It’s not a surprise that current mirrorless stuff is getting discounted right before the Photokina showdown. The Nikon V1 got massive price drops on all kits (Check here at Amazon). And so the Sony NEX-5N (Check here). The Sony NEX-5R is going to be announced this week (Wednesday?) while the Nikon V2 could be announced right before Photokina.

I’m surprised that new camera bodies are on the way without a single addition to the system itself, unless you count the slimmer standard zoom lens, which I think was purely a response to competition. I owned a V1 for a while and it’s a great system, but if Nikon don’t take it seriously I’m not sure anybody else will. I filled out an exhaustive survey for them on the 1 system earlier this year. I got the impression from the survey questions that they were confused about who was buying the 1 system and why. No doubt they are crunching the results of that, but we’ve been spoilt as consumers and expect a bit more transparency and roadmap information in exchange for out loyalty. My V1 review is here: http://gallery.bedemccarthy.com/blog/2012/4/nikon-v1-review
i wonder if it will be uglier than the v1
Still not worth it; would rather buy a G3/G5 than a V1.
I agree.

MFT has bigger sensors, better glas and not least much better ergonomics and usability.
V1 with this price tag … Give it a stabilized sensor, a couple of fixed pancakes… Eq of 24(28) 35, 50 and 90 and a bit better controls+ android and you have a perfect camera for photobloggers. Use the advantage ober m43 in video and focus system till it can catch up…
