I got a hint from anonymous source (thanks a lot!), unveiling the announcement of the long-expected weather resistant XF35mmF2.
According to the source, the lens will be announced…
… on October 21. This could fit with what rumored earlier (announcement in late October).
NOTE: Anonymous sources can use a nick-name if they want, so I can recognize them in future.
And what about the 1.4 teleconverter? No word for now, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it will be announced on the same day. And btw, I know I’ve already shared this information several times on FR, but repetita iuvant: as shared first already back in Febraury 2015, the 1.4x teleconverter will work with the following lenses: XF50-140mm, XF120mmF2.8 R Macro, XF100-400mm. And as said on October 2, unless Fujifilm was able to defy the laws of physics, you’ll lose a stop of light using the 1.4x teleconverter on those lenses.

great, any price expectations for Europe? EUR/GBP
I think it will be quite affordable.
Ballpark figure? between the 35mm 1.4 and 27mm 2.8 ? 😀
I think it will be quite affordable … for an mirrorless, highly corrected, weather resistent lens, made out of high quality material 😉
But not like an XF 27mm. It could be for the same price as the XF 35mm F1.4 – it is new and has WR (hopefully).
If it will not be much cheaper than 35/1.4 many will stay with 35/1.4 for sure.
I am more afraid about its rendering, hope it has 27/2.8 or 18/2 signature, not boring one of the last 23/1.4.
23 1.4 boring? Lolz
I HOPE it will. And maybe ebay will be full of second-hand 35mm 1.4 at very low price. Hope a refresh of 60mm too for the same reason 😉
can you give us a more precise definition of “quite affordable” 😉
Patrick, please, any precision on 60mm refresh ?
no updates for now, sorry
I think he “could” do many things (telling us about 35mm, TC, maybe even the roadmap), but fist he should tell us about his NDA xD
Rico, you tested it resulting in a “quite affordable” price expectation” ?
Is it optically better than 35F1.4 at same apertures ? Faster motors inside ?
Damn, should I sell my Zeiss 32mm now, better price before 35mm hits the market? LOOOVE the Zeiss sharpness and how it renders, so it’s a bit gamble to sell it before I see sample images. This 35mm looks smaller, I prefer smaller but not if there is big difference in image quality
I am in the same boat as you … Love my zeiss and dont know what to do .. Loved the fuji 35mm 1.4 too, but the focus speed /internal focus and microcontrast edges it for the zeiss for me … And if the AF is even better for the new 35mm 2 and also the image quality is comparable there will be some changes here. Crossing fingers x
For future reference, it’s written Don Quixote in English. (I thought Spanish, too.)
Don Quichotte in french, I feel at home 🙂
ok, now it’s to Don Quijote…como el original, en Español
Don Chisciotte, in Italian 🙂
THANK YOU FOR ALL THAT YOU DO HERE, PATRICK!!!
any hint on the pricing?
Should be cheaper than the 35mmF1.4. For now I don’t have more information
I wonder if it will work on the xpro1
I’m actually excited about this, after getting the 16mm WR and the 90mm WR Ive wanted something in the middle that is also WR, this will be welcome in my bag!!!
I just had a kinda out there thought. What if Fuji went the Canon route with their 35mm (50mm equivalent) They’d have the general purpose 35mm f/2, a revised 35mm f/1.4 v2 and then add rumored the high performance 33mm f/1.0. Just a thought. 🙂
