New Kipon adapter allows full electronic control of Canon EOS lenses on the NEX cameras.

The image I posted here on top may not look that professional but what you see really works 🙂

This is the new Kipon EOS to NEX adapter that will allow full electronic control of the Canon EOS EF lenses on your NEX. Almost like you can do on the new Canon EOS-M camera.

“Manual” Kipon adapters for NEX can be found on [shoplink 5559 ebay]eBay (Click here)[/shoplink].

    1. Tere is also a LA-EA1, isn’t it? Don’t know how well it works without PD but it’s a half-price of the “2”. For lenses with SAM and SSM it might be enough…

  1. It’s traditional to try to minimise internal reflections by blacking and covering shiny components, but what the hell! They’re only Canon lenses!

    1. They announced a new lens yesterday. They’re also announcing some new video camera on Thursday. The countdown on Sony’s website says 3 hours to go until the announcement.

        1. I just checked and the countdown is already gone. It looks like a new Pro camera. Kind of obvious since it was on a Professional specific page of their site. Anyways, probably not news for the masses.

    1. +1 Yeah, I’d like to know this, too. Is this more functional than the Metabones version that has electronic aperture control? i.e. AF control, too? Or is it the same basic thing?

    1. It IS rationally possible for CDAF focusing. You just need a small circuitboard with an ASIC that’ll convert the signal from camera to lens. It’s not that difficult to make work. The difficulty is in making it work well. Without optimization, the lens can well hunt for an infinite amount of time.

        1. The previous adapters provided manual aperture control only. These new adapters, like the Metabones, provide electronic aperture control through the camera interface.

  2. As Steve referred to, Metabones already has this capability. Curious the difference. (Just yesterday sent Metabones preorder paypal for my Canon adapter.) Good to see multiple vendors in this space (just hope there’s no intellectual property theft/wars) and ditto on getting a Nikon adapter. Too bad most/all lenses nowadays have no manual aperture control on-lens.
