(FT5) Full E-PL7 specs.

These are the E-Pl7 specs which nicely almost match those of the current E-M10 camera. Exact announcement date is still not clear. But I am pretty sure it’s coming very soon 🙂

  1. I would have thought it would say Flashair and not EyeFi. Liking the new screen and higher flash sync. Hoping they have added control dials up top like in the picture already posted.

    1. Weird size and not full specs, seems fake to me as well. Granted, not hard to guess what it would be mind you. Only real questions weren’t added.

  2. The second part is fake i guess. The size is almost similar to em10 with the evf hump. It would be the biggest pen so far. Also the weight is higher.
I would welcome the 3:2 aspect ratio lcd (16:9 has no place in Olympus since they do not focus on video)

  3. “vari-angle lcd” – does it mean the usual vertical hinging or does it mean side-hinging? I do miss side-hinging, but have little hopes.

  4. Good afternoon dorks, pls start the usual discs on how splendid and innovative this is.

Those of you who don’t work for us: either whinge or praise, we don’t care, as long as there is talk.

The remaining 2 of you who know about photography: please shut up, we badly need to flog this new piece of plastic.

  5. I would think that the “complete” specs might mention what sort of image stabilization it has, at least in passing.

  6. These full specs seem to be full fake!
Not only because of dimensions and weight (copy of E-M10)

    1. The EM10 is very small and since the EPL7 will use a 3:2 aspect ratio LCD, instead of 16:9, it will need to be taller.

Whether the specs are fake or not, it looks rather uninspiring.

        1. And what would you say to the Sony RX100iii that is asking $800? Too much for that puny sensor as well?

          1. Yes. For you now: invest 20 USD in a “photography basics for teenagers” book. Quit forums, they don’t give good info anyway. Learn the basics. You might discover a great hobby.

        2. God, you’re so pathetic, you create fake accounts to up-vote and reply your own posts, how childish are you, just how much is CaNikOny Paying you ? must be a lot to spend all day in here, at least I hope it’s a lot becuase if you’re doing it for free you’re a complete imbecile.

  7. These are not full specs. The missing are:
    1) type of AF (CDAF only probably, but just in case they got smart and added OSPDAF)
    2) type (model number)/capacity of battery
    3) material of the body (the weight of 396g is E-M10, not E-PL7, E-PL5 is 325g for comparison)
    4) guide number of the included flash
    5) processor (TruePic VII probably, but in real specs it would have been mentioned)
    6) Tilting/articulating screen
    7) IBIS

So far it looks like subset of E-M10 specs, with forgotten viewfinder (but its weight and size is there).

    1. flash sync speed
fps in raw + buffer size
      list of manual controls
      interfaces to the outer world…

  8. This camera BETTER have a built in EVF, or it’ll be Dead on Arrival.

It’s bad enough that no one is buying anything from Olympus, unless is has OMD on the front of the camera. Thier Pen series is in the crapper, and now the want to do a lousy copy/paste job, from thier OMD line?

How many cameras that bomb, will it take for them to go belly up?

Honestly, the only camera they should’ve been working on is the successor to the EM5. Anything else would just be Inventory! Another bad move, Olympus.

    1. You should really lookup the term product differentiation it might enlighten your rather narrow minded view.

      1. Sorry but to me, putting the SAME GUTS in a Different body, is not enough “Differentiation” to me.

        1. Don’t you like freedom? Don’t you like choice? Do you love your country? I am joking, but the “vastness of choice” argument is a very common one, and totally pointless of course. You are going to get more of that.

We have the same guts everywhere, with some basic controls only thrown in in the premium versions. That is no “differentiation”, it’s more like a soviet system.

          1. How can the most widely varied system be somehow ¨soviet¨ ? Aren’t you talking about DSLRs where every f´ing camera looks the same as the next one ? just one monotonous and uniform black plastic blob with a hump, that’s what I would call sovietic. So, you find no differentiation between the GM1 and GH4 or between the PM2 and EM1 ? you trolls are nuts, you can’t come up with a single valid argument anymore. The PENs are subject to the free market, if there were no demand for them they simply wouldn’t be here anymore. There’s a reason why there isn’t just one body style and that because there’s isn’t just one type of consumer. Just because it’s not targeted at you doesn’t mean there’s no demand from other users.

          2. PENs are going to disappear soon, the “market” does not like them very much. I wouldn’t want one for free, myself. But there is a lot of “choice” between them LOL.

    2. I suspect that the sales volume of any given EP-L has so far thumped those of all OM-D grouped together. Death on Arrival? Seriously?

      1. By Olympus’ own admission, the OM-D cameras are their bestsellers. They sell reasonably well even in Europe and America, while PEN sales have been disappointing outside Japan.

    3. Do you even comprehend the concept of product segmentation !? Based on your logic every entry level DSLR user should be using a D4s or the like. Having a wide variety of body styles is THE greatest asset m4/3 has against other mirrorless systems, and here you are trying to kill a whole line of products? If the pens are not for you then so be it, be happy with your omd. BTW, up until recently the PL line was historically the biggest selling line for Olympus, no wonder they still update it, even if just cosmetically.

