These really are ridiculous deals. It’s gotta be wrecking havoc on the used gear market. These prices are lower than the used gear I see for sale. Doesn’t Fuji run these specials every other month? Seems like X-Pro 2 is imminent.
I am going to visit the US next week and I just need two lenses (18mm and 35mm). I own an X-E1 already. So, is anyone interested in an X-Pro1 or X-E1 body in NYC? 🙂
I’m thinking to buy an X-E1 in a few weeks as I have to go to the US soon. It seems like an awesome deal! I’m new to this world and I this is going to be my first “pro” camera. I have been reading a lot and I don’t believe we are going to see a replacement for this camera soon.
This model is only around 9 months old. Perhaps the XPro 2 is going to be announced at the end of the year and the E2 mid 2014? Not sure, but in my case I think I should check what’s here first and not wait for something that could be here in 6 months and is not going to be that much different.
What do you guys think, should I go for another lens besides the 18-55 in the beginning? Or should I first use the kit lens for some time and then buy another one once I get an idea on how to use the camera?

Depends on what you’re shooting and how much experience with lenses you have. If you’ve been using a compact camera with zoom lens so far, I’d suggest a prime lens – not using a zoom lens was a big factor in improving my own photography. Limitations spark creativity.
If you just want to snap more or less everything, one of the zoom lenses would be ok I guess.

i already own a silver x-e1 with kit and 35mm…so i’m selling my x-e1 BODY ONLY with some cosmetic wear for $700. purchased in Jan 2013 via amazon, so there is still 7months of 1yr manufacturers warranty left PLUS 3 full years of drops and spills square trade extended warranty…box and all accessories included…
there is nothing wrong with sensor or screen or EVF…just some wear on the silver finish because my dumb ass was using a strap with metal clasp things…doh!
anyway…since i like to travel a lot…i wanted it too look a little beat up anyway…
always wanted the x-pro but could not justify its price tag at the time i bought the x-e1…so, obviously the price is now right and should part with my current love…

i think the x-pro was still around $1700 without the latest firmware at the time i bough tthe x-e1
i like the optical view finder…plus i feel i made the mistake of getting all silver on the x-e1…it draws too much attention…
unless you want silver…and a tiny bit smaller and lighter camera…get the x-e1…they are pretty much identical other than the optical viewfinder…
I have to say that i’m feeling pretty bad about these deals. Owner from day one of the xpro 1 with all lenses so far, it is a SHAME for Fuji to do that.
I might sell my gear, cheap of course… i love this camera, few deceptions for sure (the raw for one f*****g year, the AF, etc) but in general, love the feeling and the dynamic range, but we work hard for Fuji, we are committed to this brand, it’s bold to work with that system, even if it’s my choice, even if i knew the limits of the first model, it’s time to fuji to make a real move with the pros. Where are we going with these deals?

Still an amazing camera, and good lenses, but seriously, who can accept to loose more than a half of his investment in one year.
I can tell i’ll need soon an xpro 2, more lenses, and what? it’s gonna cost me 2000 box for the camera, and mine i’d rather keep it for the spare, cause more than 800 $ i can’t sell, and not for sure… It is an INSULT, PERIOD.
We are trapped, i’m not feeling good about this, pretty cool for the new buyers, and i don’t blame them, but i’m selling the mark II after 4 years, a higher price than my actual gear. Thanks fuji, i just ordered a 6D. It’s now IMPOSSIBLE, to sell the gear a normal price, 3500 Euros, and now i can say my x system cost 1500 Euros for the prestige edition.

there are two new cheaper cameras around the corner (a smaller X-E1 without viewfinder and a non X-Trans very cheap MILC), but, sadly, no X-PRO2.
Really? I thought they would release an xp2 with all the great changes of the x100 sooner than later.

Bemused, i was told that the mention PRO on the body mean it is a PROSUMER electronics. For the four primes i own, it seem pretty pro to me too.
Anyway, i sold the prestige edition, and the 14MM is going to.
