Fuji XF 56mm: [shopcountry 21554]
[UPDATE: the lens is not in stock. As FR-reader told me via email: “Tried to order Fuji 56mm from Adorama. They do not have them and the are supposed to correct their website.”]
The long expected XF 56mm is now in stock at Adorama here (with 4% reward).
And here is one more feedback from a German FR-reader (Luzu) who grabbed the discounted XF lenses in the USA:
Luzu: “Choose UPS for international delivery, their option “UPS Super Saver” for around 45$ is the cheapest anyways. If you “pay on delivery”, UPS will handle all the customs work for you and deliver the item home to you where you pay the customs costs directly to the mailman. No going to customs office needed! Declaration of the deliveries from B&H is made very professionally by them and UPS, so I guess German customs are seldom stopping them. I already ordered two lenses this way (the 27mm and the 55-200mm) without problems! Btw.: The delivery is by plane and super fast … around two days only!”

According to Adorama the lens is not in stock and was a glitch in their system.
http://www.embassycamera.com just ordered one. They migh have a few more. Got my x100s from them last year. Good guys.
Adorama has a long history of saying items are in stock when they are not. It happened to me years ago. They made it hard for me to cancel my order for items they finally admitted they did not in fact have in stock, nor did they apologize. I have never since considered them a reputable company, will never spend another dime with them, and will do what i am doing now: warning others of their unethical business practices.
Called them at 9:30 – out of stock. Website still showed in stock. Appears they had 30 or so units, gone that quickly. 🙁
There’s one left in stock for 1,050 USD through an ebay seller if you follow Patrick’s ebay link. Seems like a solid seller. It shipped within hours and it has tracking.
I cost me a total of 1,085 USD incl. shipping. That works out as about 40 dollars more expensive than buying it with i.e. B&H and shipping it to Greenland.
The cool thing about spending that extra 40 bucks is that I can actually buy the lens and have it shipped right away instead of buying the lottery ticket to the pre-order waiting game (and obviously I should have just pre-ordered this lens on day 1) .
🙂
Funny how this site is becoming about stock status!
i went to Adorama yesterday march 5,.but had nothing there and today march 6, i went there again around 3pm was asking about the body only XT1 and it was sold out 3 items 5 minutes before i came was so disappointing ,.and i accidentally asked my friend who working there about the Lens 56/1.2 and he said; wow you are so lucky,.we just got them from their truck,.and 10 minutes later ,.i got the first one,.He said i’m the first one who get this lens in NYC,..and i rushed to B&H asked my friend also who working there ,.and he said ; we have one more left in stock,.and i said to him,.Gave it to me and locked the item,.and now i got the XT1 and 56/1.2
My pre-order from Adorama (thru your links) was shipped out today.
Hello Guys,
Do you know how to extimate the customs costs for Germany, if, like theFR reader Luzu described, I decide to pay on delivery buyin from B&H?
Thank you for your help!
Bye!
google on: camera lens import duty germany
Its around 25% the import value (goods + shipping and other costs).
Thank you tim!
Amazon will calculate the cost and add it to the basket, making it totally painless for you.
It would be really cool if you could update your title from “UPDATE In Stock” to reflect reality instead of serving as link bait.
You’re better than that, aren’t you?
I’ve put the whole information in the title… who knows if there are really people who just read the title of the post.
Thank you, appreciate that.
In an earlier post, I noted that 999 EUROS was not very fair if the price was indeed 999 DOLLARS. An intelligent contributor replied that it was the fault of European governments and high taxes, bla bla bla… I answered that his statement was asinine and that we only had to wait a few weeks, maybe 2-3 months, until resellers became less greedy and market adjusted itself.
Well, it didn’t take event that long: just a couple of days and already things
are looking up: the lens is now priced at 842 euros at DigitalLand and
849 euros at OneStop Digital… We’re on the right track.
So, now, was I right, or… was I right? ;o)))
The reseller is not buying cameras from the USA … rather buying in the UK and passing along the Fuji UK discounts. Thats a big difference 🙂
Oh but now, your earlier statement was completely unqualified, right? You simply boldy stated that, owing to our government(s)’ (which one(s), by the way?) policies, it was not surprising that we would never benefit from more reasonable prices than 999 euros for that lens. To which I simply replied, in an equally unqualified manner, “Let’s just wait a little, until the market adjusts itself”… which is just what’s happening right now, even faster than I foretold.
Bottom line: you were wrong, better admit it and be recognized as a grownup.
Unfortunately I’m not wrong 😉 You have a problem with causality.
Clearly… far from being a grownup yet. Not altogether unexpected.