I do agree that the top PEN should have an EVF though, otherwise it WILL be DOA, you’re right at least on that, what you’re mistaken about is that the PL series is not meant to be the high end model so there’s no point complaining about the PL7 not having it.

    4. 1. Specs are incorrect
      2. Japan buy PENs
      3. Lots of people don’t want EVF if it saves them $300

    1. You pass yourself as a woman, then an engineer and now you use the name of two great people just to troll ? GET A F’ING LIFE !

  9. Hmmm, the exterior dimensions listed here are EXACTLY the same as those for the E-M10.

I would be interested in learning more about this camera’s control dials.

  10. What a stupid market move!
Same as E-M0, but without EVF.
It’s too expensive and too sophisticated for average amateurs, but too limited for advanced photographers.
I’m pretty happy with my E-M10.
This one will be a boat anchor.
No wonder Olympus have no profit.
No one buys such stupid solutions.
    Gimme somr more OM-DF stuff

    1. so, you love your EM10, and the rumoured EPL7, with same functionality but without EVF is stupid? The lack of EVF makes it stupid?

Sorry, but I don’t get it. I just spent a week taking photographs somewhere in the Mediterranean, in the middle of the day with full sunlight, with my PEN and without EVF and with my sunglasses on. While at times I needed to pay some attention, check things in a shady spot or so – overall it worked very well. Didn’t miss an EVF. My pictures were well exposed and in focus.

Now I would like to see an EVF on the PEN series – but it is not a dealbreaker to me.

    2. Just because this product is not targeted at you doesn’t make it unnecessary, there are more consumers than just you and not everyone likes the SLR form factor for many valid reasons, besides, all omd and pens have the same components inside them, they’re only differentiated by the ergonomics and each one is targeted at a different user. Next thing You’ll complain the E-PM3 won’t have a battery grip

  11. Four Thirds really is the worst sensor size. It’s not the smallest, but definitely the worst. And I’m not trolling here, just telling the truth.

    1. In what way Mr. Engineer is the m4/3 sensor the worst? Its DR and ISO performance is better than the FF 5D2, and equal to the Nikon D7000 so… I’m trying to figure out how its the worst? I guess if the comparison is a Nikon D4S vs. an m4/3 sensor than it is the worst, right? Because we all need to have that amount of fidelity to take great photos.

      1. Better than 5D2? LOL let me get rid of mine and buy some tiny blotchy toy. Whoops you lied, or you are plain stupid. Choose, funny teenage troll.

    2. I could’ve made a fake account under the name nuclear physicist and my opinions on the matter would still be worthless, just how many more fake accounts does it take for you to understand that we don’t give a fck about your opinions,

      1. You don’t even need any fake accounts, when you can post as a guest and create new names every time.

        1. That’s the stupid part, he still goes to the trouble. I guess it must be a Canikony policy that he makes it seems somehow credible

  12. lol are u men all so scrawny and weak that you need such a tiny camera? lol my boyfriend uses full frame all day, but then again he’s a real man..

    1. Looks like you are the same as your boy friend PP Girl….had to have those big fake breasts to over compensate when you real natural ones would have got the job done and actually had some sensation. I bet you are from the United States. 🙂

      1. That’s not a girl, it’s just some dude that trolls around the internet, go see his comment history.

          1. Why are YOU defending a troll, or is this just another one of your fake accounts ?

          2. Chill, there may be multiple trolls, after all, M43 is not exactly a popular system, and it has boombastic marketing. Dishonest would be the world, really. Can you accept there is more than one person making fun of your toy? That would be a first step. Second step: get rid of the toy.

    2. The teeny weeny sensor (for the price of a larger one) is good for the brick walls, so they are all in focus, and sharp into the corners! Oh wait there is no advantage to larger sensors, not even in one wants a lot of DOF…

      1. The only advantage of this teeny format is: if you always shoot static subjects stopped down, you can get away with a little less weight. You will still pay a hefty price and you will be crippled whenever you need more. Good for brick walls in the end.

    3. I’m a real man too. I free climb 1700 ft. high transmission towers for a living. I’ve got some huge balls, and it’s all full frame for me baby!

      1. No. You’re not.
REAL MEN do not talk juvenile snicker-snot. Your approach to manhood is on a pre-7th grade level and falls well below the maturity level of actual men.

    4. Dude, now you’re trying to makes us believe you’re a woman ? weren’t the other 20 fake accounts enough ? You’re so desperate for attention that now you resorted to such a pathetic tactic ? GTFO you’re worthless

          1. It’s never been civil: there have always been too many lies to begin with, which makes it hard to resist to come here and take the mickey.

    5. We are. We are almost like you. Youconsider yourself inferior. And as you already have a bf to your liking, why should we care in the firdt place?

      1. I’m sorry, I can’t hear you over my LENS SELECTION. You’ll have to speak louder and with more compelling arguments.
