Hi all
I hope you had a great Easter break.
Let’s start this week with a very fresh rumor brought to you by our top trusted Japanese source, who dropped me an email a few hours ago, with a rumor that I guess will make some X-shooters out there pretty happy.
The source says, that the Fujifilm X-PRO2 will have a mechanical shutter (MS) speed that goes up to 1/8000 of a second.
That’s it…. now feel free to spread the word… and if possible quote FR as the original source π .
And here is the updated X-PRO2 specs list.
(TS= trusted source / NeS =New Source / AS = Anonymous Source / SRP = source who was right in the past / OS = other sites)
– APS-C sensor (TS + AS + AS)
β 24MP sensor (AS) β More than 16MP (AS)
– 1/8000 of a second mechanical shutter speed (TS)
β dual SD card slot (NeS)
β coming late 2015 (TS + AS)
β coming September / October (OS + OS)
β tilt screen (AS)
β WiFi (AS)
β Non organic ASP-C X-Trans sensor (OS)

flash sync speed would be interesting too..
Yeah! Flash sync speed is so much more important to me than this. Please Fuji make it 1/320 of a second like my current Nikon. Oh, I guess I’m buying X-100 T anyway π
X sync is the only thing holding me back now from the X-T1 ….. X100s is such a treat to use. Wishing they could put a leaf shutter in that puppy! Come on ….. HSS!!!
+1000
Mirrorless camera bodies should have the highest flash Sync speeds around.
Is there anything missing, with that list of specs? oh yes, the price tag π
not really… there is an indication about the price (20%-30% more expensive than X-T1). So the price could be around $1.558 to $1688
NOTE: comes from anonymous source, though
I don’t think that this 1/8000 s mechanical shutter is a good news… That means that Fuji is not capable to come up with a global shutter sensor! Global shutter is the futur!
It is not Fuji per se, but the sensor manufacturers
; In the meantime mechanical 1/8000 s is good news.
Fuji does not make sensor. They buy them from Toshiba (2/3) and Sony (APS-C). If Sony produces a super APS-C sensor with global shutter and whatever, Fujifilm will buy it and put it into their X-series cameras (unlesss they are able to bring out their own organic sensor)
I don’t see why we couldn’t just have the 1/8000s mechanical (wide open in bright light without ND) and the 1/32000s electronic just like in the X100T and XT-1.
I wish Fuji could figure out some black magic voodoo, and somehow (despite being really difficult it seems), place a leaf shutter in the body. I’d take that over 1/8000s.
Don’t know if this is wise or necessary 1/8000 MS with a mechanical shutter. But longer batterylife beside of all the wishfeatures above would be nice. Or at least full functionality when a external power resource is connected.
Patrick, you quoted dslrmagazine in February saying that the Pro2 might be smaller than the Pro1. Do you think that might still be possible?
The Japanese source has a 100% hit rate until now… so I think that this rumor is correct. I have no idea about dslrmagazine, how reliable their information is. If it is reliable, than I guess we will see an X-PRO2 that is smaller than the X-PRO1 and have a MS speed of 1/8000 of a second.
It would be nice for me if the battery grip for the XT-1 fits! May as well. Ask if you can?
will ask
Who’s the original source then?
Rumor has it that Panasonic will be announcing a new Micro Four Thirds hybrid photo/video cam with 16+ stops of dynamic range, improved low light performance, improved skin tones, improved highlight rendition, usable ISO (almost no grain) up to 12,800 in a few days so Fuji really needs to step things up in those five areas.
Image should read 1/8000 s, not 1/8000 ms. Not that would be something…..
maybe… but I wrote MS… because there is also the ES (electronic shutter), and I wanted to be clear that we are talking of Mechanical Shutter
doesn’t s in 1/8000 s mean second, as 8000 fractions of a second, 1/8000ms would bee pretty fast, 8thousandth of a millisecond π
In my X-T1 Menu I can choose between MS, ES or MS+ES, where MS stands for mechanical shutter and ES for elecotronic shutter
So with MS I refer to Mechanical Shutter and not to milliseconds.
All these specs, still not very convincing.
FujiRumors, of course π
Patrick – any word on availability of the 16mm f/1.4 R WR??
nothing for now… sorry
‘And if possible quote the original source’. This site is not a source, it is an agent.
I ask to quote FR as the source where the rumor has first been given.
