    1. $499 and it’ll outperform every advanced compact camera in that price range.

Also it’s been in stock stateside in photo specialty retailers for over two weeks.

    2. Agree. Makes much more sense just to buy any of the originals 5 series for the same price, or a 3 for even less.

The usability of this thing sucks anyways. The LCD is low res, you can’t attach an EVF (which was even possible with a F3), the touchscreen is resistive (vs capacitive in the 5n) etc.
The only good thing about this is that it’s got the new menus. The 4 added MP will be irrelevant for every real application.

It’s just so annoying to see them deliberate crippling stuff. Same for the A6000. No touchscreen, totally retarded dial placement (seriously, why is your thumb on the mode dial all the time), still no PC tethering etc…
If they would actually stop this holding-back game I might consider buying latest gen (A6k with tri-navi, touch screen and A7 EVF for 2-300$ would have been perfect) but with the current strategy I’ll just get 1-2 gens older stuff because the prices aren’t justified imo.

      1. Just to keep things fair, most if not all camera manufacturers “cripple” their products, Sony isn’t the only one. I don’t agree with it but alas, it happens. For me, it’s really just the lack of the tri-nav that keeps me from seriously considering the A6000. While I’d miss looking through the, what should be Sony’s standard EVF on all current models, if I’m going to upgrade from my 5n, I’d be most interested in more physical controls. Having a weather-sealed A6000 with the tri-nav would be a worthy upgrade for me.

        1. No by saying that you’re spreading unfairness (:P) because most reputable manufacturers don’t omit features from an established line on such a regular basis as Sony does. For instance even though the price and everything is ridiculous, you can count on the iPhone 8 being better than the iPhone 7 (probably it’s even thinner, longer, faster, more retina etc.) while retaining all the positive features of the iPhone 7.
Sony on the other hand does not consistently improve producs: NEX 3 series, A5x series, most high end VAIOs, etc. Actually, there was even a time when most Sony ILCs could be tethered to PC and shot with lossless RAW. Bashing Sony for such decisions is just fair imo.

  1. At BH they sell it same price with lens included as at Adorama without lens. I find Adorama’s policy to sell same item at different prices disgusting, also their bundles are high priced, you pay for what you get, their is seldom any advantage to buy there bundles. They should update their Internet site and change the prices on all offered units when a price drops, and not keep some at the old price and some at the new price. It is confusing to find then one same camera at 3 or 4 different prices.
