Today I’d like to share with you Antony’s first stop motion wedding video, shot entirely with a Fuji X-T1.
He hesitated quite a lot before ditching his Canon for Stop Motion Videos, as he worried especially about battery life etc. However, he “worked out how best to set up the cameras to achieve the results I need for my films.”
And now, when it comes to weddings, he’s 100% on Fuji, even for his stop motion videos. His first Fuji-Only Wedding consists in”4500 RAW files, of which about 1600 make the final cut. Add to that another 1500-1800 stills and it’s a 170GB day!”
Check out Antony’s Forum post to see “what can be achieved with Fuji gear“!
I have to say that we have very creative and talented photographers over at our Fuji X Forum (including some official Fuji X-photographers). Keep up sharing your awesome work and ideas with us X-shooters.

Please don’t post headlines playing the fanboy and smashing the competition. You really don’t want to follow the same direction as your Sony rumors buddy. His site is filled with angry fanboys. I come to your site because you post amazing images and you’re one of the good guys.
Well done. Clearly actual thought went into many of these shots, rather than just pointing it at something in intervals and calling it stop motion. The latter is easy to do these days, so people think anyone can do it, but good conceptual ideas all put together well is still a photographer’s job. =)
170GB though, that’s a lot, still a 256GB card wouldn’t even break a sweat. 😉 Makes me wonder, is the single card slot safe enough for weddings? Did anyone ever lose their images from card failure in-camera? I haven’t, and i’ve shot a lot.
Always used SanDisk ‘Extreme’ because they’ve always done me well. But haven’t done any payed jobs important enough to warrant even more certainty.
I have, at the most awful time. F1 race at Monza, handholding a 7D plus 100-400mm for three hours in heat, directly under the sun, to get the perfect position from the stands, taking hundreds of test pics and…..memory card jams right after the start of the race – 16 GB CF Sandisk Extreme as well.. Let me tell you, I felt like jumping in and telling them to restart the race….
I use the 64GB Sandisk with the 250MBS speed to clear the buffer quickly – nothing worse than a full buffer! In fact, that’s the one area where the 1Dx was much better, because the write speed of CF cards is higher, and of course the much larger buffer.
Really nice ! Less static than pictures only, more dynamic than movie.
Great idea ! Especially the scenes on the truck and with the bowling balls with ‘dancing’.
How many X-cameras do you use ?
Hi Turlututu, I have 4 X-T1s that I use on a wedding day, two for the films and two for stills.
Nice ! And you seem to enjoy instax too 🙂
Seen the low light performance I find you very courageous to use Fuji X for event-shooting. I’ve tried to do this first with the X100, then the X-Pro1 and finally the X-T1 multiple times but the result was never close to what I liked from ‘my standard’ Nikon full frame (and Nikon CLS) solution. I’m having around me a lot of people having both DSLR & Fuji X – and they keep the X mostly as a second system because there is so much frustration about the poor TTL-flash solution too. After all – if doing (evening and low-light) events would have been my only type of shooting – I would have abandoned Fuji for a very long time for the sake this kind of mission remained a bit of adventure and even with the X-T1, the AF is just on the edge of what a camera should do in more dim situations and, what I also experienced, colored LED & fluorescent lighting completely confuses the AF-algorithms. Though the X-series shine in other situations, it’s the perfect travel and ‘on location’ kind of gear – but used in good light – precisely that is the sweet spot where I love to use the system.
Wonder if the “Sony Camera’s First Agreement” is now off the table http://www.engadget.com/2015/10/06/sony-image-sensor-company/
Yikes, hope that shutter holds up, unless he’s using electronic shutter.
damn… I guess this comes because yesterday I saw “Good Bye Lenin” again. What a brilliant movie.
It was not in my intent to offend other brands. But in future I’ll think about it even more, if certain headline could hurt someones sensibility. So thanks for the feedback
Agreed. I like this site but some of these headlines scream “fanboy”. Is it really breaking news every time someone decides to use his fuji camera as opposed to his other camera? Are we going to fly the fuji flag at half mast if tommorrow , he decides to take some pictures with his Canon? And the XT-! has been out for over a year….I promise you, this is not the “FIRST STOP MOTION WEDDING SHOT” If people want to highlight this guys work because they feel its worth taking notice, I love that , thats great. But to make a big deal because he now carries enough batteries and bought a few more memory cards is really reaching for content.
The focus in this post is on Antony’s first stop motion movie with Fuji on assignment and why he doesn’t need his Canon for weddings anymore. And that’s all packed in the headline.
The idea and its realization are very nice and worth to be shared/seen/known, IMO. It’s for sure a long and hard job to make such a video.
Anyway, next time I’ll consider to write more neutral titles like “Guy makes something particular with Fuji camera on a certain assignment and now that guy does not need a certain brand for his assignments anymore.”
Personally I don’t care how you tittle anything you write. Do what you want .This is your site , you take great efforts in bringing news and rumors to fuji fans and you do a good job at it. If you feel that tittle best describes Antony”s decision to use his Fuji to make a wedding video , then great. It was just my opinion…so relax
Thanks for the feedback. My aim is to write perfect articles that satisfy in content & form every reader… But by writing 700 artcles (and headlines ;)) a year, I guess there will always be room for critics…. which I accept, and if kindly written and motivated I really do appreciate and help me to improve.
Actually, I’m 100% Fuji for weddings, I still use canon in the studio and for my commercial work. Thanks for the share!
So I’ve updated the post, which now says “And now, when it comes to weddings, he’s 100% on Fuji, even for his stop motion videos.”
And congratulations for the amazing video. It was happy to share it on FR.
A very well made video for sure, grats to the photographer! However, I agree with some of the other posts: This is not “breaking news” and should not be publicized as such. This video could have been made with cameras from any brand, it’s the thought that went into it that counts.
hmm, real cool. Like that!!