You are NOT the source, you are the agent of the source. When an agent wants to be considered as the source the entire reputation of the agent is destroyed. If you like to add made-up reliability scores to your sources then at least have an understanding of how Corporate intelligence works.
ok, this discussion reminds me of my linguistic science studies π
I understand (really) that it is important to use words properly, and that clarity in language is the highest good. However, this time I decided to simplify things… but sometimes it’s difficult to understand the simplicity.
the thing is this: when you’ll see this rumor reported on other sites, they will insert at the bottom “source-FujiRumors”. These sites could, in fact, also write “agent-FR”, but it’s common use to write “source”.
There are sites that do not quote FR, censor, write things like “sources familiar with the matter” and more (I’ve seen the stragest things). So all I ask for is a gentle quote “source-FujiRumors”… although I agree that it would be good to write “agent-FujiRumors”… but that sounds somehow strange, because in the internet it’s more used to say “source” than “agent”
‘Source quoted by FujiRumors’.
I’d be happy if they just put a link to FR, source, agent or whatever π
When a site or publication quotes from another site or publication they use the term “source” to indicate where they saw, or copied, the information from. Therefore when Patrick asks others to quote their source as Fuji Rumours, sorry I will not use the bastardised American spelling, he is correct. An ‘agent’ is someone who supplies information directly, Patrick does not do this.
Total rubbish.
As is your ability to engage in a reasoned discussion. Making a statement which is then refuted by another, based on the common practice where they reside, and then replaying with a dismissive answer is extremely ill mannered. Unless of course you are from the USA.
X-Pro2 rumors – since 2013
welcome to Fuji World: they planed an X-PRO1S in 2014, they thought to make it FF, they planed to release it first half 2015 and more….
the problem is (mainly) Fuji changing its plans every couple of months… and that drives me nuts. Because, at the end, I result to be wrong, even when I was right at the time of sharing… as with the X70, the 18-135 release, the dual card slot on the X-T1 and more.
It would be safer for me to wait the last second before sharing anything… but I decided to keep you posted step by step with the rumors… and with the updated plans.
Are you sure Fuji actually changes its plans that much? Going to full frame is not a change someone undertakes on a whim, then discards no less lightly. Likewise releasing an intermediate “s” model. These are decisions whose consequences involve millions of dollars, and no company just throws that around.
It’s likely more accurate to say that someone, somewhere, is tasked with investigating a full frame line, is given a deadline of when to report, and a budget to carry out the investigations, and someone else gets wind of it & tells you the X-Pro 2 is going to be full frame. Or, Fuji spreads misinformation precisely to hide their true intent, or to expose unreliable company men who can’t keep secrets. Even that’s being generous; rumors are a game of telephone, after all, one which a lot of us obviously don’t mind, since we visit this web page a fair amount.
Fujifilm often changes plans… that’s all I can say. But I think that’s normal. They look at the market, month after month, and then adapt their plans
I don’t think fuji is changing their plans as much as the rumor senders were just plain wrong.
sometimes rumor sender where wrong, sometimes Fuji changed plans…. believe me, Fuji changes plans very often.
X200 FF, X-PRO1S, duals SD-card slot on X-T1, X70, 18-135 release along with X-T1 release and much more… all correct at the time of sharing.
You just have my word… can’t give you access to my emails π
And how much of it was really them changing their plans as much as people leaking inaccurate material or just plain spreading false rumors. Other camera companies have been known to throw out rumors to test market acceptance or to fish out people who repeat the rumor.
you’re right… Inaccurate or plain wrong rumors are indeed a problem for me.
In fact I receive more and more fake rumors (it could be a funny and long list to pubslish). And it happened in the past, that I had been deceived by some (a small fraction) of this fake rumors and published them.
So yes, sometimes I’m simply plain wrong. Shit Happens
P.S.: any X-T1 around you? Take a look at the SD-card slot… they sealed one of the two slots π
a correct rumor at the time of sharing… that is now wrong. And it’s like that with many others.
