Still not convinced? Then here is another one:

Fujifilm Hong Kong (via Fujfilm Studio) just said on facebook, that the X-E2 FW4 is currently scheduled for next year mid-January. Earlier this year, my sources and even Fujifilm itself said it will come by the end of this year. If Fuji Hong Kong is right, than there has been a little delay on the release.

Thanks a lot for the FR-reader who spotted and shared this with all of us 🙂

stay tuned,

  1. Whether November, December or January I don’t really care. As long as it brings us the new AF I’ll be really glad. If we also get the electronic shutter I’ll be extremely happy.
And if we end up getting direct AF point selection, full “T mode” and EC in manual mode then I’ll love this camera to death. Almost.

  2. I hope I’m just paranoid but with a January release and the alleged X-Pro2 coming at the same time I hope this won’t be a final firmware and end of life announcement for the X-E line.

    1. End of life !? It ends when you stop using it. Does nobody remember the time where camera’s did not get any firmware updates at all ..

They have to move on at some point, but if FW4.0 brings even a few of the things we hope it does, then they sure do so on a high note.

      1. Well most of the more expensive cameras have gotten nearly always gotten an Firmware update or to from all manufacturers but most of this has been to fix bug. Fuji on the other hand would seem more interested in getting the most out of their current models than always pushing new one with incremental updates to just as a feature here or there. That said Fuji’s current range is mostly the same camera with different buttons and dials and some features.

    1. I am still looking at possibly getting one new but I would not want to commit until this new firmware is actually a reality. I may otherwise get an X-T10 instead.

  3. Improved AF, and direct AF point selection through the four d-pad is a must.

Likewise, I’d like to always view the images on LCD when pushing “Play” button and “EVF + OC sensor” mode is selected.

Also, a cleaner info display on the EVF -like on the XT1&10 and X100T- is desirable.

  4. I can only guess that they want to sell some more X-T10 to X-E2 owners over the holidays, before the X-E2 finally gets the same firmware 😉

  5. I really hope Fuji improves the XE2’s video features in this firmware release. Even just adding 24/25/50 fps will be a great start. Having full manual control on top would be a blessing. I’m already sick of having my XE1 and XE2 run at different frame rates.

  6. Fuji kind of dropped the ball in regards to the XE-2 and X100s. Red headed step children.

I really just don’t think this FW update is really going to come. They will release the xPro2 and hope that the XE-2 people will upgrade. I have been waiting to buy an XE-2 because I like the size and the range finder EVF. Oh well…the longer I wait the cheaper it’s going to be to purchase if they ever do release the FW.

  7. I really wish they didn’t release so many camera bodies in a short time period and just tried to focus on one really innovative camera body. I want a rangefinder camera with a tilt screen, dual SD card slots, built in flash, and good video recording capability. Basically a hybrid baby camera body of the XT-1, XEe2, and X-Pro2.
