What’s coming the next months before Photokina: Just compact cameras and one MFT (Olympus E-PL7).

The rumors I got so far from trusted sources do not point to any more MFT camera announcement before Photokina other than the Olympus E-Pl7. It really looks like both Panasonic and Olympus are focusing their attention at Photokina in September.

That said I heard that both companies will announce some compact cameras within the next 1-2 months. Don’t know if that includes the rumored Olympus “TRIP-D“. It should be a digital fixed lens version of their popular [shoplink 35471 ebay]Olympus Trip 35 film cameras (on auction here on eBay)[/shoplink]. That would certainly be a hot camera release! Stay tuned!

  1. So then lets not waste words about boring stuff. What´s coming at Photokina? SonyAlphaRumors is so much more interesting with all of their rumors.

  2. Love to see new lenses at Photokina. 9 and 12 mm tilt shift from somebody? How about a full M43 re engineering of the Zuiko SHG series? 600mm?

    1. This late in the party without any remote rumors or leaks, if we are going to see any of those, it will be in the form of mock ups or road maps.

    2. Man, I wish they released some telephoto Zuiko lenses for M43. We’re sadly deficient over 75mm.

    1. Is the E-M10 also boring? Because the E-PL7 (allegedly) has the same specs, minus the EVF, and thus it will be priced even lower. That sounds quite attractive to me.

  3. Does Olympus realize that PL-7 will become immensely popular if only it has a pop up EVF and pop up flash like the RX100 MKIII? Drop the horse shoe and add wireless flash capability.

  4. Just give it up, Olympus, it’s hopeless. If people want a compact camera with a tiny sensor, they can either buy a point and shoot or use their mobile, instead of this bloated over priced, doomed system. Why would anyone want a pay full frame prices for a 4 times smaller sensor – that’s 4 times less light, which means 4 times poorer ISO (2 stops of pure fail), double to depth of field (another 2 stops of pure fail). But is mini 4 thirds 4 times cheaper? HeII no, it’s barely any cheaper than full frame. Mini 4 thirds’ sales, however, are tiny, just like its sensor!

    1. For equivalent images (same shutter speed, same DoF/FoV) you’d have to use HIGHER ISO on full frame, thus negating the 2-stop advantage. What about you giving up trolling.

    2. It’s no use. You can’t reason with tiny sensor trolls. Let them just prance around with their little toys, taking snapshots and playing photographers while we, the grown-ups, get down to some real full frame business.

      1. A good photographer can capture stunning images with any camera. Sensor size is not important.
Sounds to me like FullFrameForever is trying to make up for deficiencies in other areas. It’s not the size that counts, it’s what you do with it that matters 😉

      2. LOL if only you were a grown up. Why exactly do you do this FF worship thing? You must know It’s crazy right?
mFT systems are for those that don’t want to carry around too much bulk. Right?
You are more likely to leave a full frame camera at home when it’s a hassle carrying it about all the time. You can have mFT camera by your side with a couple of lenses every time you go out It’s all about portability not sensor size.
What is the point of having the very best of FF equipment if you are leaving it at home. My mFT camera makes it out the house 10 times more often than my FF camera. I hope this point finally hits it’s mark you see a bit thick headed.

    3. You must be the type of person who spends more time on the internet rather than actually using a camera and taking pictures. Photography isn’t just restricted to a full frame sensor. All those specs you mention mean nothing. A good picture is a good picture regardless if it’s taken with a phone, compact camera, Nikon CX, M4/3, GX1mk2, APS-C, FF, or medium format. Seriously, get out and shoot more.

      1. “Photography isn’t just restricted to a full frame sensor”
It is when the price is the same.

        1. So based on this rationale, full frame is a waste of time when I get a medium format Pentax 645D for less than a Canon 1dc. Not all great photos are taken on a FF sensor.

    4. Four aliases in this thread alone SD. Can’t sleep buddy?

I do chuckle when you agree with your other names. A bit Norman Batesy though.

    5. Lovely, see the nerds suffer and scream. There are two main nerd sorts: the complete fools who deny physics and the “real photographers” who can take pics with beer cans.