If you could take a look into my email account, you would understand π
P.P.S: Even Fujifilm itself posts wrong anticipations… as when they had the 56mm F1.4 in the roadmap, and on the 17th of April 2013 they released a new roadmap with the 56mmF1.2. Same with the Dual SD-Card slot, same with the X-PRO1S, same with many other things
they have plans, and they change them
Changing a minor spec like f1.4 to 1.2 and the focal lengths a bit isn’t the same as saying they were going to go full frame then pulled back, etc. Certainly they have plans and change them. What I’m saying is that it probably isn’t as frequently as it was made to seem.
probably it’s not that frequently, otherwise I could not have shared almost 90% correct rumors in 2014. But from the remaining 10%, some are wrong becuase sources send wrong rumors, and some are wrong because Fuji changed plans.
Well this is a rumor site, no one expects you to be right about everything. Part of the fun is to figure out what is likely to be true and what not. Fuji is very open about their lens roadmap, but for some reason they keep their plans and specs of new cameras secret until they are about to release them.
So keep ’em coming; facts, rumors and wild speculations. /BjΓΆrn
I think that’s the nature of this site. I have to report rumors when I have them. And not to wait the last second to post them, just to be sure they are right.
And even like it is now, I have a hit rate of almost 90% (in 2014). So I’m happy about 2014, I know it will be hard to match in 2015, but I’ll try it… and take some risks π
what’s a Non organic ASP-C X-Trans sensor (OS)?
it’s an APS-C sensor with X-Trans CFA… and this sensor will not be made out of organic material (the famous organic sensor)
For all the talk about wanting new technologies for the X-Pro 2 it would be much more interesting if it only had a (global) electronic shutter.
But I’m really happy about any TS rumor indicating the camera is being developed at all.
+1 for (global) electronic shutter.
1/8000s is a nice improvement – I really needed it in some shots. But for me more importatnt is AF performance – will it be much better than X-T1 AF which works poorly in low light with only 0EV AF sensitivity (it’s behind all the competition that go to even -4EV)? Will X-Pro2 share same X-Trans II from X-T1 or will be free from its issues – smearing, magneta cast, foliarge, artificial greens, etc? Will X-Pro2 have wider DR then everage X-T1 (it’s worse than X-Pro1 DR)? Will X-Pro2 not cheat with iso – all Fuji cams do cheat about 1EV at high iso) ? Will it have RGB Histogram and blown highlight blinkies during instant review and wider NR settings to -4 and NR OFF? What about more Fn buttons, two user setting buttons, dedicated AF-Back button, better placed AE-L button, all bigger buttons (they are too small) with better tactile feel and all programmable to “Pro” users that X-Pro2 is aimed for? Instead of 4K in X-Pro2 I would rather like Fuji to bring in its “Pro” camera a Group Area AF mode or Bracketing for 5 exposures in 1/3 stop increments or TIFF16 bit file saving from RAW file in camera RAW converter or High Speed Shutter Sync or ND filters or Are these all feautres too much for a PRO camera Fuji names it? If it’s PRO cam then put in it a true PRO features.
Or, and here’s a thought, you buy the camera that gives you what you need instead of blaming the camera for your results.
Very hasty conclusion… and unfair suggestion. Probably you made such one because you do not experience these issues and limitations and probably your shooting are slow. Only badly placed buttons that are also too small are enough to miss many shots. But seems you do not see it.
OK, so why is it that all you do is trash on Fuji and essentially say they aren’t capable of taking great pictures until they can do XYZ specifications? Check my post history, I’ve certainly highlighted things I’d like changed but I also balance it with the things they do quite well. And some of those issues you raise, like “badly placed buttons” are opinions and not facts.
You really mix two things. I have never ever suggested that Fuji cams aren’t capable of taking great pictures. I took many thousands images with X-E1/X-E2, I shooted with X-Pro1, X-100 and X-T1, actually I had an exibition with 20×30″ prints based on images taken with X-E1/X-2, I still use X-E1 (sold X-E2 because of X-Trans II that is in many aspects worse than first X-Trans), my main photography is dynamic photoreports and street action, and yes, Fuji cams are still not well tools for action, for moving shots and low light dynamic shots, and I do not mean sport. And yes, buttons are too small and some most important are badly placed, i.e. AF-L and AE-L, they were revised in X-T1 and placed on different – better – back space but are still too small to use comfortably and fast without the need to take off your eye from VF. Poorly programmable buttons are another issue. Yes, Fuji cams are still everage tools for dynamic action, street and photoreports, they are great for slow photography, great designed with great handling – I love RF type Fuji cams, but they offer everage features – besides some last firmware updates for X-T1 – they are poor performers in low light, tracking and in moving, poor for flash and bracketing (with ancient 1 stop increments!) , no RGB Histogram even for top cameras. I do not trash on Fuji, they do well in other things, sure, but I pointed out things X-Pro2 needs to be truly a Pro camera as its name suggest it is. X-Pro2 will cost about $1700 body, hope not just for the sticked name.
