DEAL: Zeiss Touit lenses now for $499 (32mm) and $699 (12mm).

 photo zeiss_zpsb1tsil1k.jpg

Again, a huge discount on the Zeiss Touit lenses for Fujifilm! And this time you don’t have to buy them both to profit from the big price drop, but you can purchase them separately.

You can grab the 12mm f/2.8 lens for $699 at BHphoto, AmazonUS and Adorama.
You can grab the 32mm f/1.8 lens for $499 at BHphoto, AmazonUS and Adorama.

This is just the last episode of a series of price drops and deals on the Zeiss Touit lenses for Fuji X-mount. The lenses started with a price tag of $1,250 for the 12mm and $900 for the 32mm almost 2 years ago.

Then Zeiss lowered the price to $999 for the 12mm and $719 for the 32mm. In June 2014 there was a terrific $800 price drop if you purchased both lenses together (you basically got one for free). Last year in November the rebate for the combo was of $420 (total price $1,299).

With this rebate, the price for both lenses is of $1,198… but, unlike most of the other times, you can grab them separately.

As you know, there is an up to $200 rebate also on the XF 35mm ($459) and XF 14mm ($699). So which one should you go for, the Zeiss or the Fujinon? Well, I recommend to read Rico’s excellent Fuji vs Zeiss comparison here… and then let us know what you consider the better choice.

    1. Picked them both up with last year’s deal. No way I will part with them. Love them both. At the time I also had the Fuji 35mm. After a couple of weeks of comparing the 32mm and the 35mm, I sold the 35mm.

    2. I rembered it was $750 for both 32mm and 12mm Zeiss lens. Sadly, this year the price went up higher even during the special sale.

  1. I’ve had both sets. The Fuji 14 and 35 and the Zeiss 12 and 32. All 4 lenses are excellent so let’s set that aside. How should you choose? Pick the one that has the focal length you need or get the best feel from. In my case it’s the Fuji 14 and 35. The focal lengths are more “pleasing” to my eye and I just naturally frame better with them. Don’t know why, can’t explain it. Same reason why I like a 35 and 24 focal length on 35mm film but not a 28.

Zeiss won’t reveal any info but I hope they do some more Touit lenses for Fuji but I doubt it. Since Sony changed their stuff up again the market for Touit is less than it used to be and Fuji may not be enough for them to bother. Still, I hope they’ll come out with their version of a 56mm or 23mm that’s significantly different from the Fuji offerings.

    1. How do you find autofocus speed on xf 35, comparing to touit 32? I like the image coming out of 32, but AF speed is on the slow side. Just thinking, if it’s worth switching to xf35.

      1. I found them to be nearly the same. The Zeiss, with the firmware update, may be slightly faster and quieter. Still, they are very very similar and similar results. I would be happy with either but the slightly longer 35 and slightly faster 1.4 is just enough for me to keep the 35.

        1. Thanks for the input. I’ll stick to the zeiss then. Although I do lust for 1.4 aperture at times, I like the harsher bokeh rendering of the touit.

  2. Can’t believe you guys get such good deals over there.. Currently in the UK the 12mm touit is £750 from most sellers compared to in US where it’s around £480……. Us UK buyers need to a word with someone, whoever that might be

    1. If it’s selling reasonably well then why would they? They are the only true 1:1 macro lens for Fuji and they are excellent lenses. So that probably keeps demand consistent.

  3. You want a good deal on a 12mm? Get the Rokinon/Samyang 12/2. It’s sharper at 2.8 and has less coma, astigmatism, and native distortion than the Zeiss. You’ll have to man up/woman up and focus manually.
