I tell you, I was pretty surprised to see that Fujfilmi initially does not offer the 18-135 bundled with the [shoplink 21553]X-T1[/shoplink].

Apparently Fujifilm expects a high demand for this lens and therefore decided to deliver it first to those who already own an X-T1 (and patiently waited their weather resistant combo to be finally complete). I think the X-T1 with 18-135mm kit will follow as soon as Fujifilm fulfilled pre-orders for the lens only.

So, no kit for now in most parts of the world… but not in Australia!

In fact, Australians can now pre-order also the X-T1+18-135 combo here at camerapro.com.au.

If you buy the X-T1 and 18-135 separately, you’d pay AUD 2,714 (AUD 2,614 now because of the X-T1 sale). Purchase the kit (X-T1+18-135) and pay AUD2,379.

– X-T1 body only: AUD 1,499 ($100 off because of the EOFY sale. Normal price is of AUD1,599)
– X-T1 with 18-135: AUD2,379
– XF 18-135 only: AUD1,115

You can buy the X-T1 bundled also with other Fujinon lenses. See all combinations here at the Australian store camerapro.

If the 18-135 is the all-rounder travel lens you’ve waited for, feel free to pre-order it at BHphoto, AmazonUS, Adorama to support FR. You won’t pay a single penny more on your lens, but a small commission is valued back to Fujirumors. Thanks in advance to those who decide to support this blog.

    1. Well, it’s new. It’s normal…
I remember my X-e1 Kit, bought for $1400. Less than a year later, it was worth $7-800.

      1. How much value does a new car loose when you take it for its first spin. Last year ‘s bicycle half price… Teknology is going rapid..you know and I know. Who still pays top dollars for the X-pro 1? The further down in the camera hierarchy you go the more it will lose its worth for next year’s camera.

        1. The Fuji X100 was $1200 new 2 years after release. That camera held value. Today’s Fuji’s? They sink like a stone.

        2. A NEW E1 KIT is now $699 at B&H.
          50% or more drop in a 12 months… hmmm

The new car value is irrelevant. I mean NEW equipment.

Meanwhile, I can still sell my old Nikon lenses, some 5-8 years old, for a profit… not that I care about profit, but just for comparison.

      1. Kind of reality show for photographers 🙂

In short: there is a casting, then the lucky 8 fight amongst themselves, at each assignment the Jury give the boot to some, and everything is “videoed” and will be published over several episodes on the web.

I guess we’ll just be missing the hot scenes in the shower.

        Wow

          1. Well I guess it’s a blessing that I am a software developer running my own small business and not a Marketing director, I’d have probably lost all my customers by now 🙂

  1. New VF rumours aside… I wouldn’t be shocked to find that the July “X-T1b or p or whatever” announcement is just the availability of the WR lens & Body as a kit…

  2. This is fine and dandy but looking at the lens road-map shouldn’t we be talking about the 16mm by this time???

    1. I think there is a huge disconnect between the roadmap, the actual announcement of the lens, the actual availability of the lens some where in the world, and the lens showing up at your local store where you can actually touch it before purchasing.
Based on the roadmap, and Fuji’s history, you will be lucky to have all those lenses at your local store by Fall 2015.
By that time the X-T2 will be out. :))
The above are just my personal thoughts, but it is the timing that I am using in deciding how Fuji fits into my photography.

      1. I should add, the additional disconnect of purchasing a Fuji lens at first availability and buying it on sale at a working mans price. :))

      1. Not in Germany it seems, there is a few 100 € premium for the full frame 6D from Canon. Once you add a hand grip to the T1 the price and weight become similar.

At least Fuji is in the game … they can at any time make a DSLR look-alike and give Canon and Nikon some real trouble.

          1. One can infer that as a kit the price for said combination will be a few 100 € less than if the kit items were purchased individually.

The cameras are remarkably similar in capability, I never thought much about a DSLR but as these two types of cameras start to converge in feature and price it starts to get interesting. The Fuji gear looks a little expensive, but at the same time they can probably put out a DSLR clone and have a real chance to steal some of the DSLR market – perhaps they just need a few cheaper XC lenses to get the entry price down a bit.

  3. If you want Nikon or Canon go for it. We are here because of Fuji, the first real alternative in my opinion to Canon /Nikon. I used to have Pentax gear (since film age in the 90s) but even they are not there yet, Fuji does.