Where is he blaming the camera for his results? Maybe you saw something I didn’t, but I’m pretty sure the only time he came remotely close was his first statement. This would be a great addition and would allow shooting wide open in brighter conditions.
All the points he makes are pretty valid and the features/changes he puts forth would be welcomed, IMO. Fuji needs to keep improving and pushing forward.
I think he makes a LOT of points, I mean come on! That’s a pretty wild list and one might easily have the impression this guy hates everything about his camera (ie blaming it for whatever). Don’t tell me all of that above makes sense π
Funny… for you just list of needed features for a Pro camera that X-Pro1 lack is a prove of hate to it… really very “impressive” look and thinking. I have an imprssion that some Fuji guys lost sound judgement.
Just read his post history. Either he is a serial complainer who enjoys complaining, a troll, or can’t get the results he wants from what he has. Some of his points are valid but are lost in a sea of hyperbole.
Very essential arguments to my list of welcomed features in X-Pro2. Read your post history first, may be you will note how often you belittle and downplay any criticism and pointed issues with Fuji cams, that you call complains. If I am a troll, then you must be a fuji fanboy who cares here for diminishing arguments.
You haven’t read my post history all the way.
Any rumors on the X-PRO3 ?
I’m already on the X-Pro4 8K video and large format sensor with 12 axis IS. All with a sensor so organic, they’re going to be sold at Whole Foods and various farmers’ markets.
It’s coming after the X-Pro4
we will all wear google glass by then and nobody will take picture with traditional cameras (or smartphones) anymore π
Or we are all filming then, just extracting images out of it …
Will it ship with a free copy of Half-Life 3?
Yawn. When is it coming?
As the energizer bunny,β¦. my x100 is still going. This wait for the XPII has surely tested my ability to detachβ¦. I’ll stay happy with my x100/M6 kit. thank you
I’ll keep using my X100s until it breaks. Especially after Fuji dropped their kaizen thing that, in retrospect, was a marketing ploy to get as much people on board as quickly as possible, and then return to the old practice of keeping people to buy into new hardware.
Except that they still apply Kaizen to X-T1 and X-100T a,d some of their zooms. I understand your frustration and agree that it is difficult to read what Fuji really intends to do …
It’s not really Kaizen if those are the latest models, is it?
Kaizen never meant necessarily that each and everyone body should or would get improvements for the xt1and the x100t this is kaizen. I understand your frustration though
1/8000 should be a given for an advanced body (D750 notwithstanding). But the feature I’m really waiting for, that has so far kept me from trying an X camera, is very simple. Just software. Something even the Olympus XZ-2 that I paid $175 for has… pixel mapping.
Apart from the 4K video, which I don’t really believe will be a focus for the XPro models, is there anything on that feature list that could not have been released on an XPro update a year ago?
There’s more going on with XPro than we’re hearing.
the 24MP sensor… I guess (repeat: personal guess) it’s a sensor that is still not available on the market. And Fuji is simply waiting for it to be ready.
Could be. But if not an “organic sensor,” and “just” 24mp, then probably a sensor similar to what SONY have been putting in other cameras for quite some time and hardly explains the delay. π
Could be that other CFA they patented some months ago.
Yes they did but another CFA wouldn’t be good news for RAF files conversion and would be a kind of X-Trans giving off.
And concerning “organic” it doesn’t seem likely either…unless they postpone the camera for a considerable period of time.
Agreed. There’s much more going on than what we’re being told. I fully expect new sensor tech in the X-Pro II. Otherwise, they could have kept the hounds at bay by simply releasing the updated model late last year.
Too often rumors often have little to do with reality, being the province of disinformation and such.
Yes, usable video please. That’s pretty much the only negative about the platform. At this point Fuji has the glass, they have the IQ, they have usable AF. If they get video, I can finally kick this old mirror-box to the curb. Sony is still missing the glass, and their AF on the A7x is much worse than Fuji, but that won’t last.
