the advantage of the XF10-24mm over the 14mm (apart from the obvious zoom range)?
ver·sa·tile
adj.
1. Capable of doing many things competently.
2. Having varied uses or serving many functions: “The most versatile of vegetables is the tomato” (Craig Claiborne).
3. Variable or inconstant; changeable: a versatile temperament.
4. (Biology) Capable of moving freely in all directions, as the antenna of an insect, the toe of an owl, or the loosely attached anther of a flower.
[Latin versatilis, from versatus, past participle of versare, to turn]
Yeah, I mean, let’s assume one already has an 18-55mm kit lens. Then you’re really getting an extra range of 10-18mm, and then one may as well go with the 14mm so as not to pay for the 18-24 part of the lens that you don’t necessarily need. Of course, 10mm is great for small rooms, large buildings, or majestic landscapes, I suppose.
When you’re shooting in the crowd, oftentimes you just can’t “zoom out by walking away”, so every millimeter in the zoom range matters.
Hem, I understand what you are asking, and hopefully, one of the members can answer your question. It will obviously be a little more versatile, but with what sacrifices (if any).
Perhaps sharpness and more distortion than the 14mm, as zooms are typically not as good as primes at any specific focal length. The 14mm is one of the highest-quality ultra-wide angle lenses, as it is very sharp with little distortion. That said, if the 10-24mm is optically nearly as good, or as good as, the 14mm, it will be more versatile with respect to focal lengths.
When I saw the headline I jumped off the couch! I can’t wait for this lens. I hope it’s as good as the 14mm. I’ve been waiting for this lens, and the plethora of tests/reviews before deciding, but I REALLY would love to own this puppy.
It’s been announced!!!

Well, there’s no mention of the lenses weight or of weather sealing whatsoever.
Here’s the fuji page I found –
http://m.dpreview.com/news/2013/12/18/fujifilm-announces-xf-10-24mm-f4-r-ois-wideangle-zoom
It seems to be listed as 410grams in weight so it’s not light but it’s not grossly obese either. I guess this means it must be of very high quality in terms of build and image quality. No mention of weather sealed.
or check out also this 😉 http://www.fujirumors.com/xf-10-24-announced-press-release-and-price/
