TIME OF FLIGHT CAMERA
Sony has just acquired Softkinetic Systems.
This company is best knoen for ToF sensor technology.
ToF is a non-scaning ranging sensor technology.
A single laser pulse iluminates the scene and based on the speed of light exact range information is simultaneously determined at every pixel location.
Sony intends to merge thier own technology with this technology.
I am absolutely certain they will use this technology, however I am not certain what they will use it for.
Source…imagesensorworldblogspot plus assorted technichal details from numerous technical articles when I googled TOS sensor.
Admin is aware of this breaking news and I would expect we will hear more about it in the near future.
Driverless cars?
Sonyy also has a 1000 frame/second sensor for. ” faster than human vision” camera.
Combining faster than human vision texh with Time of Flight tech would make a really super drverless car camera.
Using non visible light would also allow vision through fog and in total darkness.
Such a camera would be faster than human, see in any wheather, and not be limited to headliggt range.
I think use in driverless cars is almost a certainty .
What I wonder is if this tech will in some way be adapted to photography…for example some sort of ultimate autofocus system? I do not know how it might be done but I would expect Sony engineers should be avle to think of things that I have not.

SAR admin:
Why do you post again this Zeiss Distagon FE 35mm f/1.4 ZA T* Sample Photos (ePhotozine) post? The original review was written: 28 Aug 2015 11:06AM
And you already posted it at least 3 times.
You do the same with a photographyblog/admiringlight links and some other kind of links.
same with admiringlight link (aug 28) and nothing new information.
Please don’t post links more than onces because this is very annoying if somebody believes the link will be a new information, review about the lens and not the same again.
thanks,
Daniel
Until Zeiss can get their a***s in gear and actually produce enough of these lenses to keep them in stock, I don’t care. A lens in my bag is the only kind of lens that is any good to me. Paying clients don’t care what I have preordered. Come on Zeiss