I hope they focus on 4k. I don’t use video, but for 4k they have to improve on things (sensor readout, processor power) that is important for stills too. So 4k could bring higher frame rates, better AF and other stuff! π
AF Performance, please. This is the only loose end to me. (I wanted to say better EVF but then I remember it has OVF… :P)
Still happy with the x-pro1. I can wait.
Patrick, unless Fuji has a breakthrough sensor/processor combo in the works, a 24mp X Trans sensor would be less efficient than a 16mp X Trans sensor when it comes to gathering light. So how will an X-Pro 2 with 24mp X Trans perform when it comes to dynamic range, low light performance, skin tones and better IQ at higher ISO’s? Gotta be better than what the current 16mp X Trans is capable of or what’s the point of coming out with the X-Pro 2, right?
modern sensor work with light pipes, so the fill factor is about the same, no matter what the individual pixel size is, so Low Light performance would not suffer.
Dynamic range is hugely dependent on Sensor generation, because it’s read noise based (and DR is increasing from generation to generation)
So the new Sensor will be better in every way, no matter if it has 12, 16, 24 or 28 MP
Nah, a 24MP sensor with the same per pixel performance as the current sensor is definitely possible. The base sensor in the X cameras is about four years old and there have been many improvements since then. BSI or stacked sensor tech and improved fabrication processes will allow for a higher resolution sensor with the same per-pixel performance.
Release the new sensor. It’s not 2012 anymore.
@mikeswitz see what I was telling you on the other thread ?
I did and it doesn’t change my stance. Unless they’re turning into Canikon I refuse to believe that A) they don’t have a new sensor yet and/or B) that they’ll somehow get one this summer and then release what will essentially be a beta version in Sept. Meanwhile, it’s possible that while their engineering is going well that their business plan didn’t account for such success. So, at this point, I don’t care what they throw into the marketing scheme, I want a new sensor and less marketing fluff.
I do, but I understand both points of view. On the one hand it is rather pointless to keep saying I want a new sensor, and on the other saying how good the current sensor is. Its about time someone from Fuji quit playing a marketing game and step up and start being honest with Fuji loyalists.
Sounds to me as just another camera with the improvements one can expect from a three years gestation. But βjust anotherβ cameras do not sell anymore, even if they are of very high quality. I think by year’s end we’ll have some announcement capable to bring attention to the industry, which at the moment is lacking. It will not be 24 versus 16 MP, or a stop more of shutter speed. Something must be boiling somewhere, it simply has escaped rumors.
Fuji dropping their sensor technology would be a bit embarrassing, after all the praise they’ve being doing throughout the years about it.
Rather it be a little embarrassing then for them to continue this IF they are unable to improve the situation. As it stands the benefit (or lack there of) is not worth the problems.
And what is the benefit anyway, is it resolution? No it is not, even with the better converters it struggles to get near the detail you get with a bayer sensor without OLPFilter. And most of the converters show way too much FALSE detail. So is it High Iso? Well, when you manage to get the detail out you also get regular noise, while already having to compensate for the iso sensitivity loss of the sensor .. so not really, not enough at least.
Is it moire then? Well that too is problematic, get all the detail out including false detail and still a little moire, or lose some detail along with the moire. So you really can’t get it right with this tech. I’d rather deal with some occasional moire manually but have near-perfect detail with full support from EVERY raw software of my choice, than to drag along the xtrans drama just to avoid admitting it didn’t work out .. it’s fine, it happens, just fix it.
Who knows maybe the next generation would be better, but i doubt it can be fixed with hardware, as aside from the in-camera processor, what happens with the Raw data after being captured is not in Fuji’s control.
Great news…
I am hoping Panasonic releases a camera with the organic sensor (which they are rumored to do soon) so that we can expect the same from Fuji. If so, the X-Pro 2 will be very interesting.
A new great skill for futur cameras would be the capability to record raw video files.
Once reassured on the reliability of the X series (my X-T1 stoped working in the middle of a trip in Cambodia), I could drop my Canon 5D Mark II and use Fuji cameras for all my works.
Patrick, is it possible that X-Pro2 will have yet an organic sensor? It is said Panasonic will bring late this year new camera with organic sensor. Your OS source says “Non organic ASP-C X-Trans sensor” for X-Pro2… I wonder if Fujifilm is going to put old X-Trans II to X-Pro2 and keep organic sensor for X-T2 ???
