So it’s real! Mitakon is now selling their first Lens Turbo Adapter with 0.72x Focal Reduce. It works exactly like the Speed Booster adapter from metabones but it costs a lot less. Plenty of [shoplink 38940 ebay]Lens Turbo auctions for NEX can be found here on eBay[/shoplink]. The official press release can be read at Mitakon’s website.
I asked Mitakon if and when they will make adapters for the MFT system. They told me they will release them the second half of this year! I still have no info about the supported lens mounts. But it’s great to have different options and a cheaper alternative.
P.S.: To automatically get notified when new Lens Turbo will be for sale on eBay just save this search in your Slidoo account.

A great option to Speed Booster, let’s see how good it is and get some good test’s on Speed Booster, a I’m yet to be convinced.
I’ll take Canon FD -> m4/3 even if it’s not perfect.
+1 First to make it gets my money. Even if the optics are not as good as Metabones.
I have never expected that for 200$ I’ll modify my cheap lenses into monsters 🙂
50mm/1.4 -> 36mm/1.0
28mm/2.8 -> 20mm/2.0
…
>I have never expected that for 200$ I’ll modify my cheap lenses into monsters.
Monster size yes. I can’t really see the point on a compact M4/3 body…
Umm…you do know these lenses require adaptors anyway, the boosters are the same size as the adapters?
As a video shooter with my GH3, I don’t care about compactness. It’s actually easier to shoot handlheld video with a kit that actually fills your hands. I’m sure other video shooters would appreciate this device as well.
For compacness I have pancakes.
For low-light: FD+LensTurbo (probably smaller then NOKTON-s).
FD lenses are quite small, so does the adapter.
I’d like to see some specifications first, the only information of the website relates to the NEX adapter, nothing as yet on u4/3 type, so we have to wait and see how it shapes up (I’m still working out the conversion figures that a u4/3 to 35mm should provide). What looks more interesting is the Mitakon 35mm.
Awesome, fingers crossed there is a Nikon F!
If the Nikon F has the same bayonet dimensions as the Ai, I see no reason why you should not be able to use your F lens, as it is purely a mechanical link between lens and body, no electronics with this.
So, what would this convert a Voigtlander 25mm f0.95 into?…
in nothing. this can only be applied to lens with a “SLR” flange distance. You can mount a native m4/3 lens on an adapter and mount this adapter on a m4/3 camera.
Normally, the thickness of adapter compensate exactly the difference of mount flange. In the case of the speed booster and lens turbo, the adapter can actually be less thick.
Besides the flange distance there is also the image circle. The adapter can only be used on lenses with image circle larger than 4/3 sensor. Typically all these older lenses were designed for 35 mm film, so even when the adapter concentrates the beams into smaller area they still cover the whole chip.
I hope they support OM -> mFT
Agreed
+1 some of the smallest 135 film lenses out there. Hope it’s one of the first.
I have an Olympus OM 135mm f2.8. Nice lens, but it’s no smaller than any other standard 135mm. Were some Oly OM primes smaller?
I’ve got an old AI-S Nikon 35-135mm f3.5-4.5 macro zoom that’s about the same size, but weighs a lot more.
These adaptors look interesting, but I’d concerned with image degradation. For me, that would outweigh any advantages they may have.
the Zuiko 135mm f/2.8 is a lovely lens. I suspect it’s also lighter than a lot of the comparable 135mms of it’s day. The Standard and WA Zuiko primes are very compact. The most common, the 50mm f/1.8 is very small for a 50mm. They were designed to match the compact OM bodies. If you can find/afford the Teles like the 100mm or the 90mm. M42 is the other mount that gives you all kinds of cheap and excellent choices …
+1000
the only I would be intrested in 200eur & manual handling…I am ok
I’d like an OM adapter that… um… reduces it by 1.0 ? (Would that be the correct number… can’t think straight atm).
So a 50mm OM lens… is 25mm mft aka 50mm equivalent. That would rock 😀
Yes OM to m4/3 please!!
I would like to see a tamron adaptall to m43 turbo. The glass is big but I have a lot of it and some was very good, in respect to speed and sharpness. Ha, sometimes both.
The Canon eos converter seems to be the optimal manual version to buy for M43 if one has a range of lenses. Almost any SLR and DSLR lens can be mounted on a m43 camera using an eos mount turbo adapter + the lens to eos adapter which costs peanuts for most on ebay. Of course if one has a box full of OM lenses then an OM adapter (or whatever one has a bucket full of) would reduce the possible errors of multiple adapters.
I am waiting to see some real life pix taken with these turbo and booster adapters. Not interested in Dxo or oxo whatever just real life pix,
the Mitakon site is currently only listing the Canon FD, which is the shortest adapter in their offer selection, so far …
You can just swap get an adaptall to Canon adaptor. You can find them at KEH.com, I think.
Rainbow Imaging sells an adaptall to M4/3 adaptor for $12.

