Short update from the Fuji front. We already know Fuj is going to introduce a new X-E1 interchangeable lens camera and another X compact camera at Photokina (see picture on top). Fujirumors reports that a more professional X camera (X PRO 2?) may arrive ine arly 2013. The good guys from Fuji US just launched a $300 rebate on the current X PRO 1 at Amazon (Click here to see all details).
And another good news is that current X PRO 1 owners will soon get a new firmware update. Photorumors found that Facebook post written by Tony Bridge. A new X PRO 1 firmware update is coming on September 5th, 2012. These are the highlights:
1) In low-light condition, the X-Pro1 will be much faster in Auto Focus mode.
2) The speed of the image coming into focus when turning the focus ring has been vastly improved.
3) At maximum speed the X-Pro1 can now write to SD memory card twice as fast as before.

Logical step…
Now, with $300 discount, There wont be a unrealistic difference
compared to the XE-1
Let’s continue to delude ourselves into believing the xp2 will be FF. (never mind the xf lenses are only apsc sized image circle.)
As is Sony NEX… doesn’t seem to be stopping them.
$300 discount? That hurts!!
Sounds like some badly needed speed optimizations are coming. Those, and 2.8-4 zoom, will suddenly make it a very good camera. But what took them so long?
It is better if Fuji price the X-E fairly to begin with.
best buy (canada) has been giving 15% off sales on the xpro 1’s already. unless fuji is reducing the MRSP, this discount is not that significant (at least in canada anyway)
My god, XP1/XF1 lens is really slow at tele. And its probably a 2/3″ sensor considering the 6.4-25.6 focal range., not a 1″ like on the RX100…
X-Pro1 was $300 overpriced at lunch so this brings the price in line with competition (assuming the f/w resolved the AF issue). X-E1 at $1000 is reasonable considering NEX-6 and EM-5
My last shots with XP1 were problematic. Way too much color bleeding from RAW processing in Lightroom. Does Fuji really want continue to go down that path with that filter on the sensor? Fuji better write the code themselves and give it to Adobe because I think Adode said screw you. It seems way too much work for them to get it right for the small number of their customers with that camera.
Please make a version with a 35mm equivalent prime, a kind of baby-X100. There are not enough prime lens compacts, and if anybody can fill that niche sensibly, it is Fuji.
Wouldn’t call $300 a massive discount !!
That too the discount is towards the lens purchase. All it does is make the 2nd hand XPro1 cheaper, much cheaper.
Hi Admin, the firmware will launch at 5September or 5October?
u make me confused.
please fix the title – september is misspelled.
make a green leatherette version: a digital ‘Werra’
Paragraph writing is also a excitement, if you be acquainted with afterward
you can write or else it is complex to write.
I’m curious to find out what blog platform you’re using?
I’m having some small security problems with my latest site and I would like to find something more safe. Do you have any solutions?
