Samyang said it on November 18th here: all their existing lenses will have X Mount in future… and now it begins!
You can now purchase the Samyang 85mm f/1.4 for $299 at BHphoto here and the Samyang 14mm f/2.8 for $399 here. You can find the 85 also at AmazonUS for $399 (Rokinon 85 f/1.4 here) and the 14mm for $499 (Rokinon 14 f/2.8).
For a review about the Samyang/Rokinon 14mm check out davedillonphoto here: “The Rokinon 14mm f2.8 ED AS IF UMC lens is flat out impressive at its price point of $399 USD. Its built well, fun to use, sharp as hell, and produces some really fantastic images when used correctly. That being said, the [shoplink 12888]Fuji XF 14mm F2.8[/shoplink] will most definitely produce nicer images with less distortion and vignette. However, it’s more than double the price!”

How do non-chipped lenses work on the Fuji system? Is it like cheaper Nikons where there is only manual exposure or do you input the lens parameters and the camera functions normally?
Auto exposure in A, M, no AF.
In M with Auto-ISO enabled of course.
If so, it would be awesome. Where do you find the info? For landscape, an 8mm would be nice cheap option.
For example here:
You just insert the data into the menu and enable the “shoot without lens” option then you can happily use it in aperture priority mode.

thanks Deng, that helps!
There is auto exposure on Nikon with non-chipped lenses, except on the D3x00, D5x00. The D7x00 can auto expose in aperture priority mode, as well as all the pro bodies. You do have to program the lens in the camera and manually select it from the menu before shooting.
The 85mm 1.4 is an excellent lens for the price. My favorite Samyang.
The samyang / Rokinon 14mm is a great lens. I had the chance to do a quick review on this lens. You can see my full review on my site here:

Shot a lot on both Samyangs 85 and 14 via PentaxK to FujiX adapter. Both lenses are very good, or just awesome consedering their prices. X-E1 auto exposure works as on normal fujinon lenses. Focusing is easy with peaking+magnofication(in very low light conditions one can focus manually even faster than dslr with prime on it(it’s on 85, ‘cos on 14 it’s extre, ely hard to get something out of focus;-] )). A great deal for money!
I’ve shot with the 85mm on my Pentax k-5 and adapted it on my Fujifilm X-M1 as well. On my k-5, the lens is well balanced and the body built-in SR helps reduce camera shake. I struggled with it on my X-M1 and so I sold it. The new Samyang 85mm looks like the same lens as the DSLR version, with the same weight and size. I was hoping they could create a new version like what they did with the 8mm f2.8 (which I have and is absolutely fantastic) to make it smaller and lighter to fit the mirrorless philosophy.
Oh it is heavy full frame DSLR lens. And yes – they chose an easy way and just added an adapter on it.
But I can’t understand the talks about ‘balance’. It’s a heavy lens, but there are lots of heavy lens on each system. When lens is heavy one should hold the lens, not the camera and 1/125 will be enough to forget about any camera shake. But maybe(probably) it’s due to having a viewfinder.
Fujifilm.ca is bundling the $250 battery grip with the X-T1 for C$ 1299. Guess we Canadian have bought a disproportionate number of X cameras–thanks Fuji!
Great lenses for SLR crowd… I was hoping they would design smaller mirrorless versions like they did with 8mm rather than just slapping an adapter at the back of the lens.
This lens will be amazing on the XT1 with the big viewfinder and the manual focus assists.
Would be nice if they came out with a very affordable 1:1 macro for X-mount…
It can be a pain in the ass to get the focus right with the Samyang 300mm. Lack of AF and no stabilization.
I guess the 85mm is less pain simply due to the shorter focal distance. Has anybody experience with this lens?
hope samyang can make some new lenses for mirrorless cameras (APSC or m4/3)
these lenses are a bit too big
I’ve been eying this lens – I don’t think I would ever buy it in fuji mount though unless I only ever planned on using fuji bodies exclusively. Getting it in Nikon mount seems like the best idea since you then have the most space to place with for using adapters for other systems. I.e., I can get a Nikon to Fuji adapter and a Nikon to Canon FD adapter if I want to use it on my film camera and it is a full frame lens so it should work well in both situations – and of course could use it on nikons. Since it is a fully manual lens to start with I don’t really see any downsides. Maybe I’m missing something.