I have 4/3 and m43 adaptal adapters, I was looking at using the turbo with the 3.5/70-210 AH lens or the 2.5/90
I just checked the Flange focal distance and so it would be best to buy the CANON FD mount and then simply buy generic adaptors, Canon to; OM, PK, M42, Contax, Leica R, Nikon, Minolta, etc. They are all longer than the FD and so only need the same cheap adapters as if you were using a FD mount body. Buy one lens booster and use different additional rings for various branded legacy glass ..
Good. Let’s hope that the quality is better than the NEX Lens Turbo ( which is a bit worse than the Speed Booster ).
The big advantage that Speed Booster holds is the tripod mount on the adapter. Really helpful when using something like an old 300mm on a small MFT camera.
You can also get standard adapters with a tripod mount: http://www.ebay.com/itm/120803519943?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
Is it sturdy enough? All too often something on eBay looks the same on paper but you can tell the difference if you look into it a little bit more closely.
is a .5 crop factor a possibility? (and the extra stop too?)
0.5 crop is possible but will create vignetting with most lenses om APS-C. Would work better on mFT, but a “stronger” converter will usually also mean more loss of quality.
i think that a 0.5x factor is better, i wish for it, because i want to use the lenses i have with their real focal distance, i have the Olympus OM 55mm f1.2 that i would like to test, so teoretically it would become a 50mm f0.8. If that 0.5x factor is not going to happen i think that i will build it myself with a 0.5x focal reducer for telescopes and some cheap adapters.
Metabones said no, the optical system needed would have to be larger than there was space inside such an adapter. (The 0.71x SpeedBooster is already limited as to the maximum aperture that will be preserved/boosted, which seems to be f/1.26, and probably that’s one of the issues which would become even more critical/limited if one would attempt to design a 0,5x reducer.)
There seems to be a “blue dot” issue mentioned by some NEX users, anyone knows more about this?
Looks like it’s an issue only with specific lenses at specific F-stops, and the few reports so far seem somehwat incongruous. It seems that the manufacturer is aware of the problem, he blames it on insufficient coating of the adapter’s rear lens, causing reflections between sensor and lens. From what I’ve read, it is or will be corrected, and one source said that existing adapters can be “repaired”, whatever they’ll be doing to it.
I’m still waiting for my sample (Minolta MD to NEX) which, according to tracking, has crossed borders to my country on Sunday and now is probably awaiting customs processing.
I cannot wait to buy this for MFT. I really hope that they support M42 Pentax screwmount, probably the most popular mount for old legacy lenses. I’ve got a bunch of them that would come to life again.
Yeah, I’ve got a couple of M42 screwmount Pentax SMC Takumars that I adapted and use with my GH2. The 50mm f1.4 is a wonderful lens!
Hi everyone. If you have a Nikon 50 mm lens without TurboLens it became 100 mm in your gh2, with Speed Booster or Turbo Lens you have to multiply 100 mm * .0.72 = and them you get 72 mm. With this new toy your Nikon 50 mm became 72 mm in your gh2 or gh3.
Wish it can be in market before the “speed booster” to prove that it is not an optical copy from the others.
For those interested, there is now a C Mount on M4/3 Facebook group you can join, cheers

So am I right in thinking this would be no good on my M43 GH3 with my panasonic 14mm pancake? (changing from a 28mm equiv to a 21mm?
