Crazy low price!
Remember, can’t be used for portraits, it doesn’t have a vertical orientation sensor!
Are you simply trolling or are you really that dense?
It really doesn’t have a vertical orientation sensor. Try it, your portraits will all come out sideways.
Sure, but then you can rotate them manually. Or you can rotate the whole monitor, most modern ones do have a rotating support.
Rotate manually? I am trying to buy a camera not bake a cake. This feature has been standard on digital cameras for the last 10 years, is there a good reason why Olympus omitted it?
Probably they were thinking that at least some users would have enough brains to be able to press a couple of buttons and rotate the pics without MOMMY helping them.
If your mom is really that helpful with photos, would you mind sending her over?
Lol
Just tell your friends to turn their heads sideways.
You could always spend the $199.99 on an artist to do a portrait.
Joking or trolling, hard to tell.
“Note that the lens alone is worth $179”
Shouldn’t that be ‘Note that the lens alone costs $179 at …’?
It’s impossible to sell the kit lens for that kind of money.
Yes, I think it’s worth about $100 at BH (they buy your gently used stuff).
well as you can read everywhere.. mirrorless is not selling well.
i guess they sit on a sh*tload of old cameras and now they are soon 3 generations old.
olympus is barely making any profit with cameras.
although its a great price, its still old hardware.old kitlens too.
That is definitely cheap. I picked up the E-P3 for $299 a few months ago. The sensor is old but I rarely shoot above ISO 800, approximately 1% of the time. The sensor has noise even in low ISO, but it shouldn’t bother anyone except anal pixel peepers who think they are god-handed photographers
I bought this camera for my wife 18 months ago for three times that price (with two lenses).
It still serves her well, and it is a fun camera to carry around, but I would not buy it now (November 2013).
Especially considering that where I live (Tokyo) the Olympus epm2 with the same lens costs LESS.
No kidding: price aggregator kakaku dot com shows 25.800 yen circa for the epm2 and 28.800 for the epl3 with the same lens. Sure the epl3 has few more manual controls, but overall the better sensor in the epm2 is a far better offering.
All in all, I still don’t get Olympus’ price strategy…
This is what happens when you overprice technology. It will sit and sit and sit, and eventually you have to blow it out. I’ll bet this still won’t sell.
Olympus, price it right and you’ll sell everyone you make.
