We have more confirmation about the Fujfilm X-T10 and additional specs, leaked by digicame-info. Rumors shared previously here on FR are confirmed: the pop-up flash, the smaller EVF compared to X-T1, the name (X-T10), the kit lens will be an XC lens.
The body will be made out of metal and will have Five dials. I have no information about a PASM dial… so I think it won’t feature a PASM dial.
And stay tuned on FujiRrumos on May 18 via facebook, google+, RSS-feed and twitter.

With a PASM dial, and an XC lens (no aperture ring), this seems like more of an X-M1 replacement than an X-E1/2 replacement. Does that mean that the X-E series will survive?
NO PASM dial
Maybe it won’t have a PSAM dial but it should. They say 5 dials?
1. PSAM Mode dial
2. Drive Mode dial (in place of current ISO dial)
3. Exposure Comp dial
4. Front dial for shutter speed
5. Rear dial for aperture
This is the sensible layout when pairing with XC lenses and gives people a familiar point of entry into the X system if the X-T1/X-E2 control layout was a turn off.
That would get my interest up. Except I just got into m4/3, got tired of waiting for Fuji to ever make a camera I liked.
They could eliminate the incessant proliferation of dials by simply adding third stops to the shutter speed dial. A locked ISO dial is less useful than it appears to be. Simplifying interfaces is a good thing.
Oh no pasm dial? Sweet that’s what I’m hoping for!
That seems unlikely if the XC lens is the standard kit. No aperture ring on the lens means you need the PASM modes. (or those Mirrorless beginners are gonna be confused.)
no PASM dial… don’t worry 😉
That should be the almost next x-e3!
i Wonder What all the Other dials will be… also any hints of the price?
so af is the same 0.08…?
With right price, ill buy that. Havent bought 56mm yet, cos its way too big with my X-M1, but with X-T10 it will fit well.
But what I really want is X100M(ini) = X100T in X-M1 body (metal instead of plastic) with PASM dial instead of shutterspeed-dial, and black body with white or brown “leather” *
*yes I know there is 27mm , but 23 f2 is smaller and better for me
Why would you want a PASM dial? I think those are the most confusing and unintuitive controls on beginner cameras. Every Fuji with shutter speed dial has PASM functionality, it’s just spread out over several other controls (like it should be in imo).
Believe me, we don’t “want” it, but there is no aperture ring on a XC lens. Without it, one would have to use the display to switch modes, or .. a PASM dial.
I know that but I was asking George specifically because he said he’d want a smaller X100 with PASM dial.
Fuji just needs to stop making lenses without aperture ring. Inconsistency really is hurting their system.
So it looks like some of the Kaizen FW update for the X-T1 will be to bring certain features up to date with the X-T10.
16mp. Again.
If you can’t get stunning results from 16mp without AA filter then something’s wrong!
That’s old news. Fuji clearly indicated that any new sensor will be on the future flagship (aka XPRO2)
The new XC lens is only available in silver at the moment…wonder how this will look on a black only body…perhaps they will introduce a black version again.
Same AF speed as X-T1 at this moment !
It means that the Turbo Boost ( FW 4.0 rumor) is only for the X-T1 to maintain a big enough gap between the two camera’s.
There is no need for an EVF hump at the specified magnification.
No but the dslr form factor works for a lot of people. And it wouldn’t make sense calling it the X-T10 and making it rangefinder form.
Olympus Pen-F series were SLR cameras but had no hump. A rangefinder form factor isn’t defined by hump or no hump – unless you consider outboard finders humps, in which case, most early rangefinders, and all wide angle lenses should be used with centre-mounted humps.
Most people talking here about humps want the viewfinder on the side and not the middle. I was speaking to what I think is common understanding here.
The flash also though (remember there isn’t enough room in the xt1)
Looks like a parts bin camera. A way to reuse already purchased components to reduce the cost on everything. If successful it will dry up their component inventory and allow them to introduce a new model with new parts sooner.
I agree, hopefully a win win all round
How very E-M10 of them. Hopefully it is well priced.
The EM 10 is pretty popular.
Indeed it is, I expect this will be too and may be the end of the X-E series like the E-M10 was largely the end of the E-P series. The changes and timing are very very similar though, the E-M10 was a slightly cheapified E-M5.
When will the X-T1 4.0 firmware update be available for download? Before the X-T10 is officially announced, after the X-T10 is officially announced or on the same day?
rumors say 11 May… but this can easily change even in the last second (memento X100 firmware)
Disappointing it’s the same old sensor again, I was hoping this might have had a bayer even if it was going to keep the same resolution. Be interesting to see the price point it comes in at. The X-E2 with 18-55 currently goes for £729 in the UK (Fuji’s own price), so presumably it has to beat that price point with the XC lens as the specs are otherwise identical.
If they had put the X-A1/2 sensor in a X-T1eque body I would be extremely down with that.
