It’s coming! XF 10-24mm announcement leaked at Photography Monthly (now removed)!

 photo 10-24_zps425c2762.png

For a very short time the entire press-release of the XF10-24 was online at photographymonthly. The bad news: I was at work so I wasn’t able to read it. All that remains are a few lines at the news-reader silobreaker.com. Anyway, a leaked press-release is a strong indicator of the fact that an official announcement is imminent!

I can’t tell you when exactly it will be announced… all I can say is that I’ll be there, ready to do some live blogging for you!

Follow Fujirumors on  facebook and twitter and you won’t miss the announcement.

thanks to the FR-reader who send me the link to silobreaker.com!

stay tuned,

      1. Rico, just wanted to say that your sarcasm is amongst the main reasons for visiting this site :). Keep it coming 🙂

      1. From camerapro (oz stock) not their fault fuji has had trouble with the xe2 and 18-55 kit supply in Oz confirmed with other retailers. Very disappointed that I won’t have it for xmas, contemplating cancellation of order and buying a new canon lens instead.

    1. I told him the exact time when Fuji is going to officially post the press release, so he won’t have to stay up all night till X-mas.
      Yes, I am that nice!

But I didn’t give him the press release.
      Yes, I am that evil!

    2. good question… the alarm clock will ring every hour this night(s)! So, I won’t really sleep until it’s out :).

    1. I think they know the official/formal press release date, not the actual lens release date.
And the press release date is not hard to guess: likely the first date of CES 2014 ? 🙂

    1. That’s exactly what I’m wondering too.
I don’t care if it’s the Fujica or the xpro 1s but it must be weather sealed and I need this 10-24 f4 to be sealed as well because I want to use it as my high IQ yet relatively light weight landscape and long exposure camera and for most other stuff my happy with my Olympus em1 for its speed, af and IQ.
I need fuji to give me a weather sealed body and a weather sealed UWA lens, a fast lag free evf, more improved af and I’d love to see in built body IS and I’m sold but I don’t see myself going further beyond my x-e1 and 18-55+35 if Fuji can’t cater for the needs of those who need a sealed and protected body a lenses.

  1. Many years ago, when I was shooting Canon, my main “reception” lens when shooting events was a 16-35/2.8L. It was phenomenal, especially AF speed!
Then I switched to Nikon, and found that I don’t like Nikon’s 16-35 offerings at all. Especially the f/4 VR version.

Very curious to see what Fuji brings to the table.

  2. so exciting, if i go to tokyo for holiday, i will pick one up without waiting for review. which i normally do. i need a ultra wide.

  3. If it is as sharp as the 14mm, then I will get it. Otherwise, I will get the 14mm. Been waiting patiently, using my EF-S 10-22mm. However, it is time to replace it with either the 14mm or the 10-24mm. It will be hard to beat the 14mm, but I am still curious.

    1. ver·sa·tile
      adj.

      1. Capable of doing many things competently.
      2. Having varied uses or serving many functions: “The most versatile of vegetables is the tomato” (Craig Claiborne).
      3. Variable or inconstant; changeable: a versatile temperament.
      4. (Biology) Capable of moving freely in all directions, as the antenna of an insect, the toe of an owl, or the loosely attached anther of a flower.

[Latin versatilis, from versatus, past participle of versare, to turn]

      1. Yeah, I mean, let’s assume one already has an 18-55mm kit lens. Then you’re really getting an extra range of 10-18mm, and then one may as well go with the 14mm so as not to pay for the 18-24 part of the lens that you don’t necessarily need. Of course, 10mm is great for small rooms, large buildings, or majestic landscapes, I suppose.

        1. When you’re shooting in the crowd, oftentimes you just can’t “zoom out by walking away”, so every millimeter in the zoom range matters.

  4. Hem, I understand what you are asking, and hopefully, one of the members can answer your question. It will obviously be a little more versatile, but with what sacrifices (if any).

    1. Perhaps sharpness and more distortion than the 14mm, as zooms are typically not as good as primes at any specific focal length. The 14mm is one of the highest-quality ultra-wide angle lenses, as it is very sharp with little distortion. That said, if the 10-24mm is optically nearly as good, or as good as, the 14mm, it will be more versatile with respect to focal lengths.

  5. When I saw the headline I jumped off the couch! I can’t wait for this lens. I hope it’s as good as the 14mm. I’ve been waiting for this lens, and the plethora of tests/reviews before deciding, but I REALLY would love to own this puppy.

  6. Hi, i am x100 user and this week i received my xe1 an 14 mm lens. Body and Lens firmware are the latest version but autofocus function does not work. i use the button in the front face to pass from the MF to AF . Could you help me?
