  1. I dearly hope that you can change the af field with the four way controller while looking through the viewfinder without the need of the AF button. the Af button position is currently the biggest flaw of the x100 and xpro1

  2. Wow…..Its really nice!

I wonder if the flash can bounce like the pana GX-1?

Between this and the NEX6…..That is going to be a SUPER hard choice, now that the NEX system will soon have a 35mm lens.

If the AF is up to snuff to atleast NEX cameras this will sell well. Fuji is doing a great job!

  3. After the initial excitement one can see that this is an ergonomical nightmare. While understandably there is no grip in front and less understandably the top right-hand side is horribly cluttered, with only a tiny shutter button, then at least one would expect a convenient finger resting space in the rear top right-hand corner – but if you look carefully it is not there. You will end up either inadvertently pushing the AE/AF-L or Q button or setting that cog wheel in motion and change the relevant setting when you don’t need it changed.

    1. Almost all Sony lenses are made in China or Philippines. When my friend bought his 16mm the front ring came off after only 2 weeks (just cheaply glued to the plastic lens).

Too bad, Sony bodies are starting to look serious but their lenses are still laugh stock.

    2. Hopefully my thumb is small enough to sit between the wheel and the 4-way control buttons. Otherwise there is an accessory called “thumb rest” that should addresses your concern.

      1. We’ll have to see. It looks pretty similar to the X100, which i find quite a good camera in terms of handling…

    3. A cheap hotshoe thumbrest takes care of the “ergonomic nightmare” – though I found the ergo’s of the X100 fine – it was just the AF/MF and lag in the EVF that drove me nuts. The Xpro1 is no better in that regard. I passed on the Xpro1 because I really didn’t like the hybrid VF, I would prefer a high rez EVF.

If Fuji is using the same EVF from its other cameras instead of something with higher resolution and faster refresh – like Sony’s – along with painfully slow AF and endlessly spinning the focus ring manually focusing, this camera is of no interest to me. Love the IQ, hate the usability.

Fuji is getting close to getting me to buy into the X system, but not just yet.

    4. I don’t think its fair till the person who is interested in purchasing actually holds the device. Statments such as yours are irresponsible and can impact business creating fear from a problem the MAY not exist for some users. I was super concerned about the x100 and it has become my fav held camera.

    1. +1 absolutely!

When put side by side with the current Pen (or Pany GX/GF) this is obvious choice. I’m already heavily invested in Oly/Pana M43 lenses, but if I was starting from scratch this would be perfect.

just hope the next batch of Pens due next month fixes the missing EVF issue and adds in a decent sensor from Sony to justify my original backing of the M43 system. If not, going to be gutted and hankering after this Fuji.

      1. I have m43 gear, but i’m not heavily invested (yet). Although the m43 concept is great, my experience has been a mixed bag. Both of my m43 cameras (GF1 and GH2) have very little room for highlight recovery, the color almost always looks unnatural (so lots of lightroom massage is always in order) and, honestly, the size sometimes is too small to handle them properly. I found myself pressing buttons just by holding the cameras, which is plain wrong.

If they sort out the AF and firmware problems, I believe Fuji has a winner, and I could see myself quickly migrating to the X-E1. They have the lenses I want. They have the body size and controls I want. They have a big sensor in there – these are photographer’s cameras, no doubt.

    1. Did you base your comparison on the mount size? It looks wrong to me because I think the lower part of the body is exactly the same as on the X-pro, they only changed the upper part (the non-black one). I hope I’m wrong though cause I think X-pro is too big!

  4. I am curious about the flash hotshoe. None of the Fuji X-Pr users I come across ever use a flash.

It does make the camera look good though.

    1. Yes it’s based on the mount size as its the one thing guaranteed to be the same size on both. (sorry clicked wrong reply link >_<;)

  5. I like it, but the EVF and AF are going to have to be hugely improved over the X-Pro 1’s or it won’t be very persuasive.

  6. I bet it is below $1000. Beause it uses the same bad EVF.
You just know tgere will be something. Its Fuji, guys!

    🙂
But i want it to be perfect. I love the way it looks!:-)

    1. Hahah, exactly. This is Fuji after all. We’ll see. The third iteration should be the right one. So I have high hopes.

  7. Looks like one sweat camera to me:
    – Very good IQ – check
    – EVF – check
    – Built-in Flash – check
    – Knobs and buttons – check
    – Not overly sized – check
    – Some good glass available – check

    What will be price be?

  8. i don´t need to change lenses on such a camera.

why not make such a nice camera with a fixed lens for less money?

  9. The best thing about these fuji cameras is the manual controls, and when you fire off that shutter, it takes a photo no matter what – just like a real deal film camera. It took a good decade or so for digital cameras to get back to photography basics (not including Lieca), though finally here we are thanks to Fuji.

  10. May I offer my opinion? These arn’t casual leaks, fuji is giving these rumors and leaks (so perfects and precise) because they aren’t ready for phototokina and don’t want to lose costumers! They are “presenting” their product so you’ll wait to buy the new sonys and mft! Very nice move!
    (sorry for my bad english)

    1. Fuji Officially leaked the X100 long before it was ready, trickling out bits of information to keep buyers interested and then had major supply shortages when introduced (and a few months after). If they were not ready, they will likely still show the camera at Photokina with a launch sometimes after. Though there isn’t anything particularly ‘new’ with this camera, so there shouldn’t be any real reason for delays. Yes they might be Fuji’s photos, but I don’t think this is their leak somehow.
