The elusive (and “phenomenal”) XF56mm f/1.2 in stock at BestBuy!

 photo as_zps63964a92.png

Today Andrew Warren Wilson contacted me on my facebook page and said: “Hey Patrick, I recently acquired a 56mm and have done a few commercial shoots as of late. It’s a phenomenal lens. Probably the sharpest I’ve ever owned. The sharpness at 1.2 is stellar. This goes for any opening (that I tried)! The Bokeh is dreamy. I can’t get enough of its build and clarity and sharpness. My only grip is blemishes. I have to do a ton of post processing to clean up the detail that this lens picks up. Included are a few images. Feel free to include a link to my site for more examples! (the site does include some NSFW images)”

The XF56mm f/1.2 is very hard to find in stock at the moment. But BestBuy has a limited number available here.

  1. Tip: If you want a 56, don’t just monitor the online sites; check your local camera retailer (if you’re lucky enough still to have one.) I was at my hometown camera shop last Saturday and had the following conversation:

ME: “The Fuji lens that interests me is the 56… but you probably aren’t able to get those, right?”
DEALER: “Actually we’ve got a couple in right now. Want to see one?”
So I did, and I bought it. Same price as online, too, plus instant delivery.

In the USA, at least, Fuji apparently is trying to spread the love and make sure traditional camera shops get some stock. (The same store has XT-1s on the shelf, and my guy said it’s usually not hard to get any other Fuji items that customers want.)

  2. I bought one from dzone2 last week, their price was at the time 999$, they got one left in stock. It was sent from Hong Kong to Sweden in 3 days! (yes that’s right). About 300$ cheaper than order one within Sweden aswell, so this was a great deal for me. The lens is awesome btw.

  3. I got my 56 a while back from my local(ish) camera store. It’s just about the best lens I’ve ever owned. Since then however, it seems that Fuji UK aren’t too keen on supporting small independent stores and focusing mainly on the big online outlets. I always try and support independent stores because of the advice and hands on experience they offer. It’ll be sad if they totally disappear aided by the manufacturers only wanting to deal with big outlets. According to my local dealer Nikon and Olympus are very actively behind small outlets, which really surprised me about Nikon.