IIRC, it’s mirrorlessrumors that said it won’t be organic (Other Sites, OS). For now, none of my own sources confirmed or excluded that it will feature an organic sensor. So this option is still on the table.
Here’s what you can be sure of: if Panasonic unveils a new camera with an organic “geomembrane” sensor in the next few months, then the X-Pro II will unequivocally have an organic sensor.
Where is mrs. Ibis ?
Question: is there way at all that the XPro2 could improve on the sync speed for flash? Like 1/4000 or so, even without a leaf shutter?
A few leaf shutter lenses would be pretty awesome: 23mm, 35mm, 56mm please! Fast and weather sealed too
Not really, the physics of flash duration and a focal plane shutter don’t allow for faster syncs, otherwise many cameras would have done it by now.
to the website owner: did you know that when you hit the rumors icon it gets you to the deals page?
Any X-E3 rumors? Just give me IBIS and spot metering coupled with focus box and I’m happy.
I see the rumors, when I click on the rumor section
Maybe you get confused because of the rumor about a deal that is supposed to start on April 12. You might have read about a deal, but in fact it’s a rumor about an upcoming deal
What about the wi-fi connectivity? Have they improved it?
Will this be a truly ground-breaking, connected, customizable camera for the year 2015?
If not, I think that it is doomed to the same small niche as the original X-Pro1.
The rest of us are happily shooting our Fujis and other cameras that still work just fine.
Are Fuji serious about growing their market share or are they just screwing around?
Well I really hope the X-Pro2 is doomed for that same niche as the XP1! Let it just be the best Fuji cam for stills, not the one with most features. And please Fuji, leave the 4K video and flippy screens out. Those are great features for other Fuji cameras.
1/8000 top speed means faster X-sync speed. While it’s possible to have a 1/320 X-sync, I doubt that Fuji will go for it. Most likely we’ll see the industry standard 1/250.
I already have no problem firing a manual flash at 1/250 on my X-Pro1, only at 1/320 does it show the shadows at the bottom, so I’ve always wondered why the official sync speed is slower.
Your manual flash must have a relatively long duration.
I use a YN560iii, but admittedly I probably don’t use flash often enough to notice if it was cutting out some of the light.
YN560III, from my experience, has an admirably short impulse, so probably you just haven’t noticed the “black bar”.
BTW, there’s a fun workaround if you use the flash as a fill light outdoors: just flip the camera. The “black bar” will be invisible against the sky π
will love definitely get one is it has ibis
Looking forward to this beauty…
If they give us the ability to convert the files to 16-bit TIFF using the in-camera converter, I will be very happy. 1/8000ths of a second shutter speed, a brighter, larger OVF/EVF, and greater dynamic range and resolution, and it will be a gem.
Fuji, if u r listening, pls give us 5-axis IBIS as good as Olympus’. As age catching up, my hands are less steady than they used to be. Thanks!
Here we go again. People specing up versus a camera being not very high on Fuji’s priority list anyhow.
1/8000 doesn’t mean anything unless it brings with it a faster sync speed. There isn’t a single situation in the world where 1/4000 won’t cut it but 1/8000 magically will, but even just an extra third of a stop for sync speed can make a huge difference for anyone shooting with flash.
Get us a solid 1/250 syncβnot one of those sketchy “actually it’s more like 1/225th” syncsβand give better tethered shooting support and you’ll finally have a Fuji camera that’s really on par in the studio with your typical DSLRs and medium formats.
I have been using an X Pro 1 as a second (lighter) camera when covering demonstrations. My first camera on these occasions is a Canon 1Dx with 70-200mm on it to get close ups — but that’s around 2.5kg. I also need to get wider shots without having to fiddle and change lenses in often dusty or wet conditions. But without going on a body building course, my only option is the X Pro 1 with the 18-55mm attached which produces great results. I find this a great combination for what I need. However, the Fuji is beginning to show signs of ageing, so I am looking forward to seeing what the XPro 2 will have to offer. Yes, Fuji is making us wait, but hopefully this will mean that there will not be an X Pro 2 S a year later. … and if it is as good as I think it might be it could well become my camera of choice on many occasions.
One plea to Fuji. Please give me a camera which is optimised for photographs, not video, and one without sexy but relatively useless bells and whistles (e.g. tilting screen) but with good wi-fi .
