VIDEO: FujiRumors HAS WHAT YOU WANT :: New X-T1 4.0 FIRMWARE FILE :: For the sake of Science, I’ll test if for you ;)

 photo 4.0 FW XT1_zpszq9nuxqn.jpg

A French FujiRumors reader spotted the Firmware 4.0 file on Facebook… and for the sake of science, I decided to update My Own X-T1 with Firmware 4.0 and test if it works 🙂

It’s really late at night here, and I will do proper testings tomorrow. But it’s pretty nice to see how well it tracks my dog ;).

IMPORTANT NOTE: Although the file is circulating on facebook, I decided to remove it.

  1. Well, considering the official release is less than a week away, Fuji should be in their final regression/stabilization period of code testing, so hopefully no major bugs will still be present…but you never know.

      1. when face detection and eye detection are turned on, the back button focus does not work… still playing with it.

    1. Or it could be on purpose – free testing and feedback from real customers, with a week to spare and react to any issues 😉

  2. Guys, beware of this… If you install this version, your camera will see it as version 4.0 and when the new version will be released officially, it won’t allow you to upgrade because the camera won’t see a difference in version number.

      1. With Nikon (i used to test for them) versions were like this: 4.0.0a or any letter identifying pre-release version. Also we had a tool to roll-back the camera to a previous version. I don’t think Fuji allows you to roll-back to previous firmware version… At least i’ve never tried it.

    1. It is likely that the beta version has a beta flag that’s not displayed by the camera but visible to FW updater, so it will update just fine. Another possibility is that it’s a final version leaked ahead of a scheduled release date.

I’ve downloaded it, but still contemplating.

    2. You could obviously change the version number to 3.9 before installing it and you shouldn’t run into any issues. Still a small risk obviously.

  3. Amazing improvement visible using the 35mm. Very happy. Would love some feedback on the 14mm f2.8 also, any difference?