You can always get the X-A2…
And that would be the same how?
You get the sensor you want if the bayer sensor is what you really want.
I don’t shoot just a sensor, I shoot a camera. A X-T1 style with that sensor, but cheaper because of it, would be very tempting indeed.
Honestly, at that point you might as well pick up a smaller DSLR, or if you want to splash some cash, pick up a Sony. There are loads of other companies making loads of other cameras with an SLR or SLR-like form factor, no bigger (or even smaller) than the X-T1 with a bayer sensor.
If a Fuji ‘T’ body was released with a bayer sensor it would be utterly, utterly redundant. The X-Trans is part of Fuji’s marketing and one of its biggest selling points; you’re only going to see other sensors used on Fuji’s much, much simpler and lower-end cameras. The X-Trans for Fuji is like a big, fast telephoto lens painted white for Canon, or staying ahead of the pack in dynamic range for Sony. It’s square format for Hasselblad and a 35mm lens on a Leica. It’s the identity of the system. A Fuji T body without an X-Trans sensor is a slower-focusing Nikon Df or a Sony A7 with worse IQ.
Canon just released the 750D and 760D. They’re Canon’s latest entry-level, small-bodied DSLRs. They’re smaller and lighter than the Fuji T body style. They’ve got a tilty screen, which is also a touch screen, they have a bayer array with 150% of the resolution of the T1/T10, they have a faster AF system (albeit with fewer points covering a smaller area), they’re much cheaper for the body than the T1 (and probably cheaper than the T10 will be) and their equivalent lenses are significantly cheaper. If you want a compact-but-SLR-like camera with a bayer filter and a lower price tag than the X-T1, well, there’s your answer.
There’s also simply no reason to believe switching to a bayer system would make the camera cheaper. In fact it would likely make it more expensive, as that’s not a part Fuji has bucket loads of sat around, and it’d diminish the T10’s chances at market, meaning Fuji would need to make more back off every unit sold; either a higher price point would be on the cards or even more features would have to be stripped back, in either case producing a worse result for you, the consumer. It doesn’t make sense for Fuji, it doesn’t make sense or the market at large and if you’d actually think these things through instead of dreaming up hypothetical white papers, you’d know it wouldn’t make sense for you, either.
And I say this as someone who has been screaming for a new, higher-resolution and much sharper sensor from Fuji myself. I’m with you there. I want a new sensor. I want something sharper, I want something bigger. I know damn well that whatever new, bigger sensor comes out will still be an X-Trans, though. And that’s fine. If I didn’t want an X-Trans sensor, I’d be using a Sony or reinvesting in more Canon stuff.
Given Fuji’s known to be working on an organic sensor, it is entirely safe to say that the X-Trans will not be replaced until that launches. You can, absolutely categorically, forget about a bayer sensor being put into any mid-range or better Fuji release before the organic sensor is ready for market. (And who knows exactly what kind of array that will have.) Fuji have absolutely no reason whatsoever to ditch X-Trans, let alone in a made-to-budget downscaled body using leftover parts from other models. You have to be insane to think, for the slightest moment, that this would ever have a bayer sensor and that even if it did, that would be anything other than an expensive downgrade.
The XA1 is $100 cheaper than the XM1, just an interesting point as it means that fuji can obviously source bayer sensors at a cheaper price. I am actually in the bandwagon for a bayer fuji (my x100 is bayer and its great)simply for the easier raw workflow. However I’ll be buying an xtrans since thats all they have with an evf
I never expected it to be a bayer anyway. Doing that would dilute the messaging of the x-trans (regardless of whether anyone agrees with it or not).
I was hoping for a Bayer also, but as pointed out by someone else on here – that would result in much worse autofocus due to no pdaf. I’ll just get this and buy c1 or in trident developer to develop the xtrans raf files
Why does Bayer HAVE to mean no PDAF?
As unless Fuji get a new sensor, their current Bayer one used in the xa1/2 doesn’t have pdaf
Yawn. Another body recycling the same 16mp sensor. Pass. I’ll stick with my ancient XE2 until we get a new sensor. Fuji is starting to feel like Olympus, releasing body after body, year after year with the same outdated sensor.
No, olympus have moved to a worse sensor 😉
I don’t understand…which are the differences between x-t10…and x-t1?
“Known”:
XT-10 has smaller EVF; No WR; no ISO Dial (important to some people); Body Metal instead of magnesium alloy; Smaller EVF probably means no zoomed smaller imaged of the AF point. Seems to have an “Automatic scene recognition auto mode” (tbd what that means exactly)
Nothing fundamental (im /my/ eyes) making this a perfect (ie cheaper) 2nd body to a regular X-T1; but significant enough to make it clearly distinguishable from the Full-Monty X-T1
This sensor is as old as the hills…I would think that it is probably cheap as dirt for Fuji to source so they will probably make decent money selling this camera (assuming people buy it).
